    Can you imagine how terrifying it would be to engage in vehicle warfare against this man? He appears in the middle of nowhere, starts building incredibly effective craft, destroys all of the other factions easily and then starts deploying ICBMs without any remorse or offering any treaties or terms of surrender. And then, when you finally meet him, it’s just some jolly British chap playing a game for his RUclips fans.

    I kinda hope you try to build a genuine ICBM, like goes up, floats very high up (This is the only problematic part I see because I m not usre if there is "space" in FTD) and then drops like 3-10 warheads on the taget one after another, in fact you can even do it more realistic by making some of those warheads duds which would make it harder for AA to deal with, it is a intermediate challange but looking at your past builds I m sure you can pull it off (or maybe it is a job for drunktrix who knows)

    • @zetarhythm3503
      @zetarhythm3503 3 года назад +2

      Hi there, sorry for the incoming wall of text. Such a thing is entirely possible within a few limitations. Mostly, you'd need to actualy get a larger missile-like vehicle into space which would require awkward and/or expensive thrusters. Because in-game vehicle docks fail past 100 M/S, your actual high flight would have to be rather slow, unless you made the larger missile construct it's smaller missiles when approaching the target (which would be more expensive and would leave it vulnerable while building).
      Otherwise, yeah. It would work - you could use the Breadboards to tell the missile to fly in space until it was within a certain distance to the enemy, then switch over to a "point at target" system for the descent. That should, in theory, work at any angle so top attack would be viable and pretty hard to defend against although it might miss more agile enemies. As for the dud warheads, just using some metal armour around a "missile" with a ram on the front would work. Most AIs prefer closer and more heavily-armed targets, so if your dud was faster then it might soak up some extra attention from the actual payload missiles.
      I can visualise the missile using several "stages" spanning from it's launch through to impact:
      - Stage 1: Main missile ascends to space, aiming to level out at around 1,500m (Skip this stage if you're lauching the missile from space, of course)
      - Stage 2: Flight at 95 M/S until within 2km from the target (5 M/S is shaved off to account for turning)
      - Stage 3: Submissiles detach, with the faster duds detaching first or from in front of the actual warheads
      - Stage 4: All missiles accelerate to their top speeds on short delays to stagger their impacts, switching AI to "point at target"
      - Stage 5: Missiles impact in this order: Duds, Submissiles, Main missile
      All of this is entirely possible within the systems I'm familiar with, and I'm a below average player.

    Just an idea (and for the record I don't know what types of controls and such there are and how exactly they work) but what if you were to put a ram onto the front of the missile and put the nuke a few blocks behind, then have a controller that tells "after x amount of seconds after impact, detonate nuke". To try and make a sort of "armour piercing nuclear missile" because from what I've seen the nuke does a lot of damage against medium sized craft and does mainly external damage. This way the missile digs in and then blows up to do more damage to both the inside and outside. Possibly making it able to shred through heavy armour targets.

    Gotta say I still find it interesting that they removed fuel, and a way further back time, the different materials like natural and crystal and have made them all into “material”

    same thing but with the nukes on rotor arms, that deploy at 100meters.
    multiple nukes in the same blast area is only going to help is one nuke wont kill the ha blocks.

    Have you considered adding a Ram to the front? With the speed this thing moves at you might squeeze a fair bit of extra damage into it, maybe even penetrate deeper into craft to do more overall damage.

  • @avi8aviate
    @avi8aviate 3 года назад

    Mass drivers can be even deadlier. They're basically railguns with no recoil absorbers firing graviton rams into a projectile to fire it at ridiculous speeds, dealing immense impact damage. Adding nukes to the projectile makes it deal even more damage.

  • @towerofignis

    as funny a failure the first attempt to make it ram was, just slapping a turret on it and having it pepper the target while flying fast circles around it would look pretty rad.

    The Nuke tends to get stuck on water when enganging target whilst being on lower altitudes with "Point at" AI(even when focusing blocks above water). You can fix this by adding another behaviour card and add "Bomber" behaviour, then set altitude that suits you and let ACB switch from "Bomber" AI to "Point at" AI at your desired range.
    Also love the work with mimics, didnt realy knew how to utilize them, but now i cant get enough of them. Cheers!

    just a tip, Mimics contain some meshes that placeable blocks don't have. So in some cases the mesh you need isn't actually on a block but the mimics got it

    Reading some of the other comments about putting a ram spike on the tip of the icbm sounds like a great idea. would it be possible to make it with a few spikes that spin to add extra damage? combined with a small set of thrusters that ignite just before impact to help the icbm burrow before detonating?

  • @gaberielpendragon
    @gaberielpendragon 3 года назад +1

    As I recall the ammo parts of both APS and Cram cannon explode, could you load up a bunch of those into a ram craft to do serious damage? Also, using rams to armor the nuke to punch deeper into the target before exploding?

  • @EpsilonRosePersonal
    @EpsilonRosePersonal 3 года назад +1

    The damage on those nukes seems kind-of disappointing, compared to some of your cannons and the cost of firing one. Could you maybe add some rams to the front to try and get the nuke a bit deeper into the target before it goes off?
    Also, on the topic of potentially cheesy, but also potentially interesting, have you considered using graviton rams to launch spawned (so you have a cannon with graviton rams pointing at the back of an object you want to launch at your enemy, rather than shooting them with the cannon directly)? It could allow for some rather large and creative projectiles or even an initial launch system for ICBMs that actually go to space without wasting a bunch of fuel to get there.

    to how much it costs to fire huge missile + huge missile silo components.
    Yeah I think this is actually economically valid

    Lathrix I don't know if you know but custom jets have jet generator blocks that convert thrust into engine power. You could use that to power thruster blocks.

    • @Lathland
      @Lathland  3 года назад

      Yup, but that does also reduce how much thrust It generates - the control blocks It has now work better the faster the craft Is going and don't cost engine power so that just seems a better option for this build! I have spoke about the generator part before when they were introduced.. just not used them yet in a proper build, really should soon! :)

    My own personal take on an ICBM has a 4m loader with 4 clips and electors so when the nuke goes off it causes the ejectors to go of and spew some odd hundred 250mm shells (normally HE/Frag or HESH) into the enemy XD.

    Even if The nuke survivas the other enemy’s will still shot it and the craft it is in will target it and will drive wired and it will blow up at some point so bonus if it dose not blow up insteadly

    Nukes, with extra steps!
    I have a couple ideas for weapon/vehicle designs, feel free to skip this, It's just an idea list
    1: A submarine with harpoons on the tip of a very long corridor, rams and other items on it, with a door used as a boarding vessel by penetrating underneath.
    2: Mjolnir. It's basically a "Hammer" that starts out as a scout satellite, used for surveillance and such, but can drop out of the sky, using lots and lots of EMP and then just rams into the enemy. Much like a space battering ram.
    3: Duplication craft. Craft that duplicates itself. Nuff said. (Name idea: Clostridium. Named after the fastest growing bacteria, Clostridium perfringens)
    4: Iceberg. Ship with only small amount of it visible (I think like a submerged coffin nail, with lots of torpedos)
    5: Frill-necked lizard. Thruster craft with a collapsible shield which opens up in combat, maybe swarm missiles that open up along the frill and shoot out in every direction, one turn on them and just destroy everything. And when not in combat it collapses, creating a nice and streamline jet used to satisfy everyone's inner sonic to go fast
    6: Porpoise. A hydrofoil submarine that not only pops out of the water but immediately dives back down, and maybe flies a bit.
    7: Cloud Catcher. It swallows ships. Using multiple spin blocks combined with pistons it opens a large mouth like that of a basking shark full of drills and spikes, then just compresses. Terrifyingly cool.

    What if you put rams on the front, and still used a control block to detonate it? So it dug into the enemy before exploding? Would that be possible if you say had the laser detonator pointing out of the side of the craft?
