I am reading the book at the moment, and as an Egyptian, Egyptian culture is described very very well in the book. It is the real world Cairo in the book . The places in the book are real in today's world . I am thinking about doing a review for the book from an Egyptian reader point of view
Wake up baby, new Laxxia just dropped
LETS GO!! With the help of a more organized friend I'm aiming for some more consistency for these videos 😎😎
OMG you are a gift from god, I was looking for something exactly like this to read (actually let me be honest, I was wishing for something like this, cuz i didn't know they exist)
I don't know what the jinns are like in these stories, but as an arab they sound sooo cool to me, they are witty, strong, intelligent. if not then they are spooky and mysterious.
also YOU MENTIONED A STRONG FEMALE AND QUEER?!!
I'm so happy, I'll start with them as soon as I possibly can!
These Djinn certainly fall under those descriptions, they have a range of categories as you'll find, and YES Fatma is our Queer icon, I love her so much
Fantastic review! I've never heard of this series but I'm adding it to my list!
I just finished A Master of Djinn. You're definitely making me want to read the short story before my book club tonight. It's so funny that what you were describing about your approach towards learning terms for e.g. clothing and food was exactly what I did. While I hadn't consciously thought that this approach was a token of respect for the culture depicted, I think that you make a good point about this. It's not just that doing some extra work to really get a good mental picture of a culture you might be unfamiliar with is a worthwhile exercise, but that the author doesn't go out of their way to force you into that immersion.
Anyway, thanks for sharing!
Ah thank you so much!! I cannot wait to talk about Master of Djinn proper, I really enjoyed the book, I should be talking about it rather soon!!
I've never heard of this series but I've always loved novellas. The covers of the books/novellas are absolutely stunning! Also I love how eloquent you are when describing and talking about your opinions. It's insightful and obvs had to subscribe. Also you're so close to 500 subs!!
Thank you so much for the kind words!!! 2022 has been the year of novellas for me, so far. It's been nice to read so many amazing stories so quickly 🥰🥰
