What did they make such a mess of it when the version made for the “Love” album 17 years ago sounds great. It even has the shakesphere included and the latter half in stereo! I thought it was perfect!

What’s crazy is while looking for bootlegs I found the 5.1 remixes of Magical Mystery Tour for the movies anniversary which slightly predated the rest of these remixes did SO MUCH BETTER on Walrus, but still refused to do the kitschy (and iconic) fake stereo flip halfway thru. But beyond that it was a much better mix of the song, I was blown away by how awful the new one was in comparison i do not understand. At this point just mix down the 5.1, it sounds better like that. Also comparing its (unfortunately full of film audio) version of the title track to this new mix, this one is much more saturated, which I don’t entirely mind on this song but there was a very beautiful crispness and treatment done for some of these songs that’s just been thrown out for no reason.

Crazy that they make such a mess of the song, but no one stops and says ‘hold on, this really isn’t sounding right’ and stopping it before it’s released 🤔
