Yeah This and Stability will mean that Dediblade spam is not really viable anymore as a way to make super cheap and good at everything craft which is great.

Following the old weapon name theme, the helicopter could be called the "hwacha," which was a fifteenth century rocket launcher from Korea. It fits the helicopter's function; strong burst damage at the beginning using missile volleys, and it's also just fun to say. Regardless, I look forward to what this campaign will bring.
From The Depth is a series I wish to see continued in the future! Also, I’d love to see an overview of the systems on your craft in more detail, especially when we get to big complex vehicles.
With the planes, maybe you could configure their engine and AI to go faster on the retreat, and slower on the attack? And perhaps the helicopters could also be made to strafe around the enemy, or go back and forth to help them dodge enemy fire.
It seems like the weapons designs this time around are air-based. This faction seems to have their "warships" being hovercraft. This sounds fun, and it would allow them to invade islands with relative ease and protect them too.
Yeah, the campaign is currently playable, though be warned if you want the AI to spawn anything scary you are going to have to give them a lot of time.
After watching a certain amphibians FtD streams, its nice to watch a competent builder make things that actually work. P.S. I think the interceptor should be named something like "Striker" or "Dagger". While the little heli should be called "Horsefly" because of how small yet powerfull it is. Edit: Spelling
You really should make an aircraft carrier that works as your “mobile base” in either the campaign or an adventure mode. With tiny little aircraft and little helicopters.
Helicopter name suggestion: Name: Khornenucopia/ Ravenwatchers/ Ravenguard/Crowfreat (allows for stuff like a “murder of Crowfreat” and “I really need some Crowfreat right now.” Semi lore stuff (idk what im doing): The (helicopter name) was originally a prototype of the steel striders. With advances in doctrine and a increase of pirate activity in their territory, the steel striders decided to commission a new helicopter. It was made to provide a low cost and upkeep solution to patrol for pirates and skirmishes from other factions, capable of decimating other light craft, especially in groups. However expectations of the craft grew, and more and more stuff got piled on until the goals became impossible to fulfill. The first demonstration to the military ended in disaster as the helicopter struggled to lift off the ground before a malfunction that was “fixed” caused the already strained engine to explode, causing the helicopter to plummet into the ground, killing the pilot; with the terrible first show and costs rising way over budget, the government ended the program and all remaining test vehicles were sent for scraping. However a few managed to be sold to the black market through bribes before they were scraped, but most went to the other factions hungry for steel strider tech; a single helicopter though found its way to deep water guard territory where it was left to rot. Years later a certain ambitious pirate with dreams of world conquest and “being the good guys” heard rumors of an advanced prototype helicopter and went searching for it, after months of searching he found it in a junkyard of a abandoned shipyard and retrofitted to working order. Much to the pirates disappointment just about all advanced components were just memories at this point and he had no blueprints, so the he just had to guess what was supposed to go where; the pirate put a massive rusting rotary cannon from a old patrol boat, fed with scrap iron shells and hopes and dreams of it functioning in the compartment for the auto cannons, instead of a rack of advanced laser targeted atgms, it had 2 makeshift missiles controlled a old computers found in scrapyards filled with as much explosive as it could possibly fit without it just dropping out of the sky, where an engine is supposed to go the engine of a speedboat was bolted and strapped in, with a rocket placed at the back because he couldn’t figure out tilting, and new propellers were sourced from old turbine blades ground into shape. Anything modern or small and/or non-essential wasn’t added; like flares, armor, and a ejection seat. Despite all this hacking together, when it was finished, and tested in the trial of battle, it preformed well; in fact so well it managed to beat the performance of the original design and do the original intended goal. Under its new master it is now and fast and deadly menace; capable of blowing apart the enemy with its missiles, can put down sustained fire with its rotary cannon, and it is extremely cheap to build and run so can be run in large swarms; sure it might be somewhat lacking in firepower by itself and doesn’t even know the concept of armor, but lets see the enemy try to defend 12 of these things, and if you get shot down? Well your replacement is probably already flying to your position. Ya know, the more I think about it, the more it seems like this thing is basically the imperial guardsmen.
The helicopters could be called Hyenas, since they pick at the weaker prey and provide finishing blows when they scavenge. The interceptor could keep the animal theme by being the Hound class, since it hounds its enemy and persistently hunts them.
Name suggestion for the heli trio, stingers, they have a big initial punch and then have sustained dmg, kinda like a bee sting with the initial sting and then the venom
I have found that one of the most cost effective vehicles early game is a torpedo bomber, I use long medium missiles on the cheapest plane hull I can make, I can get them to cost ~6000 resource and 5 of them are enough to take on the crossbones. I usually have them fire the torpedo's fairly far away, ~1000 meters so AA is unable to do much, they also fly high until they drop the torpedo's, so they act kinda like dive bombers. You don't even need good detection on them because the torpedo's lock on. I know you like missiles so I thought you might enjoy making something like a torpedo bomber!
A later upgraded Crossbow with extended body, and ‘wings’ or ‘bow’ bits so they’re not so stumpy would look nice. You could that back area with laser bits for a munition defense system that you can they put on the tips of those bow parts, beef up that cram a bit, and keep the strafe and you’d have a nice fleet support vehicle. Maybe call it something like the ExcaliBow or something more clever. You should also check out making a Mass Driver for late game shenanigans. They’re crazy.
Humming spike for the plane and the flying doom sisters for the helicopter are the best I could come up with for names :) I hope you feel better soon Lath.
Loving the more condensed editing of this one, makes it very easy to watch. Editing FTD videos seems like a nightmare so having just the good bits (beginning/end of build and fights) hopefully makes life easier. Looking forward to the next one! The Crossbow also reminds me of the Star Wars AAT which is pretty coo.
I'd love to see you experiment some more with AI in these designs. For instance, the little strike craft could use a spiral diving/retreating pattern instead of a straight one, which would make it much harder to hit. Lots of simple things like that could let you shed some of that bulky armor for extra speed or damage, as well as a lower profile. Also you missed a huge opportunity when you made a crossbow shaped ship and didn't give it a massive spinal cannon in the middle.
Since you named the blue craft the crossbow, you should keep with a medieval naming scheme. The helicopter can be called the sling since its a weak vehicle, theyre a bunch of them, and theyre mostly burst damage with those missiles. The plane should be called the pike since it keeps enemies at a distance
I don't think that you can program IA to aim at diferent parts. BUT if you do, I would change the priority of the plaine to target first the propulsion sistems. Being the fastest, that helps bringing down dodgy enemies.
Alternatively, if we're going to be in keeping with the medieval equipment theme; the copters could be named Helm/helmet/helmut(this one is just for a silly spelling) , and the interceptors Partisan/Ranseur.(as for the names, like the cross bow its for how they look, not what they do. feel free to look them up)
There I was making my own FTD videos when I felt a disturbance in the force... Literally checked your channel out of the blue to find you are coming back to FTD! You got me into FTD and I probably wouldn't have started a channel without that so I can't wait to see more!
The helicopters are ready cool. A craft with a powerful opening salvo that retreats to a more supportive role after the first bit of combat. I think that the healing forward dude should be called a banner and the two on the side could be called flanks maybe. I’d love to see a crossbow flanked by two of the banners for an even more elite tank+healer type formation.
It's technically impossible to make a healer AI, unless you set their circle around enemy at the same distance, and maybe get lucky they go the same way at the same time. Pisses me off, cuz I have tried to make healer crafts so many times. I wanted a healer helicopter to rescue my downed planes, as to not waste them, but alas, it's not possible, yet. Note: Even with LUA it's not possible, cuz you can't set a target position, which would literally take the devs 5 minutes or less to add to the LUA functions list. Such a waste.
Welcome back to fwam the depfhs! The crossbow really gave me an idea for a new craft, though I already had an one like it is was working on. it's just a bit ambitious and I'm scared to make it well. A Giant crab water skimmer that encircles enemies a high speeds and shoots nearly point blank cramz

if you want to give meta a go, big 4-8 meter 500 mm. pen depth aps is the way to go and is great fun to watch. Its Armor peiceing head, solid, he, he,he, and then an optional supercav. Of course you tend to just create your own stuff that for some reason performs really well and looks amazing, so you do you.
Crossbow Hovercraft (Looks like a crossbow), Katar Helicopter (large central cannon, two small side guns), Shiv Close-Air-Support Fighter (dives into knife fighting range then retreats, program to attack enemies from the rear for a 'backstab' aesthetic).
A interesting idea I have is to make a slighter bigger plane to lead a wing of the planes, sort of the Pack leader that could have like one medium missile in the center to kinda differentiate it, and also could be something that can replace the cheap ones when you get to the mid-late game? Food for thought
Good to see your back uploading ftd. Can't wait to watch this and the campaign. A name suggestion for the plane is the Vulture, since they will eventually be deployed in groups. One design I would like to see is similar to the old plague guard but even more tanky and larger, with larger guns. Maybe even a LAMS for the ship.
the choppers are a 'Trident' of Pilum. the interceptor may be call it the Rabbit; hops away before it gets hit, two fisted punch to the guts from the guns and most likely wont survive a direct hit. try an Catamaran carrier type that launches a swarm of zodiac (fast attack two ammo crates) to act like skirmishers to distract weapons fire instead of aircraft. that has aegis missile like system for attack and defence.
The crossbow looks really sick and I love the straife dance. Can definitively feel some Stellaris vibes in its design ;) The smaller craft look great too. Having some cheap & fragile craft in your FTD battles makes them more dramatic, and increases the chance of explosions. *I care not from whence the explosions come, only that they do.*
I started watching you when you made your very first FTD vid. You got me in to FTD (kind of miss the original simplicity of FTD - simple weapons - missiles - custom cannons) So glad you started making FTD vids again, ive never stopped playing. PS I despise stellaris but had your vids play in the background anyway just to give you more views lol
Those little helis remind me of a previous design, the Khorn flakes, and given you put a khorn logo on one, maybe name it something like the khorn gull? And then make the rest after other gods, maybe that your character is some sort of prophet, and each design is a gift of each god’s power
The naming scheme of different weapons is quite interesting and has quite a bit of room for upgrading and upscaling. Like keeping with the crossbow's general design, a larger better version could be named 'the ballista' or a mortar version could be a 'catapult/trebuchet'. As for the other two, maybe 'dart/blowdart' for the plane and possibly 'shuriken' for the helicopter. Unfortunately, that's the best I'm able to come up with without using a generator for the names.
IT HAS BEEN LOG ENOUGH!!! also with the advanced cannon plane what about making it strafe the enemy with a ventral gun that can move 180 degrees under the plane.
you could give the crossbow an upgrade package in the future. Give it a nice metal shield at the front, increase the cram size and call it the ballista.
I had an idea for a defense craft/structure called the pontifex, basically it's either a satellite or a high flying craft that has a partical cannon on its belly that would gut anything that gets too close to base/mothership. That may be like a midgame thing but still I thought it was cool
I have a idea for this fleet, you have 4 different sections off of each god. Khornes' stuff is either glass cannons or like dreadnoughts, slanneshs' is speed/mobility, tzeentch is really weird and then nurgle is like carriers and stuff

I think this play through you should use weapons you don't use to often, or different like slower firing Advanced cannons on the plane. Name suggestion for the heli: Flag bearer or Chaos Standard, as in standard-bearer.
Ooh, could eventually make a larger and more powerful and long range crossbow and call it the ballista. It comes with pre-existing improved-form names!
Hey lathrix for stellaris you should do a challenge where you abuse the vassal system to make another empire really powerful and try and have them fight the endgame crisis. You are not allowed to fight alongside them

As for names... What about something like "The Crystal" for the plane? Swarm of "Crystals". They kind of looks like crystals anyways, and they have... quite sharp edges, that they can use to chip bit by bit the enemies off the battlefield = )
One thing you should try building is a torpedo/missle nuke that starts in the air then submerges and goes towards enemy vehicles and blows up when it touches the enemy
With APS aircraft, you can do some nonsense with a bit of extra gauge cooler 'n recoil absorption. Built a decent sized "shotgun" type APS, just need to build a plane to carry it now. Fires three bursts of six simultaneous 60mm shells, with a few seconds between cycles.
I finally got robocraft a couple weeks ago (after watching certain videos from this channel years ago) and already know the build-y mood. Makes building more fun. Same with LEGOs.
really excited for another ftd campaign! you could stick with medieval weaponry for names, naming the helicopters daggers, and the interceptor a short sword. Coming from the idea that you could take the crossbow and make a larger version of it later down the line, and call it the ballista. Big crossbow.
If you go with weapon names for the vehicles, like the Crossbow, you could call the interceptor or first craft arrowtip or arrow. It kind of looks like that. the copters could be buckshot or shotgun possibly. The added bonus of having weapon themed names is that you can take inspiration from weapons it terms of looks but also function. Like the crossbow has the same form a crossbow. The crossbow looked like a manta ray the first time i saw it to be honest. Love the FtD content you make. Rediscovered your channel maybe 6 months ago after loosing it for maybe 2 years. Think I found this channel around 2016 ish the first time round. Still looking forward to FtD. Hope you kick COVID and become healthy soon, but take the time needed. Also, the fact that you redesign things make your crafts seem possible to build for people with less experience since you don't seem like you can build everything on the first try, but show us the progress which is very enjoyable and one of the reasons I watch you and only your FtD content. I'd love to see you experiment some more with AI in these designs. For instance, the little strike craft could use a spiral diving/retreating pattern instead of a straight one, which would make it much harder to hit. Lots of simple things like that could let you shed some of that bulky armor for extra speed or damage, as well as a lower profile. Also you missed a huge opportunity when you made a crossbow shaped ship and didn't give it a massive spinal cannon in the middle.
you should check out the new propellers that are in beta (they are the replacement for dedi blades) btw the crossbow is so cool

Since you named the blue craft the crossbow, you should keep with a medieval naming scheme. The helicopter can be called the sling since its a weak vehicle, theyre a bunch of them, and theyre mostly burst damage with those missiles. The plane should be called the pike since it keeps enemies at a distance
The jet could be the thunderstrike because it does a striking dive maneuver and does some burst damage
I see that Lathrix is making a Chaos Tau vessel for the hovercraft lol.
I don't think that you can program IA to aim at diferent parts. BUT if you do, I would change the priority of the plaine to target first the propulsion sistems.
Being the fastest, that helps bringing down dodgy enemies.

Alternatively, if we're going to be in keeping with the medieval equipment theme; the copters could be named Helm/helmet/helmut(this one is just for a silly spelling) , and the interceptors Partisan/Ranseur.(as for the names, like the cross bow its for how they look, not what they do. feel free to look them up)
There I was making my own FTD videos when I felt a disturbance in the force... Literally checked your channel out of the blue to find you are coming back to FTD! You got me into FTD and I probably wouldn't have started a channel without that so I can't wait to see more!

The helicopters are ready cool. A craft with a powerful opening salvo that retreats to a more supportive role after the first bit of combat. I think that the healing forward dude should be called a banner and the two on the side could be called flanks maybe. I’d love to see a crossbow flanked by two of the banners for an even more elite tank+healer type formation.
It's technically impossible to make a healer AI, unless you set their circle around enemy at the same distance, and maybe get lucky they go the same way at the same time.
Pisses me off, cuz I have tried to make healer crafts so many times. I wanted a healer helicopter to rescue my downed planes, as to not waste them, but alas, it's not possible, yet.
Note: Even with LUA it's not possible, cuz you can't set a target position, which would literally take the devs 5 minutes or less to add to the LUA functions list. Such a waste.

Side to side stepping of the Crossbow looks really nice and constant changing of movement makes it more dodgy so i would stay with that
if you want to give meta a go, big 4-8 meter 500 mm. pen depth aps is the way to go and is great fun to watch. Its Armor peiceing head, solid, he, he,he, and then an optional supercav. Of course you tend to just create your own stuff that for some reason performs really well and looks amazing, so you do you.
Crossbow Hovercraft (Looks like a crossbow), Katar Helicopter (large central cannon, two small side guns), Shiv Close-Air-Support Fighter (dives into knife fighting range then retreats, program to attack enemies from the rear for a 'backstab' aesthetic).

A interesting idea I have is to make a slighter bigger plane to lead a wing of the planes, sort of the Pack leader that could have like one medium missile in the center to kinda differentiate it, and also could be something that can replace the cheap ones when you get to the mid-late game? Food for thought
Good to see your back uploading ftd. Can't wait to watch this and the campaign. A name suggestion for the plane is the Vulture, since they will eventually be deployed in groups. One design I would like to see is similar to the old plague guard but even more tanky and larger, with larger guns. Maybe even a LAMS for the ship.
the choppers are a 'Trident' of Pilum.
the interceptor may be call it the Rabbit; hops away before it gets hit, two fisted punch to the guts from the guns and most likely wont survive a direct hit.
try an Catamaran carrier type that launches a swarm of zodiac (fast attack two ammo crates) to act like skirmishers to distract weapons fire instead of aircraft. that has aegis missile like system for attack and defence.

The smaller craft look great too. Having some cheap & fragile craft in your FTD battles makes them more dramatic, and increases the chance of explosions. *I care not from whence the explosions come, only that they do.*

I started watching you when you made your very first FTD vid. You got me in to FTD (kind of miss the original simplicity of FTD - simple weapons - missiles - custom cannons) So glad you started making FTD vids again, ive never stopped playing. PS I despise stellaris but had your vids play in the background anyway just to give you more views lol
Those little helis remind me of a previous design, the Khorn flakes, and given you put a khorn logo on one, maybe name it something like the khorn gull? And then make the rest after other gods, maybe that your character is some sort of prophet, and each design is a gift of each god’s power
The naming scheme of different weapons is quite interesting and has quite a bit of room for upgrading and upscaling. Like keeping with the crossbow's general design, a larger better version could be named 'the ballista' or a mortar version could be a 'catapult/trebuchet'.
As for the other two, maybe 'dart/blowdart' for the plane and possibly 'shuriken' for the helicopter.
Unfortunately, that's the best I'm able to come up with without using a generator for the names.

also with the advanced cannon plane what about making it strafe the enemy with a ventral gun that can move 180 degrees under the plane.
Could call the planes Belly Dancers, feels pretty Slaanesh with the colour scheme and matches the way it bounces low over the water!
you could give the crossbow an upgrade package in the future. Give it a nice metal shield at the front, increase the cram size and call it the ballista.

I had an idea for a defense craft/structure called the pontifex, basically it's either a satellite or a high flying craft that has a partical cannon on its belly that would gut anything that gets too close to base/mothership.
That may be like a midgame thing but still I thought it was cool

I have a idea for this fleet, you have 4 different sections off of each god. Khornes' stuff is either glass cannons or like dreadnoughts, slanneshs' is speed/mobility, tzeentch is really weird and then nurgle is like carriers and stuff
As a long time watcher (and now a fresh player) I am very happy to see the start of a new series

Hey Lathrix! You've got 3 vehicles set up and each one has a color scheme going for the Chaos Gods. Make a submarine and color it green then you could call the whole group, "The Ruinous Powers."
Boy is been a while lathrix, glad your back! Random idea for a more later game, a craft similar to the crossbow but with rapid fire particle cannons. I think this play through you should use weapons you don't use to often, or different like slower firing Advanced cannons on the plane.
Name suggestion for the heli: Flag bearer or Chaos Standard, as in standard-bearer.
Ooh, could eventually make a larger and more powerful and long range crossbow and call it the ballista. It comes with pre-existing improved-form names!
Hey lathrix for stellaris you should do a challenge where you abuse the vassal system to make another empire really powerful and try and have them fight the endgame crisis. You are not allowed to fight alongside them

Going with the weaponry theme on names, the interceptor could be called the Haladie, and the helicopter Sai. Both are daggers, originating from India and Japan respectively.

As for names... What about something like "The Crystal" for the plane? Swarm of "Crystals". They kind of looks like crystals anyways, and they have... quite sharp edges, that they can use to chip bit by bit the enemies off the battlefield = )
I like the name "Helios", you can give it to any of them. I also like the name "Torment", it fits your style of doing things.
One thing you should try building is a torpedo/missle nuke that starts in the air then submerges and goes towards enemy vehicles and blows up when it touches the enemy
With APS aircraft, you can do some nonsense with a bit of extra gauge cooler 'n recoil absorption. Built a decent sized "shotgun" type APS, just need to build a plane to carry it now. Fires three bursts of six simultaneous 60mm shells, with a few seconds between cycles.
I finally got robocraft a couple weeks ago (after watching certain videos from this channel years ago) and already know the build-y mood. Makes building more fun.
Same with LEGOs.

Coming from the idea that you could take the crossbow and make a larger version of it later down the line, and call it the ballista. Big crossbow.
Alternatively, the helicopters could be called bola. Kinda makes sense with their payload, coming in sets of three, and burst damage setup.
If you go with weapon names for the vehicles, like the Crossbow, you could call the interceptor or first craft arrowtip or arrow. It kind of looks like that. the copters could be buckshot or shotgun possibly. The added bonus of having weapon themed names is that you can take inspiration from weapons it terms of looks but also function. Like the crossbow has the same form a crossbow. The crossbow looked like a manta ray the first time i saw it to be honest.
Love the FtD content you make. Rediscovered your channel maybe 6 months ago after loosing it for maybe 2 years. Think I found this channel around 2016 ish the first time round. Still looking forward to FtD. Hope you kick COVID and become healthy soon, but take the time needed. Also, the fact that you redesign things make your crafts seem possible to build for people with less experience since you don't seem like you can build everything on the first try, but show us the progress which is very enjoyable and one of the reasons I watch you and only your FtD content.
