Being different in the car community is no easy task - unless you have no choice. Paul decided to take his Saturn SL2 and fully modify it to it's absolute limit! This Big Turbocharged Saturn SL2 uses parts such as a Subaru WRX airlift kit, an ebay turbo, underglow, and the ultimate 90's styling. So is the car actually worth the time and effort? You didn't link his channel bro
Dude don’t promote Dave plzzzzzzzzzzz it’s a financial trap for those who are broke it’s just adding more debt to ppl who are already behind $100 now to pay for gas per say = $200 out of pocket for someone next week it’s a borrowing snowball effect for debt help subscribers buy merch not debt.
Plz plz plz this app promotes its self as help but do the math you either need to make enough to pay off your debt in a week and still eat but if you can do that you most likely wouldn’t need Dave in the first place. Or you don’t make enough the next week or pay period to be comfortable & pay it back plus some , then your in the same situation digging yourself in a deeper whole. The goal is to progress not loose money. You will always owe more than you borrowed plz plz plz be smarter @ThatDudeInBlue subscribers
This app is predatory. You literally borrow from your next check so you’re -$200 off the jump.
Looks wise that car is dope.
Man this brings be back to 2008. This sl2 would go by the drive in every Friday when the car shows would be happening. It had nitrous and a turbo and he would lay smoke down the block EVERY week. As a 16 year old, I loved that car.
Very cool personal story. You mean the exact same car thats in this video?

Shit fr fr that took me way back seeing these whips
Man I remember when I saw guys working on Saturn's and I thought.... well maybe I can do that to mine.
This guy is me about 20 years ago. I had a modded 1993 Saturn SC and a modded 2001 SL2. They turned heads everywhere I went, probably because no one knew what they were. There was literally zero aftermarket support so I had to one-off everything. Good times, good times.
I remember seeing a teal colored twin cam sc around town about 15 years ago. Had all sorts of stickers on it and you could hear it purging when he shifted. Only one i've seen built up where I'm at, then again I dont go to Bandimere or anything.
Those were the golden ages of car shows because you could actually see something different. Now, most people build the same things the same way.
I had a 93 sc2 with the SPS stage 3 head package
Only thing I remember associated with Saturn enthusiasts was Outer ring racing or something like that.
@@smrsocmoneyracing2552 real talk that's why I only rock cars people don't rock or mod I currently got a 2016 Toyota yaris hatchback I did little things here and there to it its boring having the sane Subbies and Hondas on the road hahaha live turning heads being a troll
SATURN GANG RISE UP
I miss my ion redline
06 irl and 93 sw2 here, I know where the green monster is if you know you know
I kinda miss my gutted SL1 now...
I don't miss not having ac, a radio, rear seats, a spare tire, or a dashboard though.😐
I miss my dads old sc2 2 door. The thing was so light weight i swear its frame was made of mr noodle
Slammed ‘96 SC2!!!!
Paul is a great dude. One of the pioneers in the modded SL2 community.
Thank you for the kind words!
so were you on Gratiot with this car years back like I'm talking right after you cut the roof off I remember this car I swear I do on Gratiot I didn't think it was the same color though maybe it was I don't know but I just remember this car from being on Gratiot
@@Waterfordmaxx if this is the gentleman that does on the car I would like to know if that white Saturn you have is for sale I had a red one that I fell in love with but I put $300 and 7,000 miles on it as my daily as I went through 20 other cars that one I just kept because the gas mileage was great and it ran great and I love to find another two door 5-speed car that car I bought it in Alabama with 100,000 miles and put 300 on it basically when it was done so 300 plus thousand miles before I sold it to a friend
I feel like I was teleported back to the mid 90’s when I was part of the import scene. I love the camera shots of the car. Good job to the owner of the car.
I like the "90's fitment." The tires sit on the bead properly with straight sidewalls, and with rolled fenders and flushed up fitment, it doesn't look tucked or stock. Fuctional and aggressive. Perfection.
Also, it's hilarious how he made a landaulet out of a Saturn.
Saturns were all made out of resin you can't roll the fenders all you can do is heat them and hope they don't crack
Functional my ass.
I appreciate this way more than the typical BRZs with shit hanging from the bumber and anime stickers all over the place.
You made my waifu sad 😔 I need to consol her now
Nice job David. After reading some of the comments what I have learned is that no matter what we drive we all share the same passion when it comes to the love for our cars. 👍🏻👍🏻
Great kid, great car.... takes after his dad! Thanks for sharing.

Love it! Love the obscure builds
Better than the the mainstream iconic builds imo. It is much more exciting to see someone fully modify a car no one would think of touching.
Mad respect to the style and effort. Things dope for a Saturn. Unique build
Who knew, right?
This is what tuning culture is all about. Love seeing unique builds like this.
That's exactly what it's about personal expression
This build is better than any stance build from the past decade.
Love it.
I was part of the electromotive forum for stand alone ecus back in the early 2000s. The moderator had a turbo saturn and had blocked the term "Saturd" on the forums 🤣
Not too long ago a raced a super charged one in my 2v mustang gt, and man was that a good race. He ended up getting me his in the top end, and all I heard was supercharger whine. It was amazing watching that saturn go, such a sleeper.
I had a 1996 SW wagon with over 300,000 miles on it for a while that I bought off my trade school instructor for $200. It had no rockers left, thumb tacks holding up the headliner, and holes rusted all the way through the floor. I chopped off the muffler shortly after buying it and replaced the stock resonator with an 18" glass pack. That thing was LOUD. Every Sunday I would drive by my local church and bang first gear off the rev limiter for half a mile until it started overheating. I ended up getting rid of it since I lacked the storage space and sold it to the junk man for $400. I have a 370Z now and love it to death, but that old POS wagon was extremely fun to drive in its own special way.
Maybe you should've gone to church instead ;)
A girl in my high school had one. It was bulletproof at 165k miles. I always liked the huge gauges and that big ass tach lol. I wish Saturn was able to continue with the same potential they showed in the first gens
I wouldn't call this a ricer, this is a nice representation of someone's vision. I love the personality of it. One of my favorite touches is the valve cover.
its the definition of ricer. Slow ass car. tonnes of cosmetics + neons. LOLLOLOLOL garbageeeeeeeeeeeee
@@SR-yt2bc "I don't like it so it's rice"
@@trverally7929 never said I didn't Like it. Just stating facts. Who the f##k uses neons these days? U stuck in the 70s bro? Every type of cosmetic ever made is on this car 🤣 pile of junk. Stay mad bro. Garuntee you own an NA altezza/subaru legacy and you think it's the fastest thing on earth 🥰🤣
I had a slow SL SOHC that got great gas mileage and still ran great at 232,xxx. I don't know the mileage after that since the odometer stopped working lol.
These cars were not heavy so you can have a quick car just by slapping in a turbo and decent tuning ...DOHC models of course.
I had a 2001 LS2 and I wanted to grab a motor from the supercharged cobalt SS to make a fun sleeper but I had to get rid of it when my first born was born. Miss that car to this day. My son is 9
Ahhh, the memories! I had a boosted 95 Saturn back in 09, I used the 4g64 manifold. 15psi was a fun car. These cars were extremely light they 2314 from factory! Fun Fact: You could use the ECU from an automatic to rev to 8k. Just make sure you have a forged bottom end.
If you do have a bottom end package, will the heads hold?
What ecu tune use ¿
Mine never did. And I o-ringed the head, ran copper head faster, had arp head studs, a ported 1997 head, crowder rods, je pistons, and ran 4 additional fuel injectors. But I was running stoopid amounts of boost from a t3/t4. I dynoed one time on 14lbs of boost (medium setting) and made 386 whp and 447wtq.
@@tylerr9935 holy f**k do you have any videos of your car?
When I was in high school back in 05 the local street races you would see nothing but Saturn SC2s, SL1s, Honda Civics, Accords, Camry's, Carrolas, Neons and such and a few FCs, FDs, Some old 90 Supras, Z32s. But it was always the Saturns and Civics duking it out. Though a lot of Saturns ended up with cracked blocks.
This is quirky and strange, and I love it. Its the first car I have seen in a long time thats really a 1 off build that many have never seen before. Epic build and I would love to see his white coupe here on TDIB also. Show us Betty White also please.
Loving the return to the long intros David, personal favourite part of any of your videos
Oh heck yea. Thank you for the update on this car. Just keeps getting better!
So much dedication. 👍💪
I too have a 98 Saturn SL2 with 325K. Have had it since 100K and has been the best car ever. I have been wanting to do something special to it for years. This has inspired me to finally get off my butt and treat her to the respect it deserves. Great build!
I've always liked the look of Saturns. I did consider buying one when I was looking for my last vehicle, but the ones around here being sold by dealers or absolutely beaten to crap. They really were an innovative and different company. Every single time I see one it looks like a flying saucer from outer space. I love it.
Super pron to frame rust
They were meant to be disposable cars and were treated as such, just like the cavalier and the cobalt
It's not hard to keep them running even in poor shape, parts were cheap when I had mine last year so it's probably just a matter of going on rockauto and to yards to get them sorted. They'll never be "perfect" you gotta go down south for nice ones.
him
having this since 05 at 25 miles is my inspiration. got a 9th gen si i got at 45 im trying to hold on to for the rest of my life
Saturns don't die, people kill them..
And I got laughed at for my 03 Elantra gt build back in the day. Love the car. Keep up the good work!
A build for a man with unpopular opinions. I dig it.
This thing is fucking amazing, I stalk this car in the Facebook saturn group 😂❤
Great dude, knows too much about saturns lmao
I see this car at every meet I go to and it’s so sick to see it on this channel! Gotta love the Michigan car scene
Bro! I literally body dropped/bagged one back in the day for a friend! It was the first car I cut the floor out of so it was completely different than the trucks I usually worked on. The entire system was completely one off because a kit didn't exist but it was just as fun as cutting up truck and laying it out! Sick vid and it took way back in the good ol days!
Holy shit that blow off sounds nuts! Way to go my friend, that's a pretty Saturn.👊✌️
This thing screams need for speed underground. I love it
You need to review a Saturn ion redline.
This is my favorite video of yours now, I've always had a soft spot for the SC2. They're super light and fun to take on a track day with minor suspension mods, decent tires, and a can do attitude!
That's crazy I have the exact same sc2 but unfortunately it's broken in my garage collecting dust I really wanna get it running again
I had a 99 sl2 and did some work to it. Definitely had a big system, rims, neons, magnaflow exhaust, and intake. Loved that car so much. This Saturn is so beautiful and well put together
One of my first cars was a Saturn. Always love to see a unique build and a familiar place represented in a video. #PureMichigan
michigan is a cesspool
This is awesome. It looks so much better than last time. I learned how to drive in my folks 99 sl2. Good little car. Nice work!
I have 15 grand in my SL2 engine. Just sitting. It was the car that taught me everything. Has JE & crower internals. T3/t4 ,log manifold. Sds injection. All old school tech. Made 194 on the dyno @ 11psi
The ultimate sleeper build. A Saturn that slaps. Genius.
That's definitely not a sleeper haha. If it was completely stock looking maybe.
@@sergeantspeed5941 who would ever suspect getting walked by a Saturn with purple underglow tho 🤣
@@Khan.WrathOf subbies evos and Honda guys would cry getting beat
Saturn is just a very underrated manufacturer. nobody gave them the recognition they deserved when they were new, but the sudden love and appreciation for them is amazing
Back in the day my dad bought my mom a ion and she bought him a ion redline. He had it for 50,000kms before his retirement, he traded it in for a first Gen Fr-s. Only got to drive it once to pick them up from the airport and it scared the absolute shit out of me.
Sudden? Lol the only people who love and appreciate these are the people who grew up with them.
Awesome to see variety. Great job
This is awesome! Gives so many ideas for my Saturn sl1
He built the car I had in my head 18 yrs ago, congrats
This is pretty awesome. Tons of character!
I think it would be considered a Tuner. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing & got impressive Results!!! It's a TUNER
Reminds me of my buddies saturn. He did a junk yard build of parts from different engines that all some how came together and was about a 14 sec N/A build (not super fast) but would kill it at the street races in the early 2000s
Spent my entire career as a Saturn dealer tech. I found qksl2 on the internet way back in the day and it inspired me to build one. My daily was a 92 sl2. I built the engine with forged internals, slapped a similar turbo on it with some big injectors. It's still running strong. 320wheel at 17psi. Some videos over on the channel. Cool car Paul!
The original video was always one of my favorite on here! So happy to see it again and the progress it’s had. Only thing that I was surprised he let go was the 1 of 1 carbon fiber wing on the back. Thing looked great on there!
It just came off this year... I still own it and always will but I was ready for a more "adult" look... and that thing made a ton of noise rattling back and forth on the trunk
My buddy in high school had a saturn coupe 5 speed. The car had aftermarket exhaust and a bigger throttle body and cold air intake and the car was so much fun to drive and fast for what it was. I miss that lil car 🤣
I miss my riced out sc1 wish I never totaled it. After it was a complete loss I raced it in a figure 8 race and it still lived until I took it to the crusher.
Was the best car I’ve ever had for a 200,000+ oil burner car just would not die.
My mom got my grandma's champagne sl2 when I was in high school and I took my license test in it! We had that till the first motor blew up at 260,000 miles. Then put in a junk yard motor in and she drive it another 120,000 miles until it rusted out and the trans went out!
Its awesome that you are in my home town and I watching with a big smile while you talk about woodward ave. Wish you would come out during the dream cruise one year.
this is one of the cars that got me into cars, because my neighbor had one and every time he would work on it i would be there watching and thinking it was the coolest car in the world
SL2 was the first car I bought myself, I drove it until the dmv told me I couldn't anymore (knock sensor). Great to see them getting some love.
Love the shots out In greatlakes parking lot! Home town vibes👊
Late 90s early 2000s vibes are so strong and I love it.
Different!!!
I freaking love the car !!!!
Super clean and retro Definitely took me back in time !!
I was so excited to watch this after watching the other one. I love Saturn's and almost bought a boosted one myself back in the day. They are stupidly reliable and get killer fuel mileage. Truly and under appreciated little car(sc1-2 sl1-2 and sw1-2. I'd love to bag a wagon 🤤
No joke drill out the Cat and these babies can get crazy mileage, fill the tires to max psi and let those babies roll, I get 44 mpg sometimes in the winter with the cold air, SOHC but they are torquey fun motors and the cars weight next to nothing. I have a wagon
@@coupelikeacaravan bro I want a wagon so bad! They are hard to find around here. Yeah they make good power and are bullet proof. I beat the hell out of mine when I had it. I used to work at a body shop they got them totaled and rebuilt/sold them is what got me into them. They really were under appreciated cars for the time. As good or better than a Honda imo
my first car was a 92 SL2, basically went the same route just not as extreme. bullet proof car and will never be forgotten
That's awesome! I had a bunch of Saturn's growing up. My favorite was my 2001 SC2 that I built and turboed. My favortie car ever!
I worked with STR performance to create a lot of first parts for the SC2 in 1995. Coil overs. Head an block work. A lot electronics. A lot. Built transmission an short shifter. Sounds primitive now but nothing was made for them. Carbon fiber fenders an hood. Still got my pics an still have love for the ol Saturn.
Even though I've had some VERY nice cars over the years, I still like these little plastic buzz boxes. They are so simple and honest.
Gorgeous car actually. Never noticed how nice the lines of these are in all these years. Well done.
I personally love the sl2, ive always liked saturns. I had a 1st gen 4 door in Pearl white, it was dope until you hit a corner in snow, they light in the back lol
I watched the first ever review on his car on RUclips 8 years ago crazy Paul still has it and it's gone this far
Nicely done patience and perseverance paid off ! Turbo Saturn FTW❤
That's a DOPE lil' saturn..brings back memories.
I literally just cut up an Ion Redline clone (no supercharger, but had all the bodykit parts) for Auto extrication the other day... the amount of plastic is insane. We were able to basically break off every panel and get access as needed. Very neat to see
this tings been on the scene and youtube b4 but still cool to see it again
Paul, this car is awesome. Would love to follow your recipe. Great job!
Had two 99 SL2'S in my life, both 5 speed. The most fun car to drive. Had a full exhaust, intake, lightweight flywheel, ebay coilovers and 17 inch wheels. It was like a go kart. I would bang gears all day and it just wanted more. You just had to check your oil level everyday 😂
I’ve seen this guy on Woodward countless times, awesome to see such a unique car get recognition
I built one these years ago. So much fun. Cheap easy build. Need to do it again.
I love the Saturn love! Still getting mine ready for a visit.
It’s nice seeing clean, awesome builds of these cars. I threw around the idea of K swapping my SW1 for the ultimate sacrilegious machine but unfortunately the car started to fall apart and ended up in the junkyard last weekend. Coolest car I’ve ever owned.
I had 1995 and 2001 SL2s years ago, they were great little cars. Pretty quick, too, all things considered. Both of mine were 5-speeds, and they were honestly pretty fun little cars.
Man I miss doing bodywork on those. Every thing bolts on. Door skins Quarter panels . You can paint the side of the car without the car in the paint booth
There's something even I forget sometimes, there aren't rules for modifying your car, if there aren't parts, you can literally make something work. My girlfriend and buddy had one of these in high school, now I totally want to find one for my gf's daughter.
Loved my Saturn SC1
My first car was a Saturn. Never even thought of doing something like this back then lol. Good job man
I used to have a 1994 SC2 manual in gold, used to be my grandmas car and then she gave it to me. Loved the pop ups and the feeling of the car.
I AM SO GLAD THIS SATURN IS STILL GOING.
Owned a '96 SL2 as my first car. This takes me back in ways I can't describe.
As a fellow Saturn owner, I appreciate this. I own an Ion Redline.
Awesome build!!
Dude, that car is somethin' else. I love it.
I remember seeing this at car meets all of the time years ago! Glad he’s getting his car noticed!
I’ve been seeing that Saturn around the metro detroit area glad to see it getting a review vid💪🔥
Very interesting build👍🏾👍🏾
Very clean build bro
i know its a saturn, but i loveeeeeeee it, even more than a lot of newer "builds" mopars, kias, civics ect where 95% of mods are stickers, leds, and shit 3m taped, fake parts like caliper covers , deleted every thing and people not working on their cars, plus it takes me back
My 1996 sl2 is still one of my favorite cars I’ve had. Really wanted to make it zip so it’s cool to see what I thought of doing almost ten years ago in a video
6:29 I love that turbo shimmy
This is what modding a car is about. So clean, so unique, and all the owner. No dumbass stickers and hearts hanging from fake tow hooks
Saturn was the Japanese influenced American built future. This was the GM response to the Chrysler/Plymouth partnership with the Mitsubishi and putting American badges like eagle on talon/eclipse. Ford did similar things with the Mazda partnership. That’s why the ford probe turbo exists.
My first car was a 1999 Saturn SL2 and man I LOVED that car I am going to own another one day!!
Sweet ride brother 🤙
