I literally had the EXACT same conversation with a 13 year old young man last night because he got busted trying to break into cars in my neighborhood. He was following his friends but he was the one that got busted. Before the Cops came to get him I Tried to tell him he can change the path that he’s on and doesn’t have to follow. I pray this kid isn’t too far gone.
The way he said “all I know is the street” is had me laughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣 P.S. but in all seriousness I like the way you criticised the street life by exposing it as a all round negative lifestyle!!!!! 👍
My brother is a perfect example of someone who did not chase their potential. He wasn’t in no gang or anything but he did act like a damn clown in school. Got expelled in the 10th grade, never went back to get his GED, now works part time as a truck driver (not full time and barely goes to work smh), living at my grandmas house with his girlfriend and 2 year old daughter, has been arrested twice for beating on his girlfriend (even had an arsenal charge) and is anyways complaining about his life and blaming everyone else for his problems. All of this at just 27 years old.
If there is a chance that one can get ahead without having to tow the ball and chain of accountability and expectation, if people don't grow up with courage in the home, they damn sure not going to get it at school...but then the streets have a different perspective on the matter, don't they?

Yep I have a few cousins who say these streets calling me cuz all the time. My response to them is always the same. If the streets are calling you then don't answer.
It’s funny you talking about this because it’s dudes I used to know now say man you’ve changed you forgot about the hood I’m like dawg I’m sick of the fights/shootouts my friend getting killed the shit just gets old
Unfortunately, most of the friends I knew were in the streets and most of them are dead so it sucks but I can't help someone if they don't help themselves
That's why I don't associate myself with people who hang out on the street all day and night and not do anything productive with their lives. If I can graduate High School and get my Diploma then so can you. The problem is that some of you Brothers out here have lazy attitudes and expect things to be handed to you like a Silver Platter. That's why you hang out in front of the damn Liquor Store or Deli and ask strangers for money because you don't want to do something productive with your life like going back to School to get your Diploma or enroll in a Job Placement Program. That's why it's important to go to school and get a education. These people who are unmotivated and lazy either going to end up in jail or dead if they don't stop with the attitude about all I know is the streets. Because the streets will get you locked up or end up getting you killed if you keep wasting your time being with people who don't give a damn about you.
exactly sir, im tired of hearing that dumb excuse. you are a citizen of the richest country in the world where as we speak, there are tons of people desperate to break into it, u have no excuse. the streets and drugs excuse is so lame. Acting as if your immediate neighborhood is the only place to seek opportunities is lame. you live in a neighborhood within a city within a state within a country, there are no more excuses to be had except laziness.
