Fun fact: the creepy image of the Russian Sleep Experiment is actually an eddited image of a halloween prop from Spirit Halloween, called "spazm". They just blacked out the eyes and used a marker to make the wrinkles on the skin darker, then put it through a filter. Just fun trivia.
Now I want an RPG Maker game of the Russian sleep experiment. A cute story game with multiple characters who try to stay awake while slowly losing their shit. The protagonist can have multiple options throughout the story that decide on the outcome of the experiment or how fast everyone goes insane. Makes multiple endings possible as well.
It kills me that even though this is a completely fictional experiment, they could have made it seem genuinely believable with the information they shared during the game. This was so elementary. Right. You hear a lot about unethical experiments in the 1940s, but not from Russia because Stalin really didn't like scientists. Speaking of which, I wouldn't be surprised if sleep deprivation was on the list of tests in Japan or Germany at the time.
There isn't much to it, the only way I can think of being a game is you actually performing the experiment on a subject and seeing what happens or being the subject yourself and seeing hallucinations. Not a huge fan of the "Walk around and listen to the story via audio device or pages" and just waiting for a jumpscare.

One thing I've learned over the last year is how important sleep is for your mental and physical health. This is specially obvious when you're injured or sick. Don't neglect sleep boys, it also makes you live longer
This is definitely true but also stressing about not getting enough sleep is worse for you. Obviously there are lots of people who just sleep as soon as their heads hit the pillow but if you're somehow who struggles like me, hearing about how much you need sleep only makes you stress about it and makes it harder to sleep.

I don't know if the kid believed it was true, was purposely lying, or just didn't clarify that it wasn't a true story, but the way he presented it and the slightly warped and lost details made it sound extremely real, and I believed it was a real experiment until just a few years ago. Even after I found out it was fictional, it still scared me so much. And then, just this year, I read it. It was so bad I immediately stopped being scared and I cannot take anything relating to it seriously any more. It was so poorly written and had ZERO suspension of disbelief. I spent 15 years of my life terrified to death of it, believing it was true, not being able to sleep many nights because of thinking about it, and reading it immediately cured me. It's a joke. A 7-year-old told a better scary story. I do not have the words to convey how poorly made it was.
The environment was pretty spooky/creepy to me, at least. I feel that the finish/ending is a little weak, but tbf, I don't know if this could finish any other way anyway. (Although maybe less noise might be nice. A lot of the best scares I've seen was done without sharp/loud noises.) Manly's idea to start from the beginning (so we get to slowly see what the experiment did to the test subjects) could be interesting.
Ayy I like this creepypasta. It genuinely terrified me right up until the creature starts monologuing 😂. It's a wonder no one's made a game or movie out of it before.
Things that the lack of sleep does to a person are... really scary. Hell, pretty much all my manic episodes were caused that way, so it's personally scary too.
The world record for sleep deprivation is 11 days apparently, but I was under the impression the max was 7 days without some sort of micronap or use of stimulants while not suffering from a condition like FFI which is *super* rare. I've had chronic insomnia for over 7 years and I'm still good, can definitely stay sane after 4-5 days with no sleep and no micronaps, with a rotating sleep schedule of 2-5 hrs per day. I assume my brain is looking a lot like swiss cheese now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The graphics are good, but the tension falls drastically. Maybe showing some fragments during the experiment, or having more chase to escape the facility could've helped to keep the tension
My favorite creepy pasta! 'The keep cutting" is from where they were taken out and being operated on, "fixed" and they didn't want anesthesia I believe the one they gave it to died. So when they were being worked on they were smiling and saying "keep cutting" They didn't include like half the story but still cool
I know it isn't your usual kind of game to play, but I absolutely adore it with all my heart and the word about it needs to get out there. Thus, vid 1 of asking you to play Sanabi. I have nothing to do with making it but please, it's only a few weeks old.
Usually it’s about 10 days before you die without sleep, however they did say they were using an experimental gas stimulant, so maybe that kept them alive? Just a hypothesis
Last may I stayed awake for 6 days straight because I was working two full time jobs and FF16 JUST came out and I mean… I HAD to play it. Upsides: I got to finish FF16 in a week. Downsides: No insanity. No paranoia. Can’t remember what the hell happened in FF16. Had trouble falling asleep on day 7. Girlfriend was a little angry (nothing a couple coupons for Red Lobster couldn’t fix)
They pulled out their intestines, which you can survive for a while. They only ate their “flesh,” like skin and muscle. The story was good until the ending, when they just came out and said what they were implying the whole time.
i don't usually comment on your videos, but i watch quite a lot, and the russian sleep experiment is one of my favourite creepypastas, so naturally i was really excited to see this. but... man, the creator really dropped the ball on this. it could've been so good, but the atmosphere was so absent and the "scare" at the end so bad that i feel compelled to say just how much better the actual full creepypasta is. credit to the voice actors, they were both incredibly good, but both the voices in the ending scene just didn't fit the tone. it leaves me asking what the point of making the game was, taking such an innovative and terrifying story, and like manly said, dropping you into the climax, and just making it a walking simulator while you listen to a worse retelling of the source material. one thing that did give me hope was where you can hear one of the participants whispering in the cell beside you, that was a good scene, but the rest of this is just... what was the point?

'The keep cutting" is from where they were taken out and being operated on, "fixed" and they didn't want anesthesia I believe the one they gave it to died. So when they were being worked on they were smiling and saying "keep cutting"
They didn't include like half the story but still cool
As a person with insomnia i can confirm this is the sversge normal experience
I know it isn't your usual kind of game to play, but I absolutely adore it with all my heart and the word about it needs to get out there.
Thus, vid 1 of asking you to play Sanabi.
I have nothing to do with making it but please, it's only a few weeks old.
Usually it’s about 10 days before you die without sleep, however they did say they were using an experimental gas stimulant, so maybe that kept them alive? Just a hypothesis
Average late night manly viewer experience
11:32 Damn thats one heavy ass smoker 💀
My insomnia has been flaring up recently, lets hope this is the video to cure it
YYEEAAAHHH!! NEW VIDEO!! Kinda seems like i was just waiting for it lol
There is one man stay awake for 40 years. Have to say he have so much more time than everyone else
I fell asleep while watching this video. Manly, you're the best :D
A Russian sleep experiment game? This is the first time I've seen this story adapted into a game... And that honestly feels like a crime...
It’s the 20th century, we have gas that keeps people awake forever, but the mystery of a decent flashlight forever evades us
Last may I stayed awake for 6 days straight because I was working two full time jobs and FF16 JUST came out and I mean… I HAD to play it.
That has to be the best thumbnail you've had yet
They pulled out their intestines, which you can survive for a while. They only ate their “flesh,” like skin and muscle. The story was good until the ending, when they just came out and said what they were implying the whole time.
i don't usually comment on your videos, but i watch quite a lot, and the russian sleep experiment is one of my favourite creepypastas, so naturally i was really excited to see this. but... man, the creator really dropped the ball on this.
it could've been so good, but the atmosphere was so absent and the "scare" at the end so bad that i feel compelled to say just how much better the actual full creepypasta is. credit to the voice actors, they were both incredibly good, but both the voices in the ending scene just didn't fit the tone.
it leaves me asking what the point of making the game was, taking such an innovative and terrifying story, and like manly said, dropping you into the climax, and just making it a walking simulator while you listen to a worse retelling of the source material.
one thing that did give me hope was where you can hear one of the participants whispering in the cell beside you, that was a good scene, but the rest of this is just... what was the point?
gooooodnight thank u for my beddy bye time sleepy content
i have a big test tomorrow wish me luck pls
@@The_G_in_Jesus hey this was sweet to wake up to! I will ace this shit!!
THIS GAME HAS SUCH COOL AND DETAILED DESIGNSSSSHJKASL
When the coffee and 3 hours and 23 minutes of sleep wear off:
