Hi Cat! First time tuning in. I have to tell you - the first thing I thought when I saw you was - “Nice haircut. Maybe I should get my hair cut like that.” You look great. Now I’ll finish watching your video.
Thank you so much for sharing the real art techniques and not the short cuts. I’ve always wanted to know and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and story process.
M.C. Well thank you so much! I really appreciate your feedback. Our mission is to create inspiration through sharing art techniques and ideas none of which are copyrighted and all easily shared. Thanks so much for watching.
Hi Cat! I finally got a minute to watch this. Awesome technique - I am going to make lots of these cardboard prints!🌹I have also let my hair grow out natural. I love how yours has come in white! You look beautiful🌺
Debbie Clark Artist Hi Debbie, yes, my videos chronicle my hair as I grew it from black to white.. and thank you, I am happy with it now! Have fun with the technique.. and thank you so much! 😘♥️
Loved this segment. The print that you held up at the end looked like an old barn at the side of a road! I have been mono printing for a few years and never ever get tired of the surprises that I get on the pulls! Keep going and keep educating us! Thank you
I was moved by your thoughts of your mother. Guess we never stop missing them. Your work on that blog site is lovely and inspiring. May your stay inspired and keep posting to RUclips!
New to your channel and really like your art and your giving heart. This particular video caught my attention as it mirrors Geli printing. I’m going to try the mono printing method, but use cotton fabric and ghost prints. I’m with you on trying anything. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much Cat, I absolutely and utterly love 💕 those prints they’re so awesome and stunning and gorgeous too.... I really really love 💕 your haircut, it makes you look 👀 very much younger. Stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Mags Nash Hi Mags! LOL well that was a couple years ago..when I was growing my hair out to white.. I have auto immune issues, so using less chemicals in my body care now and... well.. I am old! 🤣 not elderly! But no spring chick 🐣😂🤣😂glad you liked the prints, I am going to revisit this one day soon! 😘💗
Aleada Siragusa Thank you! I was letting my hair grow out white and did not ask fo an asymmetrical cut.. so I was surprised! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 😘
Marcia, I would love to see your experiments with it, I failed to mention all the things you can use besides a feather, a brush a cloth, stamps... it is pretty fun... enjoy! And thanks for tuning in!!
Hi Mary, thanks so much for your inquiry, I am adding a link to my blog to view an art journal page where I used a dendritic mono print.. hope you can access it here! caterinagiglio.blogspot.com/2017/04/march-art-journal-pages.html
Hi Terry, so glad you enjoyed it, so much easier on film to explain than on my blog!! I hope you love it as I do. The second part of the video on glass the old way is not as fun as cardboard which is more versatile, I think anyway!
I never saw your hair before the cut but my first thought when vid started was that it was adorable. It frames your face in a great way. But enjoy the chocolate anyway :D
Wow! I loved this technique! Does it matter if the aluminum foil is heavy duty or is it best to use the regular kind? Also, will you show us how these are used in a finished piece of artwork?
Hi Toni! I use the heavy duty non stick, the thinfoil will not hold up to my abuse. Wink, wink! I showed how I use the prints as backgrounds in one of my art journaling videos, sorry I don't remember which one! Thanks for watching!
I just started looking at prints. This tutorial explained a very basic approach to mono printing that is inspiring. I will definitely give it a try. Will the printing work with acrylic or oil paint?
Paul Baldwin Hi Paul! I love mono printing, obviously... I have 3 videos on the subject, and glad you are willing to try it... I only use acrylic paint, because oils make me sick... Acrylics dry faster and that is a plus when you are making lots of prints that need space to dry... Most people use ink.. But I just prefer acrylics... Thanks for watching! Have fun with it!
Thank you for this tutorial, it sure simplifies the mono printing process. I am a collage artist and I believe I read in Somerset that you use the pasta maker to "smash" your collages, I'm sure it wouldn't take long, but perhaps in a future video you could show us your process of how you put your collages together and how you use the pasta maker. I have admired your work in Somerset greatly over the years and am thrilled that you have this RUclips channel. Thanks again for what you are doing! GW
Hi Gail, thanks for watching and so nice to hear that you have been reading my articles and watching my designs in Stampington zines. I will put Italian collage on the list. Thanks again for tuning in!
I have only just found you (I will now haunt you lol), I loved this it is something I feel as a beginner I can easily try with such simple products & a bit of paint to end up with an interesting background. Thank you so much:)
Hi Jan, so glad you found me, I am on social media, so you can haunt me, LOL or friend me!! So glad you enjoyed the little video, I like simplicity and think others do too. I think you will like Mono Printing part 2 as well. I am working on a new video that I hope to produce for this weekend, thanks so much for watching!
Hello Cat, I am your new subbie.... You are absolutely amazing...I love love love your tutorials!! Have a beautiful day .... Xoxo Heike from The Netherlands..
Abstract Painting Techniques with Andy Morris Glad you enjoyed the video.. And are you referring to using a canvas to pull prints and leave the canvas as your painting?
@@CaterinaGiglio well yes. to incorporate the printing into my work. On smaller pieces I might stick with papers, but I'd like to try printing on large unstretched canvas.
Abstract Painting Techniques with Andy Morris Hi Andy! What a great idea.. My head is spinning with possibilities! If you don' t mind, I would like to try that myself. So fun to share ideas and information! Thanks for watching we so appreciate it!
Sharon Eley Hi Sharon! I am so glad you liked the technique, thanks for watching...and I am working on a new monoprinting video with some fun new ideas!
@@CaterinaGiglio The white is lovely. I understand hastening the process. I loved your long curly hair too. My hair is long now as our area was a Covid hub and I stayed out of my hairdresser's chair. I am enjoying pulling it up into messy buns and ponytails. Thank you for sharing your talent and teaching us. I completed two small slow stitch projects the other day.
Oh gosh, I suppose if I wanted it cut asymmetrically then it might have been ok, but one side was way too short and there were gaps in the back as well.. LOL, but thank you so much for being so kind!!!
Have you ever tryed using a Gelli plate to mono print? Its much better than cardboard and foil. Here is one of my favorite artists using the Gelli plate to make distressed papers for her collages. Robyn likes to talk a lot so start at 31: 00 to see her actually print. ruclips.net/video/eEK4qtAdbrA/видео.html
Laurie, yes, I have used a Gelli plate and have several gelli prints, but I like using the cardboard and foil much better. I love the deep impressions that can be made with cardboard and I can just throw them into the recycle bin when they wear out. Some of the artists that follow me work on a limited budget and look forward to creative ideas with recycled and ordinary products. Thanks for your link and your thoughtful and informative comment!!
Not sure what you mean by deep impressions-but it sounds interesting. Anything that makes texture is good for me!! Thats why I like Robyn McClendon's type of mono printing. She does sgraffito on the gelli plate too and this technique of yours reminded me of Robyns. I think part of the problem with watching on a computer is you can not see all those little details like "deep impressions" as you would if a person was watching the artist do it in person. I appreciate you and all the others who teach on U-tube. I have learned so much. Thank you for sharing your talent!!
Laurie, the cardboard I use is corrugated and so when I use a pencil or quill to subtract the paint , it makes and impression in the cardboard and it will show up continuously in future prints.. it creates what I think of as a history to use in future prints.. :)
Andrew farrington LOL! I never saw that person again! And believe me she knew I was not a happy girl! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! 😉
Fantastic idea Caterina, I will definitely be giving this a try. I'm just loving your videos, thank you so much. Love Lita xx
