Well that concludes our first Mystery Quest! I hope it was not too spooky.
Members is now live! Right now you can go and see a post game chat where we talk about the adventure and I answer the players questions
Excellent story telling Tom, your always a good GM. Shout-out to the players Simon, Lydia, Tom Bates, and Pflax.
Thank you for getting Simon on this one! I know mystery is in the name but I would love to see some more 'yogsquest' style adventures too if possible. After Hat Films pirate one I went back and rewatched all the old yogsquests again and realised I need more! Lastly, while Tom doesn't always paint the most vivid picture of detail he does keep hidden secrets really well for the reveal and that's not easy, loving it so far!
Excellent stuff! Can't wait to become a member!
2 spooky, pissed myself, would watch again.
whats on the patreon?
I love how 80% of the adventure was this lot bumbling around the hotel doing random rubbish that had nothing to do with anything lovecraftian and when they got to the lovecraftian stuff, they just went along with it. They spent more time fighting their fellow humans than they did the forces of darkness.
In my opinion this is what makes the lovecraftian horror even greater, you would have enough problems without it and this totally finishes it
That really is one of the things that's so great about it. I think some of the best cosmic horror stories are the ones where the supernatural stays unknown and unknowable, and our human capabilities can only perceive is the havoc it wreaks on the small slice of reality we have access to. The disintegrator is like the mythical Apple of Discord. Put it between a bunch of people, and watch them tear themselves apart to get it.
The Yogscast Guarantee.
do you know thetrue ending
That's like every GM's problem lol you have this plan to play an actual campaign and then faff half the night away setting up characters and then doing everything except the story
Lydia immediately jumping to the “just use the unspeakable device that defies our species understanding of existence to kill everyone” is so on brand
Any Cthulhu you can walk away from is a win in my book.
Lydia with the Lindt chocolate was an amazing moment. Good job and more of this please!!
I realised what she thought of immediately. Lindt makes great chocolate.
At the end of the video, my stomach still hurts from laughing so much at that haha
Tom was so done he full named her XD
I thought she was making a joke and others didn't get it at first haha
I love that Simon's instinct is to use the device to dig a hole!
He is the diggy hole man, after all.
He wanted to see if it would destroy the entire world
My favourite part of this trilogy was absolutely the fact that Mr Brown or whatever his name was got poisoned to death, his room got broken into with obvious forced entry, his briefcase was stolen and thrown off the balcony, and despite all of this, nobody ever figured out what happened. The briefcase wasn’t found, and the dead body was just sat in a chair all day. Presumably all the evidence was wiped out in the explosion at the end lol.
Hope we see more Perry/Maggy pairing in future adventures
Hoping they return in the next Call of C'thulhu game they do.
Tom Bates is simply incredible in this. I really hope he decides to do more Mystery Quest videos!
Agreed!
And so he did
I also have to say: I love the intro for these. It makes for a great intermission between the episodes.
I think I'll like it when I'm watching episodes weekly - currently I find it breaks the flow for me when I'm bingeing 3 hours of Tom and his friends playing with their CoC
Mystery quest!
Same! Tom's such an immersive DM.
@@Wjshorepeople used to complain that they needed recaps now we complain about recaps
@@GreenEyedDazzler it depends how you're taking in the media, but it's 100% better to have and not need.
If you only have time to watch one and then 4 days later you watch the next then you probably need a recap. Just for these opening ones, when they dumped a whole load straight on us and I ate that shit up like a henry hoover, I found it inconvenient but I already can't remember exactly where they left off the first episode of Mörk Bork
5 minutes in, we have the lindt mistake and the dog crank fiasco, this may be the best episode yet
For the first adventure, you went through a bit of the stuff they missed, and the other routes they could have taken. Would you consider doing similar roundups at the end of these, or alternatively have roundups as a members only video maybe?
That's what they're doing I think, with the "Post-Game Table Chat"
@@alfredhadesworth9253is that a members only video
There is one for members. So he does do it. You just need to be a member.
A thrilling conclusion to a Pulp Cthulhu Classic. Glad Mr. Sleep got to play a good role. He's my favorite NPC in this scenario. He's a great homage to Richard O'Brien's character from Dark City. Also the scene with "Gabe" was genuinely unsettling. Love the series, and loving the channel.
Its really a strange situation. Really hammers home the idea of "look out for yourself first" ideology when dealing with most things of this nature.
rare that the investigators murder more folk than the monsters in CoC 😂
For the record, a bid IS a contract
I could genuinely watch the yogs play Cthuhlu all day every day. It just gets better every episode
Dammit man I need to know answers!
WTF WAS THE BATmothMEN?
TENTACLE MONSTER??
WHO IS MR.SLEEP?
Damm this was good! I love the idea of these characters would carry over into other Call of Cthulhu adventures if that would be how it goes!
Having read the scenario before:
The bat/moth/men were the ones extracting brains and using tentacles; they're a super scientific alien race called the Mi-go, who like to experiment on humans.
Mr. Sleep is a shoggoth lord, a very small shapechanging subspecies of the shoggoths, gigantic formless monsters in the most remote regions of the earth.
The Disintegrator is a primordial alien weapon used for genocide against the shoggoths and their creators.
The shoggoths want it so that they can dispose of it. The Mi-go have detected the device and want to take it away for further study. Neither cares about humanity.
The White Point Hotel is obliterated as a side-effect of the Mi-go giving up on their goal and blasting off back to their space station. Oops!
Helping Mr. Sleep or helping the Mi-go are definitely the safer choices, but they also involve helping aliens who are happy to murder humans whenever convenient. The most "good" ending would be to fight off both alien parties and claim the Disintegrator for themselves, but that would be extremely dangerous and they could've been slaughtered in the attempt.
@@vesperhugothanks for the round up, helps to explain it! What I don’t understand is how they would’ve killed mr sleep, the disintegrater did nothing to him, and I doubt the guns would have helped much.
@@ozytheuzifeels like one of those choose your own adventure books where it's like "if you picked up the dagger that kills people who are immune to disintegration rays, turn to page 46"
@@ozytheuzi if I recall correctly, the disintegrator did nothing because Pyrion didn't get a good enough roll.
@@vesperhugoyeah. The only real way to win that fight is actually make use of the disintegrater. Or get really lucky on your firearm rolls. Like. Really lucky.
Lydia is honestly amazing at role-playing!!
literally how many times has anyone in this campaign rolled lower than 60? every single roll its like "im gonna look into this suspicious thing, 75, no i dont!"
I loved this, hope to see more of Maggie, Perry, Archie and Otto. A wonderful job by Tom too of course, especially with "Gabe" and Mr Sleep. And of course excellent work by the editors with the sound effects at times.
aw damn i was hoping Tom would start explaining the story and more about what they didnt uncover after the end like he did with the lydia simon oneshot on his channel
I loved that amidst all the chaos and madness going on, pyrion stops the group and is like "right... wtf are we gonna do? We've got like 4 factions here and we need to pick a side, what we gonna do?" 😂 loved the sudden change in pace
Considering it was called CoC, I didn't actually expect any Eldrich stuff until it happened. I thought it was just going to be a bunch of gentlemen(and woman) bumbling around at an auction. I should have expected the Eldrich.
That was soo good, loved Pyrion in this. I hope you get all sorts of people in on these, perhaps members of hatfilms and Lewis is always a fun addition to dnd type stuff.
I love this group so much. Their party play and dynamic is so damn good. TomB and pyrion riffing off eachothers humor is so fkn excellent.
Such excellent videos. So happy to have these
Good ol' Doctor Crankenstein at it again
Loved this cast. I didn’t realize Pflax was the rp master. More plz
This episode genuinly gave me some chills, the sfx, the music, so fantastic
They open the bag, it is full of the very rarest funko pops, some with super rare misprints of rare production lines even. They cast them into the chasm.
This was so so so good. Loved everyone's characters! Pyrion and Simon being my favourites personally! Hoping to see more adventures like this!
Super fun! I do kind of like the recap of 'what could have happened' that was done in the other Call of Cthulu vid posted today. I know there's no point in winning/losing a tabletop but I'm might curious to hear about 'the other endings' but I suppose flipping through reddit will apeas me :P
That was fantastic! Really creepy! Love how the crew fought against the humans more than the creatures
1:10:18 "let's get the schnell out of here" 👏😄
This series was great, the sound effects and music changing when things got weird really elevated the tension! Excited for what's next
I can't wait for the CONSEQUENCES!
Awesome conclusion, great short-form campaign. Hopefully you might do a post-game video doing a roundup of the campaign and some alternative paths that could have been trod?
Honestly, great cast of players, super fun to watch. Got super pulled into the story because of Tom's storytelling and the music and sound effects. Very spooky as well. Would love to see more!
Just binged all 3 eps - super excited to see more!
I loved the audio production in these, and I love the format of like a few episodes of 1h
Love the chemistry of all the players.
Was this scenario a pre-written one like the paper chase one or was this Tom's creation. Because for the paper chase one on Tom's channel i really enjoyed him going through it afterwards telling us what could have been and what was acually going on. But maybe since this is a longer campaign it would spoil stuff, idk, but i really enjoyed the exposition after the paper chase.
It’s a supplement
It's one of the small pre-written adventures at the end of the Pulp Cthulu book.
@@Geothesponge111 Is there more info about what the entity's and device were? Or is everything writtent to be ambigious?
@@Ltmime The supplement does name the entities. They are famous mythos creatures. Spoilers below.

Mr. Sleep is a Shoggoth Lord. The flickering bats in the mist are Mi-go. The Mi-go are masters of surgery and can control human bodies. They are also responsible for the mist. The Mi-go are aliens that are looking to take the device and use it to kill Shoggoth as it's one of the few things that can harm them. Mr. Sleep wants to destroy the device so it can't be used against his kind. Mr. Sleep can't touch the device because of the radiation it gives off. The device itself is an old piece of tech that was found in a excavation by the guy that claimed he invented it. It was tech from an ancient civilisation that predates the evolution of humans on earth.
@@Ltmime Super spoilers below:
I'm not super into lovecraftian stuff but I did some poking around because I was also curious. This is a prewritten scenario called "The Disintegrator", and is part of the Pulp Cthulu book as mentioned.
Mr. Sleep appears to be what is known as a "Shoggoth lord" - Another more notable example is called "Mr. Shiney". Normal shoggoth are ancient and take the form of an amophous mass of tentacles and other nasty features. Shoggoth lords are mostly different in that they can take a human form with the help of some special quality of their suit. They were once biologicals tools of the elder gods, but became intelligent eons ago and fought for their independence.
The flying creatures appear to be known as "mi-go", a hyperadvanced alien species of winged fungal creatures who are extremely adept in neuroscience (to the extent that they would be able to animate the corpse as seen in this episode). They also possess additional otherworldly qualities, such as telepathy and being impossible to photograph since they, for lack of a better explanation, exist in other dimensions on top of what the human race and our tools do, and light does not interact with them how our photography and eyes expect it to. The race is known to be at war with the elder gods.
Things never seem to be black and white with lovecraftian stuff - example, based on my reading, both of these entities would seem to be in conflict with the elder gods, but that does not necessarily make them allies. I'm sure they each have their own conflicting goals for the device. As for the device itself, I wasn't really able to find much about it, but I'm sure it's equally as fantastic as these two beings. Regardless, based on what I've read at least, I don't really think there was a good ending to this adventure outside of surviving. Both entities are more than capable of killing the party, both seem to have little respect for human life, and I'm sure each has their own nefarious goals. I suspect even destroying the device could have been a bad ending as that may have enraged one or both parties. But then, it's a role play session so who knows - maybe there is a way to destroy the device and get away, but whos to say the device needed to be destroyed?
Some terms worth web searching for more info are: mi-go, shoggoth or shoggoth lord, mr shiney, the disintegrator
14.52 " the fog rolls in " i was wondering when this was going to get cthulhu'ish .. lol
This was so much fun to watch. Honestly Gabe had it coming.
Gonna remember the Lindt on the shoulder trick next time I meet a fancy lady.
Damn that got pretty spooky pretty fast! And poor old Gabe got Independence Day-ed! 😢
loving the new content!! considering this is a long term thing, would you consider a dice cam and tray for tom so we as veiwers can see his rolls so he doesnt have to call out what should be hidden from players? obviously the players call theirs out but itd be cool if we could see the DM's rolls behind the screen
I can't believe my favorite yogcontent got its own channel, and started off with a banger like this one. I hope we can get some kind of info as to what happened to Sonny after his traumatic experience in a future CoC. Great job Tom and the rest of the group!
That was a great adventure! Looking forward to everything this channel does in the future!
Some gasped. some clapped. most were silent
These came out just in time for me to listen to at work, they’ve been great, I’d love to see more
Love the new lineup but would also love to see the sole survivor Sonny make a return appearance, maybe as a grizzled veteran of the occult, hardened criminal numbed by his experiences, or similarly entirely a madman
Loving all the new rp stuff, the weekly uploads have me like a rat on the H button x
Technically Pyrion shouldn't have been able to use luck after pushing his roll at the end when he tried to turn on the machine 😏
Bar far one of the best Yogscast videos in a long time, wonderful watched riveted from beginning to end thank you all
Tom and all the other Yogs did fantastic work with this. I could only ask for more!
Tom is very good at this.
Everyone involved was great at roleplaying their characters!
This was worth the wait! I'm so glad that you all have started making these! They are Amazing!!! I love the originals!!!!
I cant believe I never gave these sort of videos a chance in the past, this was amazing.
I really hope they do some more Call of Cthulhu campaigns with this group of characters, this was a lot of fun!
Hi Tom. My name is Juan, been a fan for a long time. Im currently homeless looking for work, and id love to try to be a member but i cant really afford it right now. Id still love to see the post-game chat and all that. I wish i had the money. Id sub to all the yogs, like i used to in better times. Love y'all, your voices make life worth living sometimes. Make me feel less alone. Im eternally grateful 🙏🏽
Thanks very much for these tabletops Tom and crew! Super stoked to see more
part one and part two were so radical cant wait to watch part three
just finished it, this was so great i cant wait to see what you guys get up to next!
As funny as always, it's great to see you all enjoying doing this!
This was incredible! Hats off to you all!
Already in love with this channel, that was an amazing first story. Thanks!
Haven’t finished watching yet but this has been absolute genius! So glad you’ve made this channel.
This was so good absolutely loved it, great cast too
Really looking forward to the post game table chat! I hope channel memberships are unlocked soon! You guys definitely deserve our support
This was so good, looking forward to more!
Fantastic! Well done Tom and team!
This was great, cant wait for more in the future! Hopefully they'd all be uploaded in one like this oneshot. 🙌🙌
Loving the production value of this so far.
Really happy to have this channel and loved this series can’t wait for more - one thing I’d be interested in, as an extra episode at the end of a series, would be a retrospective, like what the gang did good what they did wrong, opportunities missed, maybe some extra lore, would be fascinating to get a wider picture whilst our gang do all the weird pointless hilarious stuff we love
Great content keep it up
Loved it, thank you Tom and guests, that was a wonderful adventure I got to witness, you described it so well and creepily Tom, you are so skilled in storytelling I feel blessed for these videos ♥
Love it, waiting for more!
loved this; your Call of Cthulu games are always awesome!
Cant wait for more cthulhu and hope this crew returns they're all amazing ❤️
I VERY much hope this specific storyline with these characters continues, goddamn that was fun and hilarious, I'm genuinely invested.
LOVED this! Hope we get to see more of Maggie and Perry in future Cthulhu-inspired tabletop
Would be pretty cool if y’all did a behind the scenes of the set up of the scenario, breakdown or something like that. Could be a members thing
Already out on their pateron and yes I think members video is the plan too
You should watch the end of the video.
This channel has a 100% hit rate so far, beautiful stuff
Always love it when Tom and the gang run Call of Cthulhu, I'm *so* glad we got a whole RUclips channel for it! Looking forward to more CoC (not that one, get your head out of the gutter) and whatever else you got cooking.
I only now found out about this channel and watched through the first series happily. So glad to see more roleplaying games with the yogs!
Already in love with this channel
This was fantastic, thanks guys 😄
Fantastic stuff Tom and co. Great crew, well GM'd.
This was absolutely amazing!
Brilliant ending, loved this campaign. Enjoyed the reference to The Mist, that was good. Really want to play a campaign or two myself now
Calling it now. Old man is Nodens and shadow in mist is Nyalarthotep. Tom favourite my comment if Im on to something!
absolutely love these tom :D your intro's are soo fun as well
Burst out laughing when they said “man-bat.” Love everything about this one off adventure.
These intros are fantastic!
This campaign was awesome to watch!! Loved it!!
An amazing session!!! Can't wait for more auughhhh
This was a delightful viewing experience, start to finish.
I really love the mystery quest intro thing, very fun
Loved every minute of it
This was such a great romp! Call of Cthulhu is always a great experience!
And this group were absolutely phenomenal! Well done all!
I would love to see some of the Tiny roleplaying games (Tiny Tavern & Beach Patrol being two of my personal faves!) And perhaps some Year Zero games like Mutant and the Alien RPG!
I was inspired by this to run “The disintegrator” scenario with a group. My group failed/crit failed all social roles with Wade including pushed roles and so failed to get into the auction. They saw a creepy looking Pelfrey peering at them out the window of his room wrapped up like the invisible man, so went to his door. They broke in, tried to convince him they were a doctor, failed the fast chalk check, searched his room, failed the spot hidden role and the subsequent pushed role, so got caught by a goon. They threatened the goon with a gun, failed the intimidation check even with advantage, shot at the goon, thankfully missed and were hunted about the hotel for breaking and entering and attempted murder. I am trying to figure out how to salvage?
You're the GM in this scenario yes? If your players are failing every roll then you still have the power to sort of 'veto' those rolls if needs be to move the story along.
👏 bravo fine work! 👏 loved watching this!!!
