I love you videos!! I def would stay away from saying “I’m broke” instead saying “hey I would love to go out with you but right now I have some priorities I need to take care of and save for” Don’t want that negative vibe around money girl
Honestly, some of this is just frustrating to me. Especially the past 1 or 2 years there has been SO MUCH content - on RUclips and all social media - in regards to "being your own boss" and "being entrepreneurial" and "starting up your dream" and all it's really done is made me feel like I'm faulty. Yes, I like the idea of being the boss and running my own business... except I have no specific dreams in that direction... am I supposed to? Is there something wrong with me for not wanting to start a RUclips channel, or not having any idea for a brand I'm passionate about, or not having this grand vision? My passion is archaeology... yeah, try making that marketable! Like am I boring or faulty or lazy or what?! All this "work for yourself" and "start up your own dream" stuff... what if I don't have dreams that work like that? We can't _all_ be entrepreneurs...
Same here... If every one is an entrepreneur then who is going to work for that entrepreneur or who is gonna fill the normal jobs that aren't for entrepreneurs.. That doesn't make sense to me at all, the most important thing is to do what you actually love and it doesn't need to create so much money, it doesn't matter as long as you're satisfied
heyyyy... no worries, you do you :) I also don't want that. I see how many hours my mum is working and that she is thinking about work stuff 24/7. It limits a lot of other parts of your life. I don't want that for myself.
I totally agree with you. I don´t want to be an enterpreneut at all, because once you´re your own boss, you are constantly working. I like work where you can like go to work at 8 and come home at 17 and do whatever you want afterwards and have free weekends. BUT there is this idea in western society which is like Marie Antoinette - pretty, but sad - that your job should fulfil you, otherwise you will be unhappy your whole life. Which for majority of people that ever lived and live on this Earth is not the case. Work can either fulfil you, or it can "only" feed you and make your life possible. You´re happy if it´s the first case, but there is nothing wrong with the second one too - in my opinion. You can still live a wonderfully happy and content life even when you haven´t found your "true calling" and go to work "only" to earn some money. It´s all about the Maslow´s pyramid, of course, but let´s not push it to the extent where we make normal people unhappy because of disproportional standards.
I too do not feel the desire to be an entrepreneur or make money through RUclips or selling things. My dream job is to be a librarian, and I’m getting there! As others have said, what’s important is that you’re doing what you love and being responsible about money and spending it in accordance to your values 😊👍🏼
I really would like to see a video on how do u manage to have a 9 to 5 job, a really time consuming side hustle and still being so in point in life (like eating healthy, waking up at 5 and I dunno know, general hygiene?!) I started a apprenticeship a month ago and Im soooo dead, I never get anything done its so frustrating :c
I work 9-5 and am late sometimes if we have important deadlines to meet. I was tired all the time and barely had any energy for basic chores (don’t even get me started on the dishes that were piling up). Then I started taking vitamin c supplements noticed an extreme increase in energy also with ginger water in the morning. I started waking up at 5 am going to yoga class going to work and also going to the gym in the afternoon. if you’re really tired draw up a blood work and see if you have any deficiencies. I think this could really make a change.
She went on a trip that costed 12000$. A lot of people make that in a year. I'm not critizing her, but people need to be mindful of other people's situations.
“If you’re not spending most of your money on clothes, you’re spending most of your money on food” Damn that’s a hard truth haha, I’m so glad I watched this video, so truthful and inspiring 💖🙏🏼
Finally!! Somebody of substance for young women/people, what a breath of fresh air. Theses are the kind of videos we need to counteract the world of consumerism and thinking lives and looks on insta are real. Time to focus on what really matters, being financially stable, getting minds right, relationships with family and friends, goals and most of all stopping worrying what everybody else is doing....you do you boo boo!!
I have helped to curb my clothing shopping addiction with Pinterest. I just pin the items I want to buy, and the act of storing them online gives me a similar rush to owning them since I was probably going to never wear them after I bought them anyway.
Yeah I do something similar. I go to a store online and put everything I would want to buy in the 'Shopping Cart' then when I'm done looking through just close the browser 😂
I loved this video even though I don't have problem saving money - I rather have a problem spending it because I restrict myself too much. I took after my grandma who is now 80 years old and a master of saving! She was born in a farm in a family of 5 (later 8) and they were self-sufficient. She knows the ins and outs of how to preserve food and spend as little on food as possible yet have a healthy diet. She knows how to take care of your clothes and belongings so they last for 40+ years. And she has never ever wasted any money in her life, yet she is always very generous with her gifts to her loved ones. She is my role model when it comes to conscious living.
Many, but for her these things come naturally. She kept the routines and rituals from her youth. For us, with our society and lifestyles many of these things would require a lot of effort. She buys the same food and ingredients that were available already 50-60 years ago. She wouldn't buy anything that can't be locally produced. She preserves fruit and vegetables for the winter. Again, everything locally sourced, mostly bought at the local market from local producers. She carefully plans and portions her meals - she lives alone and usually eats the same main meals for 2-3 days. She freezes the leftovers sometimes and eats it another time so she has more variety. Never wastes any food. She naturally knows and follows all the grocery saving tricks that there are. She looks for discounts, buys seasonal things in the season, freezes things that she can, shops food in bigger batches etc. She hand-washed her clothes in her whole life. Only at the age of 79, when she moved to a new place, got she a washing machine because it was already installed in her flat. If any of her clothes get a hole or some other problems that can be fixed, she fixes them herself. When she was younger she knitted sweaters and other pieces of clothing for the family. She doesn't have fancy kitchen or other equipment. Not even a microwave. She heats food on the stove. Simple. Her and my granddad never owned a car. She walks everywhere or takes public transport. She is very careful with electricity, heating and water. She never wastes anything. She lives in a two-bedroom-apartment but in the winter she usually closes the door of the big room and doesn't heat it up, unless she has guests. She doesn't waste water. No light is on unless she really needs it. When she was younger she used to go on holidays but not anymore at the age of 80. She doesn't spend on luxuries. She doesn't justify buying expensive products just to treat herself. She treats herself in other ways, through relationships or her hobbies, not consumerism. I know that some of the things she does would be difficult for us to follow but in general she is a good role model for me and I agree with the principles she has and try to adopt them on my own way. She was a minimalist before it was a thing :)
I already have an automatic deposit for my uni payments and a dental insurance to my savings account, but now I added my monthly saving goal! In a case of "I would really like to buy something, but I have no more money" I can still get a little bit from my savings, but I'll be harder to do instead of just throwing out the money and seeing what is left at the end of a month. Thanks for the inspiration! :)
As she said, it’s her parents flat, so that’s mates rates. I live in Sydney and the cheapest one bedroom apartment around the city suburbs are min $500/week (or min $2000 a month) AUS$
Just here to say I appreciate you and your channel so much! Your videos are so thorough, well made, absolute gems of information and wisdom, and I love your down to earth, positive attitude. You deserve way more subs but I'm sure that'll come with time. I'm 21 and it feels like you're that wise slightly older gal pal that everyone needs in their life. Thank you!! ☀️
The morning affirmations i listen to every morning says stop speaking negativity over your life, life and death is in the tongue! Instead of saying “I’m broke say I’m overcoming a cash flow of money problem “
I agree with most of your points. I just dont like the "be your own boss" point. Actually i dont find it scary to only work for one company. There are work contracts that make it hard to fire people (at least in my country). Also if you're ur own boss you're having more responsibility and working time in general. How should i work my 43 hours a week + having time for family + making time for my sidehustle? Also not everyone has the passion for socialmedia work or even the luck to make a living with it. I often see people saying its easyy? There are many people on instagram and youtube, creating weekly videos and still not making any money with it. I get ur point, instead of just relying on one income, make more money and safe more! I just hate "be a blogger" solution:P
I completely agree, I am not a very entrepreneurial person myself, but I think the principle of diversifying your income still stands: it can be selling your old clothes and books to pay for little things, or an investment portfolio, or something that is not you having your own business.
Have just come across your videos, and boy are you the exact type of person who I have miss in subscriptions. Thank you for your content and being so honest, it’s really inspiring (even if I don’t quite make $30,000 a year, damn uni life )
My partner and I read The Barefoot Investor and it changed everything for us money wise. We got engaged only 3 months ago and we have saved 80% of what we want to spend on the wedding already, all while paying for our (small) bills, giving ourself spending money and date money. My partner also got a car in this time (he had half saved prior to our money shift). Totally recommend Barefoot!
I love these type of videos from you! I'm currently saving for a trip to Europe at 16 and I'm so excited that it's easy to save. Thanks for the great tips!! (:
You must seriously be a mind reader! I’m always in need of a certain type of video and BAM magically you post the perfect video that helps my situation!
ugh yes I love the barefoot investor. I was reading it at the same time as I first discovered the minimalists and the two combined have honestly been life changing
23?!!!!!! I absolutely love her channel and only just found it and have been binge watching but I honestly thought she is wayyyy older than 23 in both mind and looks. Wtfffff
omg you are such an inspiration for me, you are so smart and wise! when i watch your videos, i’m dreaming that you are my older sister who shares her knowledge with me :) thank you very much for your work. i feel really calm and peaceful after i watch your videos, and it seems that i tend to understand better what i want in life. i always thank the moment when i found your channel :)
Eventhough i dont make 30,00 a year and this is not a realistic goal for me, the things you say are true. It is helpfull to me! Saving as much money as I can is definitely my goal for this year, because I want to buy a house. I can do this!! And so can everyone who's reading this! Try your best and your half way there. Keep in your mind what you want to do with the money saved. Make your dreams reality.
For me personally, I love going shopping on the weekend for fun, but surprisingly I buy things very rarely. That is because I pretty much never buy things on first sight, no matter if online or in a store. If I like something online I save it with karma for "later" and if I like something in a store, I keep it in mind. Majority of the time, something I could've bought on a whim turns out to be something I don't even want anymore a week later.
I used to spend my money on everything and anything. I love how you're not negative about money. I think the money saving tips in this vedeo are super helpful! 😁
A lot of these videos are done by people that already have an advantage: thousands of dollars in savings, an inheritance, a family house where they can live, etc. They also come from privilege so they do not need to help family members. Meh...
I didn’t grow up in privilege, no money savings house or inheritance, got there on my own . It’s possible once you set your mind right and stop thinking how everyone else has it better
Hi Muchelle, I came across you channel a couple of months ago. I have been following along with the simplify your life challenge, and it has truly been life changing for me. I can so relate with just having lot of crap. Haha, just wanna say thanks for your videos, you are very insightful beyond your years.
I hate when you tubers say “I have a job where I earn decent money from” if you’re not going to be specific or give an estimate then this doesn’t help...
I love your videos! You have an amazing vibe and are so wise beyond your years. I’m currently doing the 30 day declutter challenge as I needed a reset in my life after losing my mom. I needed to find a way back to my life and your videos have really been helpful. Thank you!
Just discovered your RUclips channel and this Video is so great! I have seen many Videos like this but nobody is actually going into detail except "the financial diet" really recommend that channel! But as I can See your channel is Not just about money and its Real! You have a Real job, you dont have some one who cooks for you. I am a bit fed up with All those RUclips (mummies) who have a cleaner and you never See them Shopping grocieries because somebody does it for them.. So youre doing great, dont Lose your realness and I am looking forward to your othe videos! :)
I'm sooooo glad I came across this video. Lately I've been thinking about saving money for my future cause I tend to be an impulsive shopper (I'm a sucker for cute thrift clothing pieces and altho I do thrift shop, I tend to spend a loooot and ended up regretting later) so I really want to discipline myself and start saving. Currently I made a mental note to myself that I'll just shop every 6 months lol and it's harder than what others think especially for an impulsive shopper like me
FIRST video of yours that I've seen and I have just SUBBED! You are giving us VALUE by telling us this stuff... in a sea of fast fashion hauls, it's so nice to see a female youtuber sharing levelheaded advice! :)
HOW does every single video you make somehow relate to what I need help with in life?? Your videos are amazing and so helpful. Can I ask why you rent your parents' house when you've bought your own apartment? Sorry if you've already explained and I've missed it! All the love xx
Is it just me or is there a humming in the background- especially in my right ear pod. I kept poseing the video trying to figure out where the humming was coming from 😭
Amazing tips, thank you 💙 To avoid spending too much, I also swear by "wishlists". I just keep stuff on them for a while and finally realise after some time that it was an impulse and that I really don't care about it ahah. Also DIY helps to reduce spendings although you can not DIY everything but it's fun to find a tutorial on RUclips or Pinterest about something and create it yourself instead of buying it. Makes me proud of myself & a little richer, one stone 2 birds 😌
I managed to saved 4,000€ in 6 months out from my food allowance. I really love the SLG, Viviene keychain, Clapton backpack in LV Boutique and I did purchased it last week without asking my husband to buy me those luxury items for me 👍🙂
This is a really good video, I have said the I'm broke line before as do my friends. Don't feel guilty for saying either! This is so applicable too thanks
I wanted to note that Jen Sincero and other law of attraction folks suggest removing the words "broke" and "poor" and similar phrases, and rather say things like, "I have other priorities right now".
Literally all your points were discussed in the book “Worry-free Money” by Shannon Lee Simmons! If you’ve arrived it on your own then wow, you are a natural at financial management :D
Kathrin Artinger I buy one weeks of grocery after meal planning and make food for three days ... twice a week... I treat myself once a week for lunch. It has worked for me. Hope it helps!
Yeah I catch myself saying I’m broke, but last time it happened I stopped myself and was like “well, I’m not broke, I’m applying my money to my debt” and now I’m about to pay off my 2.5k in credit card debt and by September pay off my car 6 months early.
I love you videos!! I def would stay away from saying “I’m broke” instead saying “hey I would love to go out with you but right now I have some priorities I need to take care of and save for”
Don’t want that negative vibe around money girl
ayy, super true!!! xoxoo much love
100% abundance only please 💗🙌😁
Yes, well said, wow girl!!
tt21292 agree☺️
Agree! Call in the good vibes not the negative ones
i'm noticing a theme of videos of people talking about how to save lots of money.... first step is to have a huge income...
Honestly, some of this is just frustrating to me. I also don't want that.
I really would like to see a video on how do u manage to have a 9 to 5 job, a really time consuming side hustle and still being so in point in life (like eating healthy, waking up at 5 and I dunno know, general hygiene?!)
I started a apprenticeship a month ago and Im soooo dead, I never get anything done its so frustrating :c
Yes, agreed, I would love a video on this!!
Same here
You should watch Georgie Stevensons video of her day in the life as a baby lawyer. She does all of that
I work 9-5 and am late sometimes if we have important deadlines to meet.
Two cents is your channel for it.
She went on a trip that costed 12000$. A lot of people make that in a year. I'm not critizing her, but people need to be mindful of other people's situations.
“If you’re not spending most of your money on clothes, you’re spending most of your money on food”

I don’t even make 30.000 a year
My thoughts exactly, she must make a large annual salary to be able to save up $30,000 in such a short amount of time.
haha exactly I could save like 1.000 if I dont eat :D
Some people barely make that in 2 years!
That's why I feel this doesn't help me. The people I've found posting about saving make sooo much more than me
This is in AUD, Not usd
I have helped to curb my clothing shopping addiction with Pinterest. I just pin the items I want to buy, and the act of storing them online gives me a similar rush to owning them since I was probably going to never wear them after I bought them anyway.

Lilla A. I’m the same, I’m not as good as your grandma though, she sounds awesome.
your grandma is an amazing role model.I'm glad that you have someone to look up to and learn from.Thank you for sharing her secrets !!
if only those friends who keep wanting me to go to restaurants with them all the time would actually consider on saving money 🙃

800 a month for rent? Lol I live in California, you can't even rent a bathroom for that amount... 😅
Camille Jones SERIOUSLY it’s ridiculous 😭
As she said, it’s her parents flat, so that’s mates rates. I live in Sydney and the cheapest one bedroom apartment around the city suburbs are min $500/week (or min $2000 a month) AUS$
In Austria, 400 euro a month for a one bedroom apartment is average.
I pay 450 a week lmao if anyone’s poor (it me)
I live in NYC. I can't even rent a closet for less than 2,000 😅😅😅
I need to move..to bad I'm broke😫
I love you Muchelle! I started waking up at 5am in the morning and added watching ONE video from your channel to start my day.
Just here to say I appreciate you and your channel so much! Your videos are so thorough, well made, absolute gems of information and wisdom, and I love your down to earth, positive attitude. How do you have the energy to do your side hustle on top of a regular job?! Just thinking about it makes me want a nap.
If its something enjoyable to you then it wont necessarily feel like work
My partner and I read The Barefoot Investor and it changed everything for us money wise. We got engaged only 3 months ago and we have saved 80% of what we want to spend on the wedding already, all while paying for our (small) bills, giving ourself spending money and date money.
How many times have you been told you look like Perrie from Little Mix?! Crazy!
Love your transparency with all this. So helpful to hear how different people manage money! :)
Meh...
Yep
Yes
I didn’t grow up in privilege, no money savings house or inheritance, got there on my own . It’s possible once you set your mind right and stop thinking how everyone else has it better
Just paid off $30,000 in student loans!! ✨
I disagree slightly with auto payments as I pay as many Bill's as I can with my credit card so i get points which = free money. But to each their own
Hi Muchelle, I came across you channel a couple of months ago. I have been following along with the simplify your life challenge, and it has truly been life changing for me. I can so relate with just having lot of crap. Haha, just wanna say thanks for your videos, you are very insightful beyond your years.
I've just went on a massive de-clutter and I'm doing the same thing of not buying things I dont need. It's honestly the best thing ever.
Currently I made a mental note to myself that I'll just shop every 6 months lol and it's harder than what others think especially for an impulsive shopper like me
3 minutes in and I want to cancel all of my Black Friday orders and declutter my closet 😩😂 needed these tips, thanks girl!
FIRST video of yours that I've seen and I have just SUBBED! You are giving us VALUE by telling us this stuff... in a sea of fast fashion hauls, it's so nice to see a female youtuber sharing levelheaded advice! :)
Those emails definitely used to get me in trouble, especially when I worked from home online. It was so easy to take a break and make a purchase.
HOW does every single video you make somehow relate to what I need help with in life?? Your videos are amazing and so helpful. Can I ask why you rent your parents' house when you've bought your own apartment? Sorry if you've already explained and I've missed it! All the love xx
Hey! I rent my apartment out to a little family so that I can pay off my loan with more ease :) xoxo
Ahh I understand. That's such a good idea if you have the ability to do it! Thank you for explaining :) xx
I was literally JUST searching for money saving tips on Google this afternoon! Thank you as always ❤️
This is the best video on financial minimalism I’ve seen.
First video I've come across of you and I like you instantly! Subscribed and even pressed the bell notification button which I don't usually do. :)
Is it just me or is there a humming in the background- especially in my right ear pod. I kept poseing the video trying to figure out where the humming was coming from 😭
Thank you! This has helped me so much!
It's so coincidental that this video popped up in my notifications 😂 A well-needed money saving tips video. Thanks girl! ❤️🌿
These were such great tips! You video just came up on my feed, i love your content!
Your content is always so inspiring. Thank you so much!
Amazing tips, thank you 💙
To avoid spending too much, I also swear by "wishlists".
Omg that bit on take out food spoke to me!! Such a great video! 😘😘😘
This video is so informative, one of the best I’ve seen about money control!! Will definitely be following these points!
I'm a huge fan of the barefoot investor. I left Australia 5 years ago but I still read his newsletter every week.
My new favorite channel!
I managed to saved 4,000€ in 6 months out from my food allowance. I really love the SLG, Viviene keychain, Clapton backpack in LV Boutique and I did purchased it last week without asking my husband to buy me those luxury items for me 👍🙂
Money can be such a struggle 😭 thank you so much for this amazing advice and tips 🙌🏻
Dont get rid of what you own. Just stop buying
Excellent reminders... thank you, Muchelle!
This is a really good video, I have said the I'm broke line before as do my friends. Don't feel guilty for saying either! This is so applicable too thanks
First youtuber to say "install an ad blocker". Haha... Love your videos.
on the take out note, making a bunch of meals and freezing them helps with that
I wanted to note that Jen Sincero and other law of attraction folks suggest removing the words "broke" and "poor" and similar phrases, and rather say things like, "I have other priorities right now".
WE 👏 NEED 👏 MORE 👏 PERSONAL FINANCE 👏 VIDEOS
Just saw your video in my recommended... subscribed! Loved the video, love your vibe 🤗
you're such an inspiration! thank you x
Literally all your points were discussed in the book “Worry-free Money” by Shannon Lee Simmons! If you’ve arrived it on your own then wow, you are a natural at financial management :D
I like listening to your voice and the manner in which you speak.
Just discovered your channel, love your topics and advice, thank you!!!
Yes, I noticed as I started cleaning my stuff out I really don't need anything of what I have!
Absolutely needed this!!
You are so full of knowledge! Thank you for your content. 🙌🏼💖
Take out (and the accompanying grocery waste) is my biggest struggle.
Can anyone else hear a strange noise in the background like a faint wailing? Im convinced my house is haunted listening to this haha
Your Channel is so good, im an artist who struggles with accumulating and decluttering and im definetly going yo follow your advices!❤❤

Kathrin Artinger I buy one weeks of grocery after meal planning and make food for three days ... twice a week... I treat myself once a week for lunch. It has worked for me. Hope it helps!

You’re just rocking that hair style 😍😍

Never been here this early ☀️☀️
Also great tips and soooo happy that you uploaded🌹
I’d love to see a video labs review/main take aways on Channel notes!
Yeah I catch myself saying I’m broke, but last time it happened I stopped myself and was like “well, I’m not broke, I’m applying my money to my debt” and now I’m about to pay off my 2.5k in credit card debt and by September pay off my car 6 months early.
your content is just so useful and original
Love this video... as always! I’m trying to save money... I’m definitely getting better at it but it’s still so hard! X
