I hope these ladies are training apprentices to follow in their tracks. These skills need to be preserved.
As a fan and collector of old textiles, especially European needlework and woven tapestries, I understand the level of dedication, skill, and above all, love, required to care for these delicate and precious items from the past. I commend the work you both are doing to preserve the threads of our artistic history. More people like you, please. Cheers!
Fortunate women, to have found joy and satisfaction in such valuable work. Lovely little film.
I go to work and do something that isn’t very important one way or the other, congrats on doing something worthwhile.
I love the woman's description about looking too closely and then describing the nuances of a face in textile form. When I see something wonderfully old something inside me glistens with excitement. The handwork somehow communicates something rare and precious to be near.
its absolutely an honor to see such devotion to their tapestries shown by these skilled , intelligent, and devoted women....ahhh so civility does still exist...!!!!
What a remarkable story!
Beautiful, thank you!
This is magical, Joshua. Wonderful and meaningful. Keep up the good work. (Greetings from Ireland).
Thank you, thank you and thank you. Love your work!!
Wonderful and amazing! Thank you. ❤🧡❤
Dream job
Very inspiring story. And beautifully told !
Beautiful film 🎥 🙏🙏
This is stunning! 🎉
Thank you for such a fascinating film Joshua.
How cool!
wow that's amazing!!
Where else would they be working on the tapestries, except at Cathedral of St John the Divine, absolutely , the very cherished Episcopal Cathedral located in Morningside Heights Manhattan..
Love this so much!
Wow
I sincerely hope that tapestry restoration will endure longer than the stone workshop did. For a while, CSJD was EXPORTING masons to European destinations for restoration work on cathedrals in France and Germany. Apparently, there were some "financial irregularities" - and a welcome project ceased. 😢
❤❤❤❤❤
I wonder how much time they got to spent on the tapestries. It does sound like they have jobs from other clients and it sounds like its only the 2 of them?
Such a beautiful work!
