- We can go from split strips to beveled AND tapered strips ready for heat treating in minutes. After heat treating a Morgan Hand Mill is used to get to final tapered dimensions.
what type of router bit do you use ? was thinking of making a rod
They are 60 degree sanding wheels. 2 wood or aluminum discs with heavy grit sandpaper glued to a 30 degree bevel.
This may sound like a dumb question, but how is the tapering part accomplished?
It is on the Morgan Handmill tapered bed. The taper is set by raising the white anvil that the strip sits on every 5 inches along its length to the desired taper.
Do you have a set of plans for a person to build on at home? If not, do you make them to sell?
Not really but if you contact me offline we can probably help. Search the web for “bamboo rough planer suggestions” and you should find me.
@Kickapoo Bamboo I've tried finding you by doing the search you suggested but I wasn't successful. I would really like to know where you get the sanding wheels and is each wheel at a 30 degree angle. I think I can build one myself, just need to know about the sanding wheels. Thanks
Sorry I missed this. Try Kickapoo Bamboo at iCloud dot com (no caps no spaces). The wheels can be made of wood or aluminum. We now make them all aluminum on a lathe. They are 30 degrees each to make the 60 degree bevel. It is just a standard blank mandrel router bit.
SLICK!!!
We have a second video with a little more detail.
