So at around 10:00 you can clearly see in the top left my Darts had entered Onyx Watch territory and that was why they ended up declaring war on us, thankfully they were the next group we were going to attack anyway so no real harm done! Being dyslexic and normally not even trying to bother to read the messages that pop up there quickly all the time (E.g. engine messages from craft and so on) I just completely didn't notice. I had also sent the Darts over there when the tile was still under Deep Water Guard control, but the onyx watch had grabbed It just as the Darts got there, hence why the Iron Cordon was just chilling in that tile to kill them as soon as war was declared & why I wasn't really looking out for messages like that since I thought I was taking a DWG tile!
I think you should use emp, but under the condition that it is combined with either high explosive or flak rounds, in a one to one ratio. I have used this before when playing, it’s a really good handicap.
As to why your bombs did well vs the LAMS, It may be due ot the fact they have no thrust. The lasers were aiming slightly ahead of its fin angled flight path facing, but gravity constantly had them slip down, so didnt that make the lasers constantly hit high and occassionally miss their targets?
.
Used slow motion and that appears to be the case. Early on before they picked up downwards inertia they hit fairly consistantly, but as time passed more and more shots ended up firing high.
I propose turing Iron Cordon into a mortar ship because it fit well with the slow and heavy theme of both Onyx wath and Nurgle. A for EMP you should use it only on a selected few dedicated craft, and leave Prototype with it because EMP is so in theme with Tzeench
Just send YOUR Iron Cordon against theirs and have prototype as support. By the times EMPs hit, you'd still have 1.5 intact Iron Cordon combined between the two:D
i would do EMP becuz, the EMP missiles will disable them
Lath, remember. Theme is having different craft for different stuff. So, you can have craft that used EMP and and craft that didnt used EMP.

Well, they shot at infantry and armour with Flak cannons, but when they did that they loaded them with HEF, and APHE shells instead of Minengeschöss.

@Kevin Waldman
That wasn't my point, my point was that they didn't use Flak for AT and APers.
Recently-promoted Vice Admiral Wright looked over his holotable, reading the status reports from his own ship and the 157 ship strong fleet he had been recently thrown in command of. His own ship was able to be mostly repaired, however.
Not only had forty-three ships been destroyed - the former flagship included - by the Lathryxian fleet, damn near every single one of his remaining vessels had taken some form of damage. In some cases, the ships were nearly crippled.
And to add to all that.. they had only cut the Legion’s size down by barely a fifth. Of their original eighty ships, sixty four still remained. By the raw numbers, it seemed that the Resistance fleet would be coming out on top of any further fleet action, even if only barely. However, Wright knew better. He was still facing the majority of the enemy heavy vessels.
Despite all these odds, Wright knew that enemy reinforcements would arrive far before friendly ones would. The implications of this were obvious - he had to take out that enemy fleet, and fast. Maybe he’d have a fighting chance.
“Katherine, hail the destroyer leading frigate group two. I need volunteers for a.. particularly dangerous mission.”
“Aye sir, opening a channel now.”
After barely a few moments, the supercomputer established and encrypted a comms signal.
The captain of the destroyer Heracles popped up on the forward viewscreen of the Iron’s bridge. The ship’s captain, one Captain Edwards, was ready to address the Rear Admiral.
The man, in his early 30s, snapped a perfect and crisp salute.
“Sir! What would you have us do?”
Wright returned the salute.
“How many nukes are you and your squadron carrying, Captain?”
“Admiral, sir, the Heracles has two high-yield nuclear weapons on board. Each remaining frigate in the squadron is carrying another. That makes five nukes.
“Good. I trust you remember your briefing about your battlegroup’s new experimental capabilities?”
“Aye sir, I do.”
“Excellent, Captain. I want you and yours to lay all nuclear weapons available at the positions marked on your and my holotables.”
He took a moment to look over the indicated areas.
“Sir, these are in the middle of the debris field - far out of range of the enemy vessels if we detonate the weapons.”
“I am aware of that, Captain. I intend to use them as mines.”
“Understood, Admiral. We’re ready to move.”
“Move immediately, Captain. I’m going to need those nukes set within two hours. Make it happen.”
“Aye, sir. Moving now.”
The feed cut, and the Rear Admiral got to planning the next phase of this new operation.
“Katherine, order the repair and refit station to move between us and the enemy fleet. I also want the carriers ready to charge the enemy and jump away.”
“Aye aye, hailing Athena and Daedalus now.”
The only two ships in the fleet that hadn’t taken damage, the 2,000 meter long heavy carriers, flared their engines and shot towards the enemy fleet. Once they were halfway to the target, they launched their strikecraft - four hundred craft in total.
Meanwhile, the sensor-invisible frigates and destroyers equipped with stealth and nukes deposited them in the middle of the debris field. Hopefully, the enemy wouldn’t notice their radiation readings and fire on them..
The carriers, their strikecraft in front of them, flew directly at the Lathryxian fleet at damn near stupendous speeds.
The carriers fired their full railgun arsenal at the Lathryxians, with little effect, and immediately warped out to the other side of the debris field. Their strikecraft fired every single missile they had - over a thousand contacts - and managed to drop another 1000-meter vessel. Then, they turned tail and ran through the field.
The Lathryxian vessels took the bait, descending on the two carriers like a swarm of angry sharks. They plowed through the debris field, taking down strike craft left and right with their lasers. By the time they hit the nukes, only two hundred of the bombers and fighters remained. As they closed on the escaping fighters, they tightened their formation significantly.
But hit the nukes they did.
A firestorm of radiation and nuclear heat enveloped the demon’s ships. As it cleared, a scene of pure carnage emerged from the six miniature suns that now dominated every viewscreen.
No less than seventeen smaller enemy vessels were now floating space debris, and the shields flickered out on another twenty. Two ships were disabled by EMP, and nearly every Chaos vessel had its’ sensors disabled. Taking advantage of their enemy’s new blindness, the squadron of stealth warships disabled their sensor baffles and cloak, only to concentrate firepower on one of the 2km long enemy vessels. Said ship soon fell out of formation belching flame, and the stealth ships jumped out.
Not willing to give the demons a break, Wright turned to Katherine’s mainframe and his communications officer.
“I want every vessel we have to jump point-blank to the alien vessels. We can’t afford to give them a break, or fight them at range.”
“Aye sir, sending orders now.”
The lieutenant had a slight tinge of fear in his voice, but pushed it aside through grim determination and sheer training. This scene was replayed many times across the fleet, as the Resistance vessels jumped within visual range of the enemy warships.
“Fire full alpha strike, then order all vessels to fire at will. Target shieldless opponents.” Wright growled, looking out at the red dot that was a demonic Battlecruiser - barely two-hundred kilometers distant.
The moment the final resistance ship jumped in, a wave of white-hot railgun slugs flew out of the barrels of the spinal and turreted railguns of the Resistance fleet. Nearly two-hundred 500mm slugs moving at 100 km/s tore towards the demonic fleet, followed by the blue lances of particle cannons and the streaks of missiles. At this range, even some of the CIWS mounts spoke - throwing thousands and thousands of slugs towards the terrifyingly powerful warships staring them down. The turreted anti-ship railguns flared, firing 100mm solid slugs at 100 km/s.
No less than twenty demonic vessels were immediately obliterated, with the sheer volume of fire at such a close range downing the shields on several of the remaining twenty. Even the majority of the missiles managed to make it through, the point-blank range allowing it.
Wright didn’t have the time to fully appreciate the full effects of his salvo, however. The demons, having recovered from the nuclear hellfire they had found themselves in not long ago, returned fire with equal ferocity. Lasers, blood-red particle cannons, and railguns lanced out from the hellish vessels. Their initial salvo alone had already destroyed or disabled forty more Resistance vessels - ten of them the more durable Cruisers and Battlecruisers.
The Resistance fleet fired again. Another wave of railgun slugs perforated ten more vessels. This time, however, every ship with nukes in the fleet sent them flying, covering them with a conventional screen to distract the enemy point defenses. While half of the nukes were shot down, due to the close range the other half managed to make it through. And when they did.. the ten remaining Lathryxian ships simply broke apart.
Nonetheless, the remaining Legion vessels fired one more time before their decimation. Nearly every single cruiser and battlecruiser was torn to shreds this time, rather than the lighter warships that had previously been eviscerated. Only one battlecruiser, the Iron, and two cruisers remained. One of the two carriers also broke apart.
Despite their efforts, the Lathryxian Legion was even worse off. What was left of the once-mighty armada was turned into space dust by several miniature suns.
Crews all across the fleet cheered, while officers allowed themselves small smiles. A few minutes passed before Ensign King, manning the starboard sensor station, spoke up.
“I think you should see something for yourself, sir. I’ve never seen anything like it before.”
The Vice Admiral walked over to King’s station, looking at the console. It was indeed something very.. new. There was almost certainly something coming in via warp, but instead of there being the typical group of contacts there were only two distinct.. blobs.
Wright looked at the screen, and decided to play things safe.
“Lieutenant Awtry! Sound general quarters. Warp the fleet to the original battle line location. Give me an ETA as soon as you’re able.”
“Aye sir. Warp drives recharged in one minute, most of the fleet already has theirs ready.”
Wright nodded, walking to his original station. Not three seconds after he collapsed into the captain’s chair, trying to relax, flashes of light appeared on the live camera feeds surrounding the Iron’s enclosed bridge. No less than two hundred and fifty Lathrixian warships had arrived, and they were incredibly close.
Not a moment too soon, the Iron’s drive finished charging. The fleet, already having been set to jump, did so.
The ships had been lucky to jump when they did. A Lathrixian fleet almost three times as large as the original had just arrived, and the Resistance had all of eighty-eight ships left - nearly all escorts.
What many of them forgot about, however, was the fact that there had been two incoming blobs on sensors. Wright knew, but simply prayed it wasn’t bound to be their doom.
An ensign at the port sensor station suddenly spun around, a look of shock on her face.
“Sir! Over a hundred and fifty more warp signatures! Jesus Christ, they’re right on top of us!”
Wright’s breath caught in his throat. No Council warp drive could hope to cover such a distance so fast.
“More Legion?”

I personally enjoy watching EMP weapons explode on target, it just has a charm that regular explosions don't have. I think EMP would be the equivalent of the "underdog" weapon, leaving stronger opponents undamaged but breaking their brains so that they can be retrofitted later. EMP should be a fitting weapon in this series, and I would love to see EMP stay in the campaign. Also, the retrofit episodes are so enjoyable :)
The corrupting blue energies of the gods of chaos in a small flying package.
It’s a good equalizer too a REALLY cheep emp death ray CAN be really good against basically a metal chunk at the bottom of the ocean which almost everything else would be terrible for
"You have an allied fleet trespassing in allied territory, this is hurting your relationship with them"
Lathrix after war gets declared: Well i'm war with the Onyx Watch and don't know why.
Eh, normally that top left section is spammed with messages from craft and since I'm dyslexic I tend not to keep trying to notice and read them anyway - for It to change like that for the very first time was very easy for me to miss! Will be on the lookout for It more in the future of course. :)
Especially since I moved the darts into DWG territory to avoid that, but the Onyx watch took one of those tiles before the darts got there causing the whole thing haha! Not expected! ^^
@Mike Griffith Masaki yeah i can see why its dumb, but then again why should you be allowed to park an entire fleet on an allied faction's tile and just randomly declare war on that faction
If you find yourself in a fair fight, you didn't plan well enough. EMP for life.
I'm stealing that advice for one of my d&d characters. Thank you

im just gonna steal
@@yourlocalboatbuilder3574 but that's illegal *spartan face*
I'm stealing that advice so I can make 10 emp nukes.
From what I've seen EMP is in the hard or hard territory, IE it's either hard countered or is a hard counter itself, since it basically trades systems damage for actual damage, if it can't damage the systems it's basicly powerless, but if it can they're done
Ahh yes this hard territory is indeed hard
It'd be nice if EMP damage was just shock damage, and automatically healed itself over a short time. In order to utilize EMP this way, you'd need to keep firing on a craft to keep it suppressed, or do enough damage to actually break the blocks permanently.
I totally agree! A lot of FTD is about counters. Smoke can well counter lasers
LAMS, anti-missle missles, flares and CIWS can hard-counter missles.
HEAT is countered by air or ERA armor.
Explosive is lessened by spaces armor
AA weapons can decimate aircraft etc
Aye and in this case, it seems like it was an almost perfect hard counter to the iron Gordon. Emp is completely fair, because it can also be hard countered by something else. Not sure what that is, but can't wait to see more corruption via Lathrix
@@stormcmmdr1412 If I remember right, EMP can countered by insulating the hull with air/wood/stone or using HA and surge protectors to drain their damage potential
"Welcome back to the campaign" Is a phrase I never wanna live without again from you EVER. The Void Dragon commands you.

The funniest part of the video is when lathrix says "ignore the alcohol"
I am impressed by how well you resist the temptation to capture craft, for this series you should stick with the honour rule, however I would love to see a series where you capture as many enemy craft as possible and use those against the enemy. You would be allowed to design your own cargo vessel and capture vessel but that is it, it would be your choice wether you would be allowed to build ships of the enemy yourselve after you captured one of them before, and you can decide wether you may retrofit the craft or not.
That would be really fun to watch, her have to really pick his battles early on, maybe no retrofits and no using his craft.
That could get repetitive though. Might be cool in the beginning, but towards the end not so much.
Unless lathrix uses harpoons and acts like a pirate!
@OvenCake
Perhaps, but he’d still be able to use captured ships against the enemy (and retrofit them, if he allows himself to do it) - meaning that he’d constantly have to be making a choice between capturing yet another enemy craft and simply destroying his opponent with what he already has. Never was it said he had to capture LITERALLY EVERY craft he comes across.
I had an idea where he would make a capture vehicle called nurgles rot and the only way he could get vehicles is through capturing and retrofitting
Remember the OP laser you made when you did that weird series with the portals? Nobody is stopping you from making more
You mean adventure mode? With the ... crap now I have to go back because he never said the capitals name but he did name it.

I've seen you do these campaigns for such a long long time man. I've grown up watching your videos, like several years.
Same, I’ve been hooked on his channel since FtD s3 I think. How about you?
@@alkazaronyx8599 Been around since that blocky missile sub, where they didnt have advanced cannons and only those old ones, and he completed the campaign by killing the scarlet dawn with a big laser satellite. I think season 2 or 1.
Jimbo Vitikan yeah I’d say you win
Well, that's one way to take down an Iron Cordon. XD
On that note, the Prototype probably got through the Iron Cordon's LAMS by just overwhelming it, since EMP missiles don't have any more health than HE or frag missiles. But unlike HE missiles at least, they don't damage each other when they explode. Only solid missile bodies add any significant degree of health to missiles.
in this episode of "lathrix disobeys the geneva convention" we follow lathrix as he lobbys the Onyx Watch into endless naval warfare, which is just like regular warfare but much more expensive
Heyo Lathrix! You asked for input on EMP so heres my input!
I think that you should allow EMP to be one of the main damage types but only for specialized crafts meant to capture eneimes, since you wanted to sort of have every craft fill a role in your fleet I think this would be a cool option having the more "humane" craft focused on capture and conversion and the main fleet focused on death and destruction!
My god I love Lathrix FtD playthroughs!
I mean, part of the fun of watching you play this lath is just obliterating the enemy. Blood for the blood god and all that, throw everything at them that you can and if they're not strong enough to resist, well sucks to be them.
keep useing emp
surprisingly a lot of the onyx watch now have major defences against it now
also it kinda just looks cool at this point
especialy when you where stood on the deck of the enemy ship as the prototype flew by and it looked like the bombs appeared out of the smoke

Lathrix just casually and unknowingly captures a godly onyx watch craft... i wonder what kind of abomination this will turn out to be... nothing could possibly go wrong...
how about only Tzeentch themed crafts are allowed to use EMP ^^ and the only faction it is really "too" effective against is the Onyx watch (atleast in my eyes) maybe you want to not deploy tzeentch themed crafts against them, I feel like they need to be taken on by khorne or nurgle based crafts ^^
Personally i like EMP for capturing, but i feel like it would be too OP for regular combat. My suggestion is that you use EMP for capture missions, but not when just trying to eliminate targets.
Emp isn't op, just no one expects the craft that deals nothing but massive EMP damage fron pretty much every possible angle.
Emp is useless on guns and even most of the missiles because AI hits only one spot instead of peppering whole craft.
@@koghs well his bomber certainly peppers the whole craft.
@@blizzard2508-k7n this faction is intentionally really susceptible to EMP, and this craft won't bee really effective in real combat due to size and relatively slow speed and short attack range. Also munition for this thing is terribly expensive.
@@koghs I understand the faction is susceptible to emp, but the rest of the argument is against the craft itself and not EMP.
The munition is expensive, but it's not any more expensive than other missiles?

The Simoon is the DWG's light cargo ship (the Walrus is the heavy cargo) so that's why you'll see them hanging around their HQ as they deliver supplies to let the HQ build new units. I think they're also the dedicated repair unit, so if an enemy survives an encounter the AI will send a repair unit to fix them up. As for your praise for the Simoon's use of steam pistons, Karbengo is quite proud of that one.
9:34 imagine missing on purpose to save your loved one only to be forced to shoot it anyway!!! You’re a good guy Lathland -_-
Why is no one praising Tzeentch on how he made the emps more efficient

I've got uni tomorrow and this it is 9:30pm rn. Feels like a good sendoff to bed. Wew.
Another excellent video, quite looking forward to the next one 😎👍👍
Emp would be helpful in the short term as a stopgap in the Legions arsenal while a new weapon is developed for the bigger threats 😎👍👍
And the lore could easily be molded around the Emp being an emergency stopgap measure 😎👍👍
1:11 who else loves it when Lathrix does this 😂
Lathy, thanks for keeping the series and if you went towards a little more demolition than EMP capture I think that's pretty sweet
I love the blue design you added at the front of the Morray, it's the little things that count..... ok well no, the big things count, but the little things are nice too.
I think you should put EMP only on dedicated EMP craft to stick to the theme of specialisation. Actually just leave the Prototype as your EMP craft because it is in flavor with Tzeench
Emp missiles do not have special lams resisting properties, they take the same damage as any other missle type
13:00 Gotta love bells adding to the background
Holy I watched this 5mins after release well anyway its awesome lath
Lathrix you get a like for that damn good gag at the start
You could make the simmon into a more brawler like ship similar to the moray but with missiles and cram
I can't wait to see more of this series
Those little drone ships remind me of river monitors from the late 19th century. A small ship with a low waterline, heavy armor and a single turret.
Corsair = Courier
Also, the phrase "All's fair in love and war" is all the answer you need to if EMP is too over-powered.
the fire rate, impact, and form factor of that advanced turret makes me of a real life Otomatic naval turret, just hammering away at the enemy
No longer the MORay, now the GORay. may its fight be eternal!
On the EMP issue, isn't this campaign all about giving specific roles to each craft? Because I think that one, maybe 2 dedicated EMP crafts still allow plenty of room for usage without them becoming a recurring "three second win", especially if you dont mass-produce them
is there an interest in having allies in FTD? and can you win the game without killing your allies?
Not rn
From my understanding not yet. But there are plans to make it so they can send you resources (and accept resources), ships, etc. As well as fight your enemies with you and stuff. Though if you are too greedy you could make your ally weak and fall under enemy attack.
Furthermore the condition to win the game with allies is also planned so you don't have to backstab them.
@@R4V3-0N cool! So for now lathrix will have to eliminate all heretics and make the blood flow!
i like the overpowered shit tbh, EMP bursts are super fun to look at.
I think you should be able to use emp but any craft with emp as its primary should be badly armoured kind of like a glass cannon this would lead you to only use it when your confident it will work and also adding some risk
Onyx Watch: 60 friendly
2 seconds later
Lathrix: By the way, we're at war with the Onyx Watch...
Definitely have some emp centered builds! Not all of them, but a fair few, like a rail gun, missiles, particle cannon, and the like
Ah, lathrix. Always so subtle.
I thought of an interesting idea for this playthrough. Basically you always have to be fighting two factions at once (unless there is only one faction left). Idk if that would be good or not It was just an idea🤷
That fight against the Iron Cordon is how it goes every single time I build a small aircraft. Just obliterated immediately without having any effect on the fight.
19:09 The four darts that scarified their lifes
:(
Keep EMP but have a rule that only 1-3 of your ships can have it so you can’t just cover them in EMP that should let you keep it and you will have to move your ships around once you have a larger area to control
Ah yes, spreading goodguyism to the next faction
As far as the EMP question goes I would say keep the destructive weaponry as primary systems while having a small EMP output such as 2 or 3 large EMP missiles that don’t fire to often. This would let you break through their armor and possibly destroy the mainframe with the destructive weapons first, while as back up, the EMP can get inside of the target and destroy the mainframe without having to worry about going through several layers of armor and/or surge protectors.
I think you should use it. I like watching ya capture and alter ships sending them after thief own kind.
Liked the video because of that smooth AF satellite.
I personally prefer seeing you capture enemy vehicles. It adds a new things to corrupt and enslav- err spread the good word of our Lord and savior Khorne. It's always nice to see the enemy ships seeing the error of their ways and joining our cause. It would be oh so amazing to see some converts from every enemy faction embrace the ... Unending love of Khorne and Nurgle. Having an army made up of only converts would be so interesting in the final few battles.
When lathrix says someone is getting fired, they are definitely getting “fired”
Can i request you to fit the morray Railgun with a shell changning logic for different enemy types? just as a fun test, i could never figure that out myself
I find it quite funny that the prototype bomber not only managed to evade most of the Iron Cordon's missiles, but hit it so hard that some of its missiles turned around and shot itself.
Also, I think the reason you found success with EMP against the Iron Cordon isn't because of the power of EMP, but the sheer number of missiles the prototype drops. Watching the footage, a lot of them hit the wooden decking and were completely ineffective, and many of them also went to the surge protectors in the hull, but when dropping over a hundred separate EMP bombs per strike, some of them hit the right places to take out the majority of the guns. Note that the Iron Cordon seems to be intended to fight surface ships with its massive heavy missiles and side cram cannons, and only has those advanced cannons intended for defence against light aircraft and surface vehicles, like the Darts, not heavy aircraft like the prototype which outran its missiles, dodged its cram shells and simply didn't need to worry about the advanced cannons. It's a natural counter, and likely would've won eventually with conventional bombs too.
