Ultra Instinct Goku lyles it's how I did my entire ODST costume it just takes longer and has a less noticeable finish however heat gun can easily mealtime the foam

Could someone tell me how you make armor out of foam? I've made a suit out of pepakura but I'd like to do something without much handholding. I don't much trust my freehanding skills and i assume that people who make armor and props out of foams don't exactly freehand anything either so I'd really like to know how they do it. My previous suit is nice, but it's very stiff and fragile, not much fun to walk around in. If someone could leave a link with some help or just some advice that would be much apprecisted.
how would one rescale the template for this? it seems a bit oversized sitting at over 30cm's long, wanna rescale it to be around 22/24 cm long so its a bit more accurate to the the game

he's using 1/2 inch anti-fatigue floormats for the core prop, and should use 1/4 inch mats and 2mm, 3mm, and 4mm foam for the details. make sure to sand the rough texture off the back for better adhesion

Mapo Dato KJ I just finished my odst armor recently and have gone through about 9 to 10 sheets. Only cause I suggest u save the foam you cut from the pieces because throughout the armor there are small segments and u can use the Rama king space from the left over foam instead of breaking open another sheet just for a small piece. Take my advice and use it wisely

Hey Andrew, I just recently have started to get into the crafting field and was wondering how you remove a texture from foam that is only flat on one side. This has been a major roadblock in my projects and help would be appreciated.
No, unless you coat it in fiberglass or a sturdy plastic that withstands the beating, no foam for airsoft. Obviously as already pointed out, it's foam. It'll be full o holes if you get hit, plus it could snag on stuff. If you cover/seal it, you would have to use fiberglass and resin. Look up some "how to custom airsoft/paintball mask" videos. Aside from that, the visor, (thing ya look through), wont protect your eyes. You need to use airsoft approved stuff. Always better safe than sorry, you don't wanna lose your eyes.
I did a practice run on making this and it went quite badly but I do have 2 more sheets of Eva foam , I think my two main problems were not having steady hands and shitty craft knives because I was coping this video as best I could and I couldn't cut through the foam smoothly or without it tearing even though I made sure I replaced the blade but it kept tearing so I replaced the foam again but I got the same results so I think it was the knife blade so , can any one recommend me any brand of craft blade that has worked well for them.
A bit late to the party, but foam will blunt a blade within minutes and you'll end up with the tearing you've experienced (cutting too fast and holding the blade at too steep an angle will also make it worse). Unless you want to spend lots of money on a pile of blades, just get yourself a good sharpener and your single blade will last for a whole project - I used 1 blade for my Deadshot armour and arm guns. My blades were the cheapest I could find (ie from the "dollar store").
If you're wondering how long it takes to make this, I'd say probably around 3 hours to make it and paint it. I haven't made it yet but it typically takes me 8-10 hours for the big rifles.

You can use sand paper, or you can use a heat gun to smooth the texture out a bit.
i dont have a heat gun what can i use instead?
Ryapture I've seen people use candles, stop tops, and blow torches. But you can get a heat gun for less than 20 bucks on Amazon.

McToasty Gaming had the same issue when making the pulse blade helmet, gonna get myself a decent Stanley blade, and plenty of spare blades :)

PS: A metal ruler will help you get those awesome straight lines (wood or plastic rulers will just get ruined by the blade)

I got my foam today at harbor freight for like, $9. It was a pack of 4 as well, so you have a bit of room if your first one didn't go very well.
It's been 8 years and people still call this a magnum when it is obviously an M6C socom (Automag)
