Great video! (Also never been this early before? Lol) A documentary I watched recently is True Cost. It really impacted me a lot and made me question a lot about the fashion industry. One thing that's kind of a tradition (I guess?) is me and my one friend go sea glass hunting at least once a summer. It's something we both enjoy and look forward to while we're stuck in the cold winter months 😊
muchelleb yeah! It's such a relaxing thing to do, sorting through millions of rocks on a beach haha. Then I end up with pretty stones and glass to craft with until the next time we go 😁 I figured that you'd probably watched that one already. Not that long after watching it, I ended up in a really big shopping mall, and it was such a surreal experience.....kind of uncomfortable which I guess is a good thing cause it means it worked!
I really love how you try and stay original. Like instead of just listing things like 'drinking more water' 'cleaning your room' things that we've all seen and heard a billion times, you genuinely use new and fresh ideas. Like don't get me wrong, drinking water and cleaning your room is great! But it gets old hahhaja xx
I love your videos. I’m a mom of four and I’m 38 and you motivate me in so many ways. Even though our seasons of life are very different. I love having one day where I really focus in on self care. For me, this is “self care Sunday’s” where I save and treat myself to much needed rest or care. It’s the one day a week where my children are occupied and I have a five hour break. Even sitting at Starbucks with a latte planning out my week feels like self care. Thank you so much for your beautiful page and content.
Me and my boyfriend meet every sunday to go outside for a couple hours and just talk about our week & life, whatever comes to our mind, it's so good :)
Our tradition, whenever we go camping (which is a lot), when we are about to leave we do a comb of the area and pick up any trash to take with us, even when it’s not our own doing. It’s a great moment to spend with the earth, and thanking it for letting us stay by removing objects that don’t belong there.
My daughter and I (she is now 6 almost 7) have a tradition where we catch the train into city together and go into galleries, we live about an hour and a half away in a smaller town. We pack a lunch, have ice cream and try visit 2 or more galleries (depending how tired she is) It's one tradition we try do on the school holidays. We have such a lovely time connecting and have fabulous chats. I have many more traditions and love traditions. They add a little more positivity into the year and it is such a fabulous way to connect to loved ones.
Me and my bf have a tradition to go to a Turkish hammam once a month. We spend 2-3 hours in the sauna and steam rooms, enjoying the jacuzzi and pool then have a couples hammam scrub down. Spending that time together with no interruptions is great for our relationship. It’s undivided attention and there really isn’t any escape! 😊
I created the tradition which I called 'spanish sunday' where I watch spanish series and telenovelas etc. to keep up with the little bit of Spanish I learned in school :)
A tradition my husband and I are trying to start is a nightly read together. Usually I read out loud to him since I prefer visual learning and he prefers auditory. It’s super relaxing before bed and we usually fall asleep book in hand haha
Everytime I watch one of you videos I get so inspired to get my shit together and get out of my own way and be who I always wanted to be and I haven't felt that way in like 18 months so thanks girl! You are now my official big sister. Welcome to the family.
my friends and i have a tradition of DebateTuesdays (they started on tuesdays but we've definitely done them other days or whenever the situation felt right) in which we will debate about controversial issues like religion, abortion, education, etc. It's really fun, it makes you actually question what your values/beliefs are and it helps you find a way to make reasonable arguments that are not hurtful bc you'd never want to get into a fight with a friend :)
A family tradition we started a little while ago is having Christmas in July! My family is from all over North America and it's hard to get everyone together during the actual holiday season in December, so we decided to move it to the summer. We swim, drink tropical drinks, give gifts and listen to remixed Christmas carols. It's a ton of fun 😊
We have a tradition with a few friends to meet every Wednesday to hang out and watch a movie. It's a great way to find time for each other when we're all so busy with our own lives.
I love that you're so natural in this video, it's just relaxing and inspiring to listen to you! You don't need crazy edits to create excellent content, this is admirable
I feel like these decisions are more relatable than you expect.. Switched to decaf myself and stopped drinking as much coffee. Feel much better. Got drunk once and decided never to do it again. No regrets. Doesn't stop me from having a celebratory drink or enjoying a craft beer. Decided to make a 'bucket list' savings account similar to your experiences savings you were talking about, which I'm proud to say is gonna allow me to go to an event announced today that was legit on my bucket list, and as for rituals and I'm trying to implement a weekly artists' date and trip to the library :3
I don't know if this qualifies as a tradition but we'll just go with it! Me and my partner made a decision earlier this year to eat dinner at the dining table together (shock horror right, who knew that's what dining tables are for!!) with no distractions. No phones or TV going, just some background music and catching up with each other each night. It has transformed dinner time and how much quality time we get to spend together (when we are both very busy people).Another tradition my mum does is mid-winter christmas!! And also at actual christmas time, decorating our house on the 1st of December and driving around and looking at all the christmas lights
Me and my family always eat breakfast together at the weekend and also dinner with everyone who is at home at this moment, so we really cherrish our quality time!
I haven't cut out coffee completely, but I did recently decide to cut my coffee intake in half and I've noticed a positive difference! Also, can we talk about how cute your hair is!? LOVE this length on you!
I have cut back....it used to be like 4/5 cups a day...im down to 2. And NONE after 4pm, or i won't get a wink of sleep, haha Maybe i'll try DeCaf and use it as a Placebo for the real McCoy....
Love your channel SOOO much! 🤗 A tradition I started this year is dressing extra flashy on New Year's Day (festival-inspired)..it reminds me to stay open to all the amazing times in the year ahead and keeps me from taking myself too seriously. Xx
This is really random and I know this video isn't recent, but my husband and I love to cook and we somehow started this weird tradition that revolves around the like "one essential" meal per season. So for example before Fourth of July in America we have "Peach Day" the day before, where we literally come up with ways to incorporate peaches into every meal, and always end with homemade peach cobbler (peaches are seasonally available en mass around July-September). In the fall right before Halloween we do a Squash soup day where we make my husbands favorite squash soup recipe that takes several hours (again great seasonal choice with lots of local produce available). Then in the winter we do a huge chili day and make 2 or 3 kinds of chili, or even just make up our own recipe (bc cold = make a really hearty/hot soup, also I eat vegan about 90% of the time so it's really fun to make different vegan chili recipes!). Its random but really fun, kind of like creating our own holiday! We still haven't figured out a "food holiday" for Spring though. Love this video!
Ah Michelle your videos are always on point and your timing perfect. I went alcohol free on the 1st of April and I'm loving it! I used to feel sad just thinking about restricting my consumption, and when you talked a while ago about not drinking for a year, ah, I thought I'd never be able to. But here I am, happier than ever to have left behind all the managing and negotiating (I'm from Italy and here you could really drink half a glass of wine every day with your lunch and dinner without so much as raising an eyebrow). So you planted a seed in my mind, back then, which now has bloomed. Will coffee be next? I hope to find your strength and courage and ditch it too one day. Thank you for all the inspiration and positivity!❤️😊
Amazing video! Your warmth and sincerity really come across when you speak about how far you've come and what else you'd like to do. I'm so with you on the binge drinking and I too have decided to cut down on this severely. The idea of philosophical Sundays is completely genius and I definitely want to incorporate that into my life. For me the History Channel is completely addictive but I also love watched TED Talks because they're always so fascinating and I learn so much. Anyway, thanks again for an awesome video!
One tradition my immediate family has with my aunt's family (who live 5 hours away) is whenever we meet we play "city, land, river" (I believe it's more of a german game, you get a letter and have to fill categories with words starting with that letter, when one person is done the other's have to stop), play card games and drink "Sambuka" or Baileys. My immediate family also has the tradition af waking people on their birthday with sparklers and annoyingly singing all the birthday songs we know. Great video, keep it up! :)
Giving up coffee is something I'm incapable of despite having extreme coffe anxiety from time to time. You're so inspiring, I do need to try one more time.
This year I properly moved out of my parents house but remained living locally and we started a tradition of Sunday brunch together. It's a great tradition as we always had eggs together on a Sunday before and now even if we're busy we still try to catch up on a Sunday.
I do a weekly mental exercise where zI explore a single question. It has helped with creativity, Living deliberately, and has quickened you ability to solve complex problems. One drawback is that some people feel intimidated during conversations because I am confident about how I feel about many subjects. I just have to stay present with their reactions.
I loved and relate to everything about this video. I have such a hard time giving credit to any creeping thoughts I may have, like giving up drinking (and coffee) and seeing you've successfully done both AND they've improved your life really motivates me to do the same. Cheers!
1. i never started coffee and im glad i didnt now 2. the adventure list sounds super cool! im gonna attempt it 3. not old enough to drink lol... might start when im 21 but only on special occasions or not at all? (im 17) 4. lol my friends wouldnt do this with me 5. traditions? we always eat dinner as a family every single night; i hug my mom every night before going to bed; we go to church on christmas; we go to costco every sunday
This is so weird, reading through a few comments and what you said about doing stuff on Sundays. A few years ago me and my boyfriend decided to choose Sundays as being "our" day. Over the years what we have done has changed currently its been going on walks at new parks around us where we just moved. But it has been going on a McDonald's date, watching movies or TV shows for about 4+ hours. It's been nice to help us stay grounded in what is happening in our lives.
I’m a mum and during daylight saving hours when our local park stays open later and most people have left and I can get a car space my son and I go for a big hour walk every Sunday. There is also a huge dog park and we like to watch the dogs playing as dogs are just so happy and good to watch. We need to come up with a Winter habit though because daylight saving is almost over.
My “tradition” with my boyfriend is - no presents. We don’t spend our money on physical material gifts for birthdays, Xmas, anniversary etc. Instead we do something together, create a memory and spend quality time together. I guess you could say we give each other the gift of time 🧀 🧀😂. It’s so much more enjoyable and neither of us spend time leading up to those celebrations worrying about what to get the other person or if the other person will like the gift etc. ♥️
Wow I’ve never been able to relate so much to what you said about binge drinking and anxiety, thank you for talking about that and making me less feel alone and weird for being young and wanting to no longer drink excessively xx
Totally get horrible coffee anxiety & recently quit coffee & coke/pepsi/fizzy drinks etc & feeling loads better for it. Didn't realise how much caffeine is in fizzy drinks! Also get monstrous hanxiety but quitting alcohol is hard :( but I will keep trying. I think the only tradition I have is Christmas Eve Curry; I always get an Indian take out on the night before Christmas. Love you. You're awesome. xxx
It's been about 4 years since I last had my last sip of alcohol and I can't imagine having a hangover again. Doesn't mean I've stopped going out, I've learnt to enjoy the company of friends in different environments. However I do need to cut down on my tea/caffeine intake as I've realised I cam get withdrawal headaches by dinner time when I wake in the morning 🙈 loved this video 💗
I have a traditon with celebrating my birthday with whoever of my friends have time to come, at my favourite cafe in the city where I met all of them. I also like to meet up with my male friend at a coffee shop, sitting by the windows and drawing, while looking out on all the people passing by ;) I've never actually tried drinking alcohol (I'm 25 now), because I just never felt like starting, so that's not a problem in my life. I'll have to admit that I really like hearing about people who quit drinking, or develop a healthy relationship with alcohol :P I love coffee, but I'm not addicted, so I usually just drink it when I'm out with friends and wanna have a good time. One thing I HAVE cut down on though, is soda. Used to drink it a lot more when I was younger, but when I moved out to live by myself, it just wasn't something I felt like spending money on. And when I did drink it, at home or at parties, I started to realise how sweet it tasted, and that I wasn't really a fan. So now I rarely drink it.
I made a new tradition with my boyfriend where we run or walk in nature every sunday morning before 11 and when we get back have a nice big sunday breakfest together. Its so nice and really nice for slowing down and having nice chats
My husband gave up drinking after my husband had to due to heath reasons. I never thought I could give up drinking. But I haven't had any alcohol for over a year, and I'm loving this new change.
Our tradition is “$20 date night”. Every Friday we take turns planning a “$20 date night”; the $20 includes everything...transportation, food, activity. Everything. We started this when we were broke and had huge student loans but have kept with it for years. We love that is forces us to find fun unique activities...picnics on the beach, a free event in our community, a fun free sporting events, seeing a writer talk about their work, having an amazing bottle of wine and enjoying time together... we have done so many fun things - I hope we do “$20 date nights” forever!
I just want to say, I discovered your channel today and I think I love you lol... you are so inspiring and your videos have so much value! You're like the big sister I wish I had growing up, thank you so much for all your videos, I will be binging your content all weekend and then take actual action steps for my life (: !!!!!
I'm a recent uni grad coming up on one year in a new city and I'm really feeling the lack of traditions. My family was very consistent about going up to my dad's parents' house for every major holiday when I was a kid and I grew up feeling really rooted to that routine and tradition. I've been lucky enough to be home for Christmas all through uni and this year, but losing the other holidays and the lack of routine in my busy, erratically scheduled friend group is pretty hard. I really like the dinner & discussion idea, but it feels hard to start "traditions" when my & my friends lives are in such a period of flux.
Since this vid is 2 years old, you may not be into your viewers answering, however, my bffs and I used to do game night every Thursday at this pub called Social. It was actually at Hollywood Athletic Club and it was eons ago now, but I still miss it. Then, I brought the tradition to my ex and our good friends and as their kids got older, we all would play board games on a Saturday or Sunday evening. It’s a great way to spend time together with no phones and just get to know your friends and family better.
I just find your channel and I'm currently binge watching your videos!!! subscribed!!!! Also traditions: my grandma (Spaniard/Colombian/Irish) used to say "if you can't drink coffee without milk (any kind) then you don't really like coffee" meaning your body doesn't like coffee so you shouldn't drink it. Also beware that most 'tea's" have caffeine too even if they're smaller levels. For me coffee doesn't energises me but makes me sleepy; my doctor says I'm a weird case so i know everyone is not like that. It's funny how many things I was taught of when i was little that everyone else made fun of me now are a "trend" like eating organic and using recyclable bags and you know being ecofriendly. My grandma from my dad's side is Native (south) American and they taught us how to be kind with earth and all animals it's nice to see people finally realising this is our home and we should take care of it.
I love documentaries! Here are some I’ve really enjoyed: The Human Experience (seriously life changing!!!) Before The Flood Avicii - True Stories November 13 - Attack on Paris Diana In Her Own Words The Defiant Ones
For tradition, I meet up with my best friend every Saturday afternoon and talk about one topic, one question. We talk like for 4 hours non-stop. I love that a lot.
Yes! I totally relate to coffee anxiety. I have it like once every two months now and I feel so shaky and heart racing. Not sure what to do because I’m tired a lot but I prefer it than the shakes. Thanks for sharing. Loved the other 3 too thanks! Gonna work on adventure list!!
So glad you mentioned coffee anxiety ! It took me a while to realise my anxiety was caused by coffee. I would wonder why I felt anxious when I'd just had a lovely chat with a friend
I love this kind of a video, with a bit of a personal story :) I also switched to tea this year, I feel so much better. Love the idea of the adventure list :D
two of my friends and i have a tradition that we go to this amusement park every year (with whoever wants to be our fourth) and spend the entire day there and at the end of the day we ride one particular ride until the park closes. it's good fun!
This is totally random, but you look like a cross between Vivian Leigh and Cameron Diaz. ...On a more related note, I absolutely love your videos--you are so intelligent and introspective, and hearing how you think is an absolute joy.
1. Giving up coffee 2. Creating an adventures list (mini, accessible adventures) 3. No binge drinking (know and understand your body) 4. Create a new tradition
Great video. Several of these I implemented last year and have seen a big improvement. I do drink decaf coffee for the flavor and to avoid caffeine, which not everyone likes (or even understands). Keep up the great work.
A few days ago I was on a study binge and wasn't sleeping well cause I was just stressed. One night I slept so badly and had finished all my work but could not sleep, no matter how hard I tried. So when I got up, I had a coffee and progressly drank another four cups through out the day (which is alot for me). They were stronger than usual because I was so tired, I didn't eat well at all that day and by the night came, I was wired. Mentally I was so tired, but my body would not shut down. I slept shit that night. Next day, I was wired asf, on edge, sweating, tired, fast heart fate, sickened stomach, I was death warmed up. Finally I've only just come right today (it's been three days) I haven't had a cup of coffee since and I'm totally put off anything with caffeine. No coffee, no tea, no energy drinks. Waters fine thanks lol
Classic movies to watch (they are fantasttttttic): All about Eve, On the Waterfront, Rear Window, Madame X, Giant, High Society, Dial M for Murder... i could go on for days! Ps- great video! Loved it.
Philosophical sunday sounds like such a good idea!! Also i get hangover anxiety SO bad ! Never heard anyone talk about it but i have it so bad and the blues x
The first tradition that popped in my head is this: every time someone in my family has a birthday, we compete to say "happy birthday" to the birthday person first, preferably after they've woken up on their own. This worked better when we all lived together, but it's still fun to try.
I made a decision to watch a documentary every night. I used to only watch ones on topics that interested me like Animals or space. But I decided I wasn't really learning anything new. So now I watch SBS at 7.30. Regardless of the topic. That has been extremely interesting and I'm learning things that would never have been on my radar before.
Great video Michelle! You should be really proud of your achievements and for giving up drinking too much alcohol and coffee. It means that you know yourself well and know what would be the best for you. Keep up the good work xoxo
As far as traditions go, my friend group and I set aside some time each night which we call Honesty Hour. We propose a question or bring up an experience and talk it through as a friend group. It goes anywhere from more intimate experiences to opinions on controversial topics. For us, it is a judgement free zone and we are all respectful of each others opinions. It allows us time to learn more about each other, but also help each other if we are discussing something like a past relationship and how to deal with it.
A tradition my mother and I did one summer, and one I did with my son for a summer, was to research area restaurants and go out to lunch at a new and different place every Wednesday.
Great video! (Also never been this early before? Lol)
A documentary I watched recently is True Cost. It really impacted me a lot and made me question a lot about the fashion industry.

Drink more water is the lamest advice! 😂

Abby Gilligan I did that this past Tuesday! My husband and I believe It is our duty to leave a place in better shape than when we first got there.

Cheers!
1. i never started coffee and im glad i didnt now
2. the adventure list sounds super cool! im gonna attempt it
3. not old enough to drink lol... might start when im 21 but only on special occasions or not at all? (im 17)
4. lol my friends wouldnt do this with me
5. traditions? we always eat dinner as a family every single night; i hug my mom every night before going to bed; we go to church on christmas; we go to costco every sunday
I get so excited when you have a new video! You are so great at what you do.
coffee makes me feel so great and calm, i could never give up on it 💕
This is so weird, reading through a few comments and what you said about doing stuff on Sundays.
I also like to meet up with my male friend at a coffee shop, sitting by the windows and drawing, while looking out on all the people passing by ;)
I've never actually tried drinking alcohol (I'm 25 now), because I just never felt like starting, so that's not a problem in my life.
Could you do another vid on start heathly eating again, comfort eating, cravings, depression? It would mean the world to me.
The movie/documentory Schindler's list makes you really reflect about your life.
I get coffee anxiety but then someone introduced me to matcha latte 😖😖😖
Danniessa oh man I was like giving up coffee is giving up matcha
JustTrina // ugh! I know, just the thought of it even 🤣
Since this vid is 2 years old, you may not be into your viewers answering, however, my bffs and I used to do game night every Thursday at this pub called Social.
U R THE BEST!❤️
KEEP IT UP!❤️
for sure no one can have the best life ever, but you have made mine better, god bless u❤️
I love documentaries! Here are some I’ve really enjoyed:
The Human Experience (seriously life changing!!!)
Before The Flood
Avicii - True Stories
November 13 - Attack on Paris
Diana In Her Own Words
The Defiant Ones
For tradition, I meet up with my best friend every Saturday afternoon and talk about one topic, one question. We talk like for 4 hours non-stop. I love that a lot.
Yes! I totally relate to coffee anxiety. I have it like once every two months now and I feel so shaky and heart racing. Not sure what to do because I’m tired a lot but I prefer it than the shakes. Thanks for sharing. Loved the other 3 too thanks! Gonna work on adventure list!!
thank you muchelle for another amazing video we love you xx
"My recommendation is have as many cups as makes you feel happy." GIRL YAASSSSS!!!
Gorgeous hair
Omg the list would be so long!! Definitely a good one xoxo
I absolutely love your videos 💖 they’re so motivating. Also may I say you’re absolutely beautiful inside and out
So glad you mentioned coffee anxiety ! It took me a while to realise my anxiety was caused by coffee. I would wonder why I felt anxious when I'd just had a lovely chat with a friend
my family watches "it's a wonderful life" every christmas eve. Amazing movie
I just love you and your videos! Your content always seems to speak to me in some way.
I love this kind of a video, with a bit of a personal story :) I also switched to tea this year, I feel so much better. Love the idea of the adventure list :D
Your hair, the lighting, everything about you is perfect in this video 😍💛
Love the new cut! So pretty! Love your vids, missed them so much😍
Loving the life improvement videos!!!!!
two of my friends and i have a tradition that we go to this amusement park every year (with whoever wants to be our fourth) and spend the entire day there and at the end of the day we ride one particular ride until the park closes. it's good fun!
Love the adventures list idea! I've always believed it's important to fit mini adventures into daily life but I've never made a list :).
You're incredible Muchelle! Love the new hair
This is totally random, but you look like a cross between Vivian Leigh and Cameron Diaz. ...On a more related note, I absolutely love your videos--you are so intelligent and introspective, and hearing how you think is an absolute joy.
1. Giving up coffee
2. Creating an adventures list (mini, accessible adventures)
3. No binge drinking (know and understand your body)
I love your energy in this video. You seem to be in an even better frame of mind
Agreed!! Love coffee and alcohol sometimes, but my sweet system can’t handle it! Thank you for sharing ❤️❤️
Your videos had randomly popped up but now I'm here as a supper fan love the content. Bless
That has been extremely interesting and I'm learning things that would never have been on my radar before.
documentary recommendation: Let The Fire Burn! It's really heavy but amazingly well edited and an important part of modern US history
ps: love your videos so much, I feel like I'm becoming more wise and conscious on every video. thank you thank you
your videos made me so motivated for my gcses this year love ya xx
Yesss, much love xoxo
so good, definitely have made some amazing life changing decisions in my life and I feel like im finally able to say I love my life ❤️
Great video Michelle! You should be really proud of your achievements and for giving up drinking too much alcohol and coffee. It means that you know yourself well and know what would be the best for you. Keep up the good work xoxo
I feel like no amount of chamomille tea in the world would stop me from having anxiety at a concentration camp. How did you feel afterwards?
yes I was thinking about that too
@@auroraborealis6398 Yes it was probably the location rather than the coffee. I have been to Auschwitz....
I love your videos, never stop please!
Hi Muchelle...great simple tips 👌🏼👌🏼 . The documentary that I watched on Netflix: True Cost, Minimalism, Take Your Pills...
My husband and i go to the GC arts cntr farmers markets every sunday and make a point of chilling out together. Love the adventures list idea!!
I didn’t even know they held farmers markets!!! I might have to hit them up. Love that tradition.
Heyyyy....Miss seening you. LOVE how your room is SO frickn Clean and Tidy in the background : )
I juuust did a big clean out so its looking so fresh ! Xooxox
A tradition my mother and I did one summer, and one I did with my son for a summer, was to research area restaurants and go out to lunch at a new and different place every Wednesday.
The drink part is sending me 😩😭 but ima stop binge drinking. I got this ❤️
your hair looks amazing!!
I love the local adventure list idea!
