According to the opinion of the majority of scholars, a person who neglects to perform prayers is not deemed a disbeliever (kafir) provided he does not deny its obligation. The word "Kufr" mentioned in the hadith means that this person commits an aspect of an act of disbelief and manifested an act of disbelievers since prayer is the act of worship that differentiates between a Muslim and a non-Muslim. Scholars have unanimously agreed that a person who neglects to pray must be commanded to observe it. However, an apostate is not commanded to observe prayer; rather he must revert first and then be commanded to pray. In his book al-Majmou', Imam al-Nawawi said, "Muslims are still allowed to inherit those who neglect to pray and vice-versa. If deemed a disbeliever, a person who neglects to pray will never be forgiven and it would be prohibited to inherit from him or vice-versa."
If the prophets says he shouldn’t be buried with muslims is the biggest indicator. Allah has created us to worship him. If you stop worshipping you disbelieved. How? U simply can’t believe and not act upon it. The Quraysh believed in Allah but what made them disbelievers hence they knew Allah was truly the one God and the Muhammad Saw was truly a prophet.
Saying La Ilaha Ilallah is one of the pillars of Islam and another pillar is Salat and whoever disbelieves in any one of the pillars of Islam is a kafir. So those who say I am still a Muslim because I say La ilaha Ilallah but I never pray has no knowledge. You don't have any option to skip any of the pillars of Islam or Eman. A Muslim should believe in all of the pillars and act upon it.
but be careful guys.. when it comes to takfir, you cannot make takfeer easily. just because not praying means you are kaif (in the basics of law) there are many precedents that need to be met to make takfeer and we do not do it, the government does. takfeer is a serious matter that needs to be taken seriously. and we never know what people truly died on. we can only pray that whoever died, died on islam. just like how stealing for cutting the hand isn't universal for all stealing, there are prerequisites for that. that's why even though there is a clear hadith for praying there is a discussion and it's not totally universal. finally, just because people in your family don't pray, you start calling them kafir. try being nice and subtle to strengthen their eman, also invite them to pray with you and be patient with them. when you start calling them kafir, it will only send them further away from prayer
assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh but wait a minute. what if someone says the shahada in his deathbed and dies before can even learn how to do salat? isn't it true that an uncle of the prophet was dying and the prophet (saw) asked him to say the shahada so that the prophet (saw) could defend his uncle before Allah (swt) on the Day of Judgement? And how could the prophet (saw) defend his uncle if he wasn't a muslim?
I hope someone can answer this inshallah. Does this ruling only apply to one who did not pray AT ALL during his life, as in he didn’t pray even once ? Or does it also apply to someone who prayed but gave it up later in his life ? If so, what is the minimum duration of not praying in order to be expelled from Islam ?
What if he used to pray before but because of the illness even when told to him he left the prayer for around half or one month and died in that illness. Will he be counted in this. Please inform me
If someone don’t sometimes pray fajr but prays rest of the 4 prayers also fall under this category? Sometimes when we wake someone I know for fajr they says they’re not feeling well so they’ll pray later (after sunrise)
@@Scorpion-wv1hs when taking your shahada, you have to believe in that there is no deity that has the right to be worshipped except Allah and that the prophet Mohammed (SAW) is the messenger of Allah. You don't have to be a saint from the get go but rather build your faith.Remember to keep on asking for guidance. May Allah guide us all.
Your testimony of faith will manifest in your actions. For example if you're about to commit sin and you prevent yourself from doing it for allahs sake then that is a sign of your iman. We know that iman increases and decreases as per the hadith of hanzalah and this is not something to be looked down upon. I'm just a lay person but this is my understanding. May Allah guide us.

0:36 how can there be no difference between person who doesn't pray and one who is idol worshipper? Is Allah equating pagans and people of books? That's was so biased statement!
Performing the prayers is the first Pillar of Islam and doesn't have any excuse whatsoever to leave and it's the first deed to be counted on the day of judgment if you fail, then you fail everything afterwards, no other deed will be accepted without prayer, and our purpose is to worship Allah in this life, someone who's worshipping idols and someone who's worshipping nothing is the same! and the prophet PBUH said the difference between us(Muslims) and them(the disbelievers) is the prayer in a hadith.
What Ever Shiekh have said its Just His understanding, which is Totaly Wrong(with respect). He had interpreted Hadith is Very Wrong Way, If A Person believes In Allah and his Messengers amd they Day of Judgement. He is Definitely a Muslim. And if he doest Pray that shows the Weaknes of his Emam. But this doesn't make him Kafir or Munafiq ( Astaghfirullah). A Muslim is Never like an idol worshiper even if he doesnt Pray Salah.
May be I am wrong but I asked from many ullamas in Pakistan and they gave me a referance of a hadith which says that" the one who has left salah intentionally, he has adopted the way of a kafir". May allah forgive me if I have missed some words. Now the question arises is that "is there a difference between a kafir and the one who acts in the way of a kafir??". Can someove clear my doubt plz. MAY ALLAH ALMIGHTY TAKE OUR SOUL IN THE PRESENCE OF IMAN. aamin sumamin
The hadith is "العهد الذي بيننا وبينهم الصلاة فمن تركها فقد كفر ‘The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is the prayer, and whoever abandons it has disbelieved (become a kaafir).’”
Subhan-Allah. The Prophet s.a.a.w. said the person who abandons prayer is a kafir, his Sahaba said it and yet you want to stubbornly insist "the vast majority of scholars" say differently. When the scholars contradict the Prophet s.a.a.w and the Sahaba r.a then disregard their opinions. Who knows better?
brother I think the reason why majority of the scholars say what they say is because they understand the term "abandon" differently to other scholars. One can argue (and rightly so) that "abandon" could mean one who completely abandons the prayer, in other words not pray at all. Allahu alam
@@mabz132 the prophet (saw) didn't gave a definition of "abandonment" and this was never further explained by the Prophet (saw) anywhere in authentic sunnah. I contradict his statement, regardless of being very well respected and knowledgeable. Two type of KufrKufr 1: A person knows it but rejects it by saying, I don't need it or doesn't care.Kufr 2: A person who accepts as obligated but laziness and ignoring and careless.Kufr 1 will die as rejecter, KafirKufr 2 will die in the state of abandoning the prayers and dies as in the state of Kufr and his matters are with Allah.
Shjekh albani the muhaddith and shejkh el feuzan give a best explanation than ibn uthejmeen (rrahimehumuLlah) but God knows better ruclips.net/video/i7u4bwts5_E/видео.html
I will not claim to be a scholar and only Allah knows the intentions of this Shiekh and why he said such 'muslims' who abandon salah are 'kafirs' (and thus to be treated like non-believers and not to be buried amonsgt Muslims). This I find harsh because a Muslim who believes in Allah and his Messenger and knows Salah is 1 of the 5 pillars of islam, does not become a 'kafir' is he misses or neglects salaat. Yes, he is making a grave sin but he is not a 'kafir' as long as he holds onto belief in Allah. There is a hadith that springs to mind here. In this example, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is saying how can you kill a person who has testified there is non worthy of being worshipped than Allah and DID YOU KNOW THE STATE OF HIS HEART when he said this ?... Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent us to Huraqat, a tribe of Juhainah. We attacked that tribe early in the morning and defeated them, (then) a man from the Ansar and I caught hold of a man (of the defeated tribe). When we overcame him, he said: 'La ilaha illallah (There is no true god except Allah).' At that moment, the Ansari spared him, but I attacked him with my spear and killed him. By the time we went back to Al-Madinah, news had already reached Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He said to me, "O Usamah, did you kill him after he professed La ilaha illallah (There is no true god except Allah)?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! He professed it only to save his life." Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) repeated, "Did you kill him after he had professed La ilaha illallah?" He went on repeating this to me until I wished I had not embraced Islam before that day (so that I would have not committed this sin). [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. Another narration is: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Did you kill him in spite of his professing La ilaha illallah?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! He said out of fear of our arms." He (ﷺ) said, "Why did you not cut his heart open to find out whether he had done so sincerely or not?" He continued repeating it until I wished that I had embraced Islam only that day. This proves to me, that belief in Allah is what makes you a Muslim and disbelief in Allah makes you a disbeliever. A Muslim not doing his salaat (for whatever reason) is a major sin, which is punishable by Allah. But nevertheless, he/she is still a Muslim as they believe in Allah
Jordan Lveraia Stop making up lies! The vast majority of scholars both in today’s and before times believe that such person is not a kafir if he doesn’t neglect it obligation
Pusteblume Excuse me? The vast majority of scholars hold the opinion that such person is not a kafir if he doesn’t deny the obligation and many scholars like Imam Malik and Abu Hanifa etc held the same opinion. Look at their evidence about this. If a vast majority holds one particular view then why can’t you look through it? To me it looks like you are worshipping Sheikh Ibn Uthaymen and you follow everything he says without even looking through it in a deep matter. Human beings make mistakes too and I doubt that Sheikh holds all the correct views. And yes prayer is very important. And by the way missing prayer out of sleep and forget is not something that you are accountable for so there goes the “missing one prayer takes you out of Islam” statement. And this opinion is definitely held by a small minority and you do you and follow whatever opinion you like
@Usama Khan, again, the question arises,"what do they mean by "leaving""? Do they mean to completely deny its necessity or do they mean to not pray at all or do they mean the act of missing a single Owakth out of laziness?
Wait don misunderstand brief n, This is for a person who NEVER prayed ad if that is proved okay..watch Assim Al Hakeems video for a clear understanding
This sounds very incorrect.I know muslims who don't pray, yet they believe in Allah and his messenger(saws),but he is making them equal to the idol worshippers. This is actually very wrong and ridiculous. The shaykh is a well known one,but I will disagree and follow the opinion which says that denying the obligatory nature of salah is kuffr.Otherwise leaving salah will cause one to be punished, but not eternally,as they are still count muslims. Disclaimer:In no way shape or form do i support leaving salah,is just that this opinion is giving Khajiri vibes, commiting takfir upon thousands of muslims.
Sp imam ahmed and other great scholars like Ibn Hazm gave Khariji vibes? What an idiot u are! You are an extremist. You could provide your reference instead of maligning someone.
Why don't you bring evidence from Quran and Sunnah, to say it's "incorrect opinion". There are only correct opinions and more correct opinions, based on evidence, for this there are many evidence. And leaving everything which will give a khariji vibe, you will leave many parts of Religion. This is not a takfir on others, it was never said untill he is dead, rather a greatest reminder for self. Stop spreading fitnah, go watch those other opinion and leave others who follow this opinion.

A Muslim should believe in all of the pillars and act upon it.
but be careful guys.. when it comes to takfir, you cannot make takfeer easily. just because not praying means you are kaif (in the basics of law) there are many precedents that need to be met to make takfeer and we do not do it, the government does. takfeer is a serious matter that needs to be taken seriously. and we never know what people truly died on. we can only pray that whoever died, died on islam.
just like how stealing for cutting the hand isn't universal for all stealing, there are prerequisites for that. that's why even though there is a clear hadith for praying there is a discussion and it's not totally universal.
finally, just because people in your family don't pray, you start calling them kafir. try being nice and subtle to strengthen their eman, also invite them to pray with you and be patient with them.
when you start calling them kafir, it will only send them further away from prayer
assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
but wait a minute. what if someone says the shahada in his deathbed and dies before can even learn how to do salat?
isn't it true that an uncle of the prophet was dying and the prophet (saw) asked him to say the shahada so that the prophet (saw) could defend his uncle before Allah (swt) on the Day of Judgement? And how could the prophet (saw) defend his uncle if he wasn't a muslim?

I hope someone can answer this inshallah.
Does this ruling only apply to one who did not pray AT ALL during his life, as in he didn’t pray even once ? Or does it also apply to someone who prayed but gave it up later in his life ? If so, what is the minimum duration of not praying in order to be expelled from Islam ?
What if he used to pray before but because of the illness even when told to him he left the prayer for around half or one month and died in that illness. Will he be counted in this. Please inform me
Thats a tragic way to die.
May Allah protect us from dying upon kufr.
tauheed, 5 times fard salat, zakat, fasting in ramadan, hajj all are mandatory just to say you are muslim
If someone don’t sometimes pray fajr but prays rest of the 4 prayers also fall under this category?
Sometimes when we wake someone I know for fajr they says they’re not feeling well so they’ll pray later (after sunrise)
brother, the comment section is not a good place to ask. only the opinion of scholars should be taken
can I reupload this
Was this opinion changed later ?
Say if I take my shahada and then doubt if I was being sincere or not
Does that still make a Muslim ?
If you take shahada and believe in it your a muslim..if you dont believe in it your not.
@@peopleofknowledge1 what if I don't know
Like I have a feeling where I have to force to believe that I am a Muslim
@@Scorpion-wv1hs when taking your shahada, you have to believe in that there is no deity that has the right to be worshipped except Allah and that the prophet Mohammed (SAW) is the messenger of Allah. After that, your faith will grow in time by increasing your good deeds and learning more of Islam.

I'm scared now.
may Allah eases the prayer for you.ameen
Sad fact : implementing this fatwa will be impossible since the vast majority of Muslims don’t pray five times a day.

The hadith is "العهد الذي بيننا وبينهم الصلاة فمن تركها فقد كفر
‘The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is the prayer, and whoever abandons it has disbelieved (become a kaafir).’”

@@kingofillyria601 Jazakallahu khayr, is there one translated into English?
The description given is the opinion of the uploader of this video.
Im sorry but it is not a correct opinion
Are you truly a believer if you don’t pray to Allah SWT? What the sheikh said is all facts
The sheikh give you as an example of the hypocrites which in the Quran, they have act upon thier shahada!
Stop spreading fitnah, go watch those other opinion and leave others who follow this opinion.
the stronger opinion is the opposite
I wouldnt call someone who doesnt pray a kafir i dont know this is up to allah to judge. Maybe he doesnt pray today but tomorrow he starts, maybe someone who prays for years becomes a disbeliever. Only allah knows whats inside the hearts
