Ahh man!!I'm almost done with my ODST magnum :) Without your tutorial I don't think I would've known where to even start, but now I know how to make this and I've also acquired a basic idea of how to start on other weapons too. This isn't my first rodeo with EVA foam but I did learn a few new things and for that I'm thankful. Thanks bro!!

Can you do the Reach shotgun (M45), the MA37 or the Reach Spartan Laser? I have no clue how to do those and yet they're my favorite Halo weapons (aesthetically).
I realized that those pez candy dispensers are perfect slides for guns

i just ran out of foam lol, i absaloutley love the odst tutorial i just have a few more pieces to go!
TIP: when you first cut out the silhouette of the gun also trace on that grip section detail. Cut it out, then glue the cut outs back togheter so that the textured sides are on the outside.
Glue the gun halves, and then pop it back in.

hey! could a hair drier get hot enough to bend eva foam? thanks!
It'll probably work, but it might take longer to get the same effect as in the video. I just finished my costume and made it without a heat gun or hair drier, I just bent the foam into shape. It works fine, though it probably made it a little more difficult gluing things into place.
Hey the handle part of the template in the download doesn't have the edge part for reference in order to bevel the sides of the gun's handle
I really need to buy some Eva foam so I can make some of these props so maybe in a year or 2 walk around as a odst and what thickness of Eva foam do you use??
You should be able to buy EVA foam floor mats. That's what he uses and they are 12mm thick.

I don't know if it's just me, but i find the constant "enter stage right" move very distracting. Other than that, awesome videos :D

How well will neoprene mats work in place of EVA foam?
Neoprene mats won't work in place of EVA since it is way too thin. You should be able to buy EVA floor mats which are usually pretty cheap.

Justis Menzel if you buy a pack of Eva foam it normally comes in 4, but I have been building it so far it's about 2 mats
i just completed this, i did both the magnum and the SMG in 2 mats.. if you layer the templates correctly, you can get it in a mat and a half tbh..
well i was making the odst armor as well so i used left over foam from that build

actually its supposed to be like that, in ODST the magnum has an extended clip as well as silencer, i dont know if you noticed before but it is there in the game.
