    as a bush pilot I took off over gross when required (more than a few times) - because I burned off fuel so when I landed i was within the envelope. I was aware of what I could and could not do re flying - the kicker was we had a 5000' runway at home base for an easy take off. Not everyone has that...

    G, day from Sydney Australia.
    Yeh- wow... I'm amazed with your technology such as 3D printing parts.
    Over and above the CG assessment and weight distribution. Making "in roads" that's for sure!
    The air cooled Yamaha, very compact firewall forward. Not much room for a wrench and hands. I wonder what is the benefit in short engine mounts. I want to "get in and takeoff the mags and drop the oil etc

    I enjoy your videos!
    I think you are talented with maching and 3D cad printing.
    It is my opinion that you may want to consider your battery placement. Consider your voltage losses, and possibility of RF interference on such a long runs. Placing a larger battery with more cold cranking amps behind the traditional baggage area may have the same effect on CG as the more distant location. I know this will be more total weight. You still may need to run >6 ga wires. I would bond the plane near the battery, but still run a negative battery return wire to a common distribution point on the fire wall.
    Starting engines in winter uses a lot of power.
    (Warning this advice may be worth less than you paid for it. I know some about electronics and RF interference, but nothing about aviation)

    Consider a servo bypass ahead of your muffler to a short straight pipe, when you want/need a few extra ponies. I might do that when I build mine just for T/O. Looking good though. How much for the 2 used titanium header sets?

  • @jimchuk8511
    @jimchuk8511 Год назад

    Nice video. Wonder if you wouldn't be better off with a lithium battery at the firewall, and add lead at the tail for CG adjustment. Long battery cable runs loose power unless they are big is one reason I'm thinking and some of their weight is ahead of the CG. Also, the further back the lead weight is, the less of it you need. The last 3 Kitfoxes I've done, I widened the fuselages at the doors, not much extra weight, and way more room when you have the other guy with you. My Kitfox 4 with 912 and grove gear came in at 645, so if you can stay below 650, that will be real good. Just a few thoughts, like the videos. Jim

    • @bkairys
      @bkairys  Год назад

      Hey Jim, I do plan on running a lightweight lithium up front and the lead in the tail for redundancy as these engines are boat anchors with a working battery. Yes I do hope this ends up under 700 with 150 hp!
