Yeah the quetzalcoatlus should have way more articulation for its size and i think that making the wings the way they did smaug’s, so that you could fold them up, would be way better.
Not really a fan of Jurassic Park or dinosaur stuff, but I'm a huge aviation nut and I love this set just for the aircraft. This is probably one of the best they've ever done for an airplane as far as proportions and accuracy to the subject material goes.
Quetzalcoatlus is such a magnificent pterosaur. Not particularly a fan of how they made it. Like all pterosaurs the quetzalcoatlus they were aractually quite agile on the ground. Having it be stuck in a permanent flying pose is very unfortunate
"Beasts related to birds are not always the nicest people" is a line that's going to live in my brain rent free for a while. 😆 The new pterosaur looks really good.
I built this set yesterday. I am more than pleased with it! It is one of the best sets that I have built in a while. Now I just have to build some of the others. I love this entire line so far!
If they were going for a C-119 Flying Boxcar, then that is a pretty good representation. No clamshell doors in the back, but you can't have everything.
The only downside of the plane is how stubby it is. Ideally the main fuselage should be noticeably longer, but considering the price, it's not bad. Overall this seems like a nice set. I might even buy it one day and modify it a little
Pterosaurs are not related to birds. They have integuments covering their skin, but those are not feathers. The lack of articulations on the Quetzalcoatlus is very problematic as pterosaurs are known to walk on the ground and some paleontologists even hypothetized that Quetzalcoatlus MIGHT have been a mostly terrestrial animal because of its size.
Actually there is a new paper from last week from Nature that suggests that the integuments might be feathers after all and that feathers might be ancestral to both dinosaurs and pterosaurs.
I really like that plane, definitively works for me: classic loook, beefy with ample interior space, nice color scheme. Even that Quetzathingy doesn’t bother me. Yeah, neck articulation would have been a minimum but since it doesn’t impact too much the final cost of the set, I’ll take it.
Yeah, the pterosaur definitely should have had an articulated neck at the very least. Pretty disappointing since I doubt Lego is gonna make another one anytime soon
I like how much space there is! (Also the box shows three figs in the cockpit so that’s cool) The back is also intended to hold the motorcycle from the atociraptor set, could you show it in the back if you do review that set?
Here’s a deep dive FACT on how to pronoun the dinosaur’s name 1. Que- just like the word “queue” the “ueue” is silence, so it’s just q or “kew” 2. The first T- kew+t is pronounced “cute” referring to the kawaii aesthetic of the winged menace. 3. Zal- people really get confused with this one, some said it’s sal as in salsa, others said it’s cal as in calzone. But it’s actually just the “zl” sound, the a is silenced because z is the last alphabet, just like how this movie is it’s last of its trilogy and l is one of the middle alphabet, just like how mid this design for the dinosaur is. 4. Coat- This one is the simplest, just simply coat due to the fact that this giant flying lizard looks comfy. 5. Lus- us is pronounced as it should, mixed with L and it is to similar to the word “lust”, which is a naughty word, and this set is targeted at kids, so we will have to censored the word. Finally, with all of that combined the correct pronunciation is AHAHHHHHHHHHHHH
I feel like I sort of have the same things to say for the Quetzalcoatlus in terms of articulation. When it’s on the ground I just like to put the wings in a sort of planking position. It looks ridiculous but I kind of love the visual.
Just got this set at Walmart for only $29 on clearance. I love the plane but I have to agree that the quetzalcoatlus should have the ability to move its neck.
I'm pretty sure you can place 2 minifigures facing each other behind the pilot. Which actually makes sense for a cargo plane. And yeah, neck should definitely move.
I'm short on time so I'm just gonna skip to a random point in the review to see what Jang thinks of this one. 4:55 "It's all a mess. It's all bad. It's all bad." Dang, that seems harsh, but who needs context? :P Seriously though, I agree this set would be significantly better if the Texas pelican had more articulation
I went insane as soon as I discovered they had made a lego Quetzalcoatlus. Definitely should have had more posability, but honestly I'm just happy to have it at all.
Legos been lacking on the articulation for animal pieces in recent years! Sure the details/molds are better but some of the old animals like the old monkey are still better to me because they had way more articulation and personality!
Neck articulation would have been a splendid idea, since it's such a large "bird" (who's name I can't really pronounce! 😆) But I do love that plane, really old school, and you can take it apart in disrepair, very nice!
while I wish it had neck articulation, at least the ratchet joints on its wings lets it point its hand down to look like it's on the floor on all fours.
Ah yes. $40 US but £45 UK. That's much more the norm for Jurassic World sets. This is why I almost never buy sets from one of my favourite franchises of all time :(
Seems to me that if they were going to go to the trouble of making a new, larger Quetzalcoatlus (copied and pasted :P), they could have made the neck articulate, but alas...
Having finally seen the movie, I am sorry to tell you that (a) the front end of the plane is a little different and (b) they gave poor Kayla the wrong hair. Oh well. Still looks good overall.
A few points of note: Pterosaurs aren't really that related to birds. Pterosaurs aren't dinosaurs, but close relatives, so something weird like Triceratops or stego are more related to birds Now on to the set: Oh my god the lack of articulation is awful. Quetzal (and all pterosaurs) walked on all fours, so the wings already aren't great, and in the trailer it looks to be grabbing the plane in a walking like pose, so even more points off to this lego. And the lack of neck movement is awful The plane is cool tho
From the movie trailer, it appears this Quetzalcoatlus is attacking the plane. So I believe Lego made the plane breakable. Then you can recreate the scene and have this 'monstered pelican' tear chunks off it.
This is the worst value of all the JW sets this wave. The plane is laughably small (why won’t they make an 8-wide cockpit?) and the Quetzalcoatlus is sad at best, it would be like getting a T-Rex with no articulation.
I honestly think the entire Jurassic Park/World range of sets has the worst volume-of-stuff to price ratio of all themes that exist. The entire line is a let down to me. I might get this set only when it's on sale for the old fashioned plane.
How many people are there even that care how a dinosaur is pronounced. I think it is funny when people pronounce things wron. On purpose or not. But people shouldn't send hate comments or whatsoever to you when you pronounce things wrong. Coz that is real low. Jus say the names how you want it to be sais, and tell people that It is probably wrong, and you don't care.
Yeah the quetzalcoatlus should have way more articulation for its size and i think that making the wings the way they did smaug’s, so that you could fold them up, would be way better.
Exactly
Better and more expensive. Imo this is the best priced JW set of the series.
should've made it as big as Smaug XD
@Tapsa-Tapani what do you mean? Pretty sure that quetzalcoatlus folded its wings to walk on its hands.
Completely agree on the lack of neck articulation. Really limits its value as a toy and as a character for animation.
Finally a set which gives us an Owen Minifig!
Not really a fan of Jurassic Park or dinosaur stuff, but I'm a huge aviation nut and I love this set just for the aircraft. This is probably one of the best they've ever done for an airplane as far as proportions and accuracy to the subject material goes.
Getting very strong Talespin vibes from the plane. (And that is a good thing!)
The new pterosaur looks really good.
Three minifigs in the plane would work probably if you have two people behind the pilot facing each other
It’s okay jang, I don’t think anyone knows how to properly pronounce Quetzalcoatlus
The Quetz should have land mobility, it is one of the distinguishing features of the creatures.
Thats honestly a really cool looking plane. Really dig it.
I built this set yesterday. I am more than pleased with it! It is one of the best sets that I have built in a while. Now I just have to build some of the others. I love this entire line so far!
The cargo hold on the plane is really impressive, fits a motorcycle in the area perfectly. I theorize that was their intention for Owens motorcycle
If they were going for a C-119 Flying Boxcar, then that is a pretty good representation. No clamshell doors in the back, but you can't have everything.
I just LOVE that plane.
Ah yes my favorite set, Jurassic world $&*!?& plane ambush
The only downside of the plane is how stubby it is. Ideally the main fuselage should be noticeably longer, but considering the price, it's not bad. Overall this seems like a nice set. I might even buy it one day and modify it a little

The price of this set is really really good
Love your work Jang, I hope you'll post some more reviews of old Pirates sets :)
LEGO Jurassic World Dominion 2022 7+ 76947 Quetzalcoatlus Plane Ambush Set
Yeah, the pterosaur definitely should have had an articulated neck at the very least. Pretty disappointing since I doubt Lego is gonna make another one anytime soon
Never thought of it, but yeah, the dino definitely needed neck articulation.
I’m normally not a fan of the Jurassic world vehicle sets like helicopters and planes but this is really cool
Definitely getting this set, with a handful of extra parts I can make an smaller osprey, we deserve one after Lego teased us
$40 but £45? I sure do love LEGO's conversion rates lol.
As you started taking the plane apart I said to myself "Flight of the Phoenix". Anyone else?
A neck joint, and maybe some mixel style joints for the legs for it to perch would have been fantastic.
I’m really loving all of the new animals featured in these new waves!
On first sight, this looks like the most value for money put in set.
Quetzalcoatlus is so epic not to mention he’s like 15 feet tall
After seeing this plane and the Horizon set, now I want a Uncharted based set with Sully's plane.
Thanks for the review. I too thought it was a well priced set
I like how much space there is! (Also the box shows three figs in the cockpit so that’s cool) The back is also intended to hold the motorcycle from the atociraptor set, could you show it in the back if you do review that set?
I like the set.
Thanks for the dinosaur comparison Jang :)
from what i can tell i see some gundam kits and i think theres a sazabi, Nice kits and awesome video jang!
Here’s a deep dive FACT on how to pronoun the dinosaur’s name
1. Que- just like the word “queue” the “ueue” is silence, so it’s just q or “kew”
2. The first T- kew+t is pronounced “cute” referring to the kawaii aesthetic of the winged menace.

Ooh, imagine a Razorcrest at this scale with the same Jawa-induced disassembleability...
I like the beak.
Nice review on a retro looking set Jang - definitely one I'll pick up and maybe.... just maybe i'll hang the Quetzalcoatlus from a fishing wire ;)
Geez with that plane i can finally make my "Flight of the Phoenix" Lego brickfilm 😂
Good luck fitting that pterosaur somewhere in NJC zoo.
I'm short on time so I'm just gonna skip to a random point in the review to see what Jang thinks of this one.
4:55 "It's all a mess. It's all bad. It's all bad."
Dang, that seems harsh, but who needs context? :P
Seriously though, I agree this set would be significantly better if the Texas pelican had more articulation
Although the pterosaur has some issues, I like to have it in my Jurassic Park dinosaur collection.
Yep the giant pterodactyl plane ambush sounds good where can I get one of those
I went insane as soon as I discovered they had made a lego Quetzalcoatlus. Definitely should have had more posability, but honestly I'm just happy to have it at all.
that Quetzalcoatlus thing was the largest flying the ever to live
Legos been lacking on the articulation for animal pieces in recent years! Sure the details/molds are better but some of the old animals like the old monkey are still better to me because they had way more articulation and personality!

I would have loved more articulation in the neck and wings to make it land
legs could have used the OG dragon arms and been fine (or mod them to remove the spikes).
while I wish it had neck articulation, at least the ratchet joints on its wings lets it point its hand down to look like it's on the floor on all fours.
aCtUAlLy jAnG it’s pronounced “quetzalcoatlus” not *static beep*, get it right!
Connect that bird to the ceiling fan, forever
Ah yes. $40 US but £45 UK. That's much more the norm for Jurassic World sets. This is why I almost never buy sets from one of my favourite franchises of all time :(
Change the colors on the plane, Baloo mini-fig, oh we oh, it's another Talespin.
This is the best value Jurassic set in a very long time. I completely agree the dinosaur needs to have a bending neck.
I like these sets, but I don't have the space for display 😂
Seems to me that if they were going to go to the trouble of making a new, larger Quetzalcoatlus (copied and pasted :P), they could have made the neck articulate, but alas...
Having finally seen the movie, I am sorry to tell you that (a) the front end of the plane is a little different and (b) they gave poor Kayla the wrong hair. Oh well. Still looks good overall.
Woooowww
I am a fan of cargo aircraft in general, but I personally prefer seaplanes
A few points of note:
Pterosaurs aren't really that related to birds. Pterosaurs aren't dinosaurs, but close relatives, so something weird like Triceratops or stego are more related to birds
Now on to the set: Oh my god the lack of articulation is awful. Ooooohhhh myyyyyyy flipping frickkers!
From the movie trailer, it appears this Quetzalcoatlus is attacking the plane. So I believe Lego made the plane breakable. Then you can recreate the scene and have this 'monstered pelican' tear chunks off it.
Jang has a HISS?
Zooming in...no.
Yes
Ok anyone else getting Tail Spin vibes from the aircraft design? I feel a MOC coming on…..
I think you'll find it's not pronounced *beeeep* it's actually queetl seetl
Queetl Seetl Teetleetl
This is the worst value of all the JW sets this wave. The plane is laughably small (why won’t they make an 8-wide cockpit?) and the Quetzalcoatlus is sad at best, it would be like getting a T-Rex with no articulation.
A Lego cargo plane that can haul actual cargo! …and a couple of figs.
Creature looks like it’s recolored to look like a stork or something
You had to make up that animals name right?
Yummy good review nom nom
it's cabbie from planes
That
I pay for the plane...not the bird
I honestly think the entire Jurassic Park/World range of sets has the worst volume-of-stuff to price ratio of all themes that exist. The entire line is a let down to me. I might get this set only when it's on sale for the old fashioned plane.

It's obviously pronounced quetzalcoatlus
Um, acshually jang it’s pronounced quetzacoatlus and NOT beeeeeeeeep 🤨
Those pterosaurs don’t look LEGO at all
