I grew up in Roslyn. Went to school with the Craven family. Some older, some younger. Amazing history in our little town!! Mr. Will Craven is loved by all!!

Mr. Craven's daughter is a good friend of mine . I am so happy Washington State recognized his place in history.

Did you know Roslyn has an annual public Black Pioneers Picnic? I think it's in August sometime.

Yes it’s put on by the families and descendants of the original Black residents. One of the relatives of the family who contributed to this episode told us about it. He attends every year. We hope to go one year ourselves.

I’m surprised that you haven’t travelled to Anacortes, WA or any of the San Juan Islands - I would recommend!

Next time talk to a black personality who is part of the history and still remains there actively

      That wouldn’t fit the narrative.

Unfortunately there aren’t any Black residents living in the town today. But for this episode we consulted with one of the relatives of the original Black miners who moved there, and who is VERY active in restoring the history within the town. The descendants and relatives of the original Black families return every year in August. We filmed this in the Winter. But we plan on going back for the annual picnic and will be doing an episode on it.

I should make a channel called traveling while white since everything’s racist now 😅
