This was the most-requested video that you guys asked for! I tried my best to make it a comprehensive view showing what one of my busiest days looks like. What else do you want to learn about being a pilot?
Why the repost?
Why did you remove this and again re uploaded it?
Awesome DAY-IN-THE-LIFE video.
@@TexasRanger1996 It had some upload errors that I found and had to fix. All good now though!

true indeed
Bro. Loved the little “random” fact bubbles that you popped up throughout the video. Awesome content
Glad you noticed! First time I've tried out graphics like this
Swayne Martin I remember watching your video of flying in Hawaii for your first time as a airline pilot!
@Swayne Martin - it'd be awesome if you could add additional flight details besides the current time to arrival, like approx current altitude, airspeed, heading or geolocation, phase of flight etc. I would love to demonstrate your videos to our aviation customer service course training program students.
@@SwayneMartinPilot Those graphic pop-ups are awesome! 👊🏼
@@SwayneMartinPilot What's the name of the song you added to the clips showing the flight? They are inspiring. 03:48 Please 🙏🏻

How things have changed ! My Dad was a captain for TWA and retired in 1975 . I spent most of my earlier days traveling around the country with him. A coast to coast, 5 hour trip non stop resulted in an overnight layover, and 85 hours per month flight time. You guys have it rough now, and should be praised for your love of flight. We thank you all for the service so needed by modern society. Good luck, and be safe. The spirit of our Lord be beneath your wings, you're runways always too long, your altitude too high, and the plane never fail.
85 hrs at 5 hrs per day means 17 days on and 13 days off. I prefer the other way, 17 days off per month which I managed 2/3'rds of the time over 22 yrs.

That seems like the most effective combination: an old "salty dog" captain, with a new and enthusiastic "up and comer" 1st officer.
Tom was a great guy to fly with! Very knowledgable
Tom definitely looks like he’s got a wealth of knowledge and experience.
He is funny though I have spoken with him on intercom as a ground support couple of times pushing aircraft out of the gate

Yeah I enjoyed it too
Swayne, you said it best with your last statement. What it all comes down to is, it’s a job. There are good days and bad days. In the end, you’re doing what you trained for and you enjoy what you’re doing! To me, that makes it a little less of a job. Thanks for taking us along, I really appreciate you making and sharing your life through these videos!

I really just wanna grasp the difficulty of being a pilot before i go to deep, This video helps me understand how difficult it is to be a pilot.
Great job!! As a passenger I’m always so wrapped up in the where, when and how of traveling that it’s easy to forget all the hard work that goes in to getting me safely to my destination. So thanks to you and everyone that makes it happen…Well done

I love how your videos definitely have been improved overtime. I’m in love with aviation working on my private for years.. ups and downs in life, thank you for taking me fly with these videos
Great video! I work at the CLT airport and being able to work with the pilots is a major highlight. I travel a lot and always thank the pilots when exiting the aircraft as these trips would not be possible without you guys. You are greatly appreciated! Stay safe!
One of your best ones yet, Swayne! Impressive to see the amount of work that goes into a day of flying.
It's definitely a LOT of work
I’m currently training at LIFT academy in Indiana, once I’m done I’ll be flying the Embraer 170 at republic airways so this was a great glimpse into what’s ahead for me. Nothing but excited!
I love the Embraer 170, here in brazil where I from almost all regional routes use it. Embraers in general have such sleek and modern cockpits, even comparison to airbus. I hope to fly one of them somedays but for now only on simulator because Im 17 and don’t know lots English to be a pilot
How's it going?
Just went to through your whole video list.
Its so impressive that you have had this direction in life from early on.
I love the way that forming a bond with your crew is a major part of your life.
I do hope though that your passion is not erased through tyranny of the monthly bid and the commute on the El

I truly admire your passion for flying, as well as appreciating your professional production. How do you find the time and energy to do all that on a busy schedule like yours can be a good topic on its own.
This video is so well done. The editing, the graphics, the storyline, everything. Congrats. Wow. A pilot who knows how to edit!
I’m in the railroad industry and it’s about the same right now and I appreciate your look into starting out and the regionals! I’m really debating making a career change right now into flying and really enjoy a current look into what the regional life is like. Thank you so much.
I swear Swayne has never created a bad video
He’s meticulous
So cool to see the look in your eyes as you were actually flying the aircraft: great to see a pilot who actually LOVES and ENJOYS his job!!!! I was a flight attendant for TWA back in the day, and too many times I flew with a piloting crew who hated flying!!! It always seemed to make my job a little harder when the pilots weren't happy with their job. I remember the 4 and 5 day trips TWA used to send us on; they were brutal, but overall I had the most fun I've ever had in my entire life! Anyway, thank you for the video!
Been watching for like two/three years so proud of how far you’ve come
You do such an amazing job with your videos. I really appreciate you bringing us along.
Greetings from South Africa doing my fixed wing training here, Thank you for the little pieces of detail that makes this video all the more inspiring. Great video Captain!
And on top of all of that work you still manage to find time to setup, record, edit, and upload these amazing videos, keep up the good work bro!!
Wow. The quality of your videos is on another level. Great job
SPOT ON! This is precisely what I ( and many others) have been looking for. The shot of the sunset at 6:00 was so well done and one of my favorite sights to view while in the air. And yes, those midwest winters can be cold and cruel. The addition of the 'information bubbles' were an upgrade above many others vids. Stay healthy, fly safe and we too all shall make it through this pandemic. Once again a great example of someone doing what he is passionate about, is quite good at it and has a slice of artistry within.
Your love for the job shines through! Superb video quality and wonderful presentation - a joy to watch! As a Brit, it's also great to hear of different towns and cities in the US that wouldn'nt normally crop up!
I've been on a second binge watching spree with all of your videos. Love your vids man and thanks for all the advice in the videos.

This is my first time watching any video from this channel. Loved it.
I loved your thoughts at the end about what's most important about being a pilot. I'm at college right now and trying what to do for my career, and every since I was a kid, airports and flights have filled me with wonder and excitement. Being a pilot is high on my list of interests. You guys do good work!
Thanks for the upload keeping me entertained as I’m currently in lockdown! Stay safe I can’t wait to be back flying again

Great job Swayne. keep up the good work and looking forward to your next video.
Very nice production of video. Good job man congratulations from Brazil.
I LOVE watching videos of flights from place to place, and since our world has come to a standstill because of this pandemic, I’ve been scared to fly...so I can “pretend” to fly by watching these videos. (Yes, I’m weird.) 🤪 But I have ALWAYS wondered what a day was like for a pilot (how many flights in a day, etc.). And then suddenly your video shows up on my feed! Very interesting! I can’t believe how long of a day you really have! And here I thought my day as a teacher was long! Wrong!
Anyway, I’ve subscribed and can’t wait to watch more videos! Thank you for getting people from place to place safely. And be safe out there! 😁👍
I've followed your channel all the way from the beginning. This video, like the others, is masterfully produced. Thanks for sharing your day in the life. I recognize that these are trying times and I, for one, would like a video or two on what a day in the life is during this national emergency. Take care and Stay Safe....

What I love most about flying at Dubuque is seeing the American Embraer takeoff and land almost everyday. Sadly, they closed the flight operations, but I get why. Very nice video 👍🏻
Man, your videos got so much vibe with this music and editing! Love this!
You’re the coolest, Swayne.
I am so sad, my training with the airlines was cut early. It might be a few years before I can finally realize my dream 😭
That's tough and I'm sorry to hear that. Aviation will eventually rebound but it might take time!
I too would feel sad if I were in your shoes. I hope you find comfort knowing that everyone is dealing with this. If you just keep your positive attitude, your work will still count. Nothing you’ve done is wasted because no one is getting ahead of anyone right now. Plus, your dream is going to be even sweeter once you get there after this pause. Good luck @A2aviation

Hey Swayne,
Could you make a video outlining the uniform requirements of an airline pilot. Eg. how your company issues uniforms + what you must wear at each stage/location/time.
It's pretty simple, really. (I'm a pilot at a different regional airline, but it's pretty similar from company to company.)
A couple days after you start work, they measure you and order your uniform, which in our case was
- 4 white shirts with epaulettes (i chose 2 short sleeve, 2 long sleeve)
- 2 pairs of black uniform pants
- 2 black neckties
- 1 black uniform blazer with 3 stripes on the sleeve (3 stripes denotes a first officer, 4 denotes a captain)
- 1 pair of epaulette sleeves (3 stripes; worn on the shirt)
Every new pilot had to buy the above (and supply their own black belt, black shoes, and black socks). There were also a few optional items which some of us ordered: an airline pilot hat; an overcoat; a black sweater with epaulettes; and/or a leather jacket like the one the captain is wearing in this video.
At my airline, the company paid half of the cost of the initial uniform (about $600) and the rest was deducted from our first paycheck. The company gives you two metal wings (one pair worn on the shirt and one on the blazer)
Uniform wear rules are pretty similar from company to company, and are spelled out in the company's operations manual. You must wear the uniform when you are operating a flight. You can optionally wear it during your commute to work; some pilots commute in their uniform and others change into it when they get to the airport.
@@mdickinson My airline has pretty similar standards, however, I never had to pay for anything and I'm shocked there are airlines that charge for uniforms. Also we are supposed to cover our uniform if wearing it during a commute, but no one does that.
Referring to the original question: yes, there's like a 10 page document about uniform guidelines, but nobody is bothered enough to read the whole thing. Company got pretty pissed by the relatively new trend of flight crews wearing funny colored socks on duty, so these guidelines update way too frequently.
Great vid
Thanks Devan!
