In 1980, song writers and record producers Jerry Buckner and Gary Garcia were touched by an anonymous poem circulating entitled Footprints In The Sand. No recordings had been made of the song so they adapted the verses and wrote original music and lyrics and produced the first recording of the poem.
Buckner & Garcia recruited Edgel Groves, a well-known singer-songwriter in Atlanta, GA to record the recitation. His performance was compelling capturing the heartfelt spiritual message of the poem.
The song was released nationwide on Silver Star Records in 1980. Upon its release the record not only received play on Christian radio stations but crossed over to Country and Easy Listening formatted radio stations and rose quickly to number 1 in many cities including New York City, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Detroit and most other major cities.
A video of the song was produced but has never been released to the public until now. It is our hope you will be blessed by this video and recording of the song.

Edgel Groves...My little brother who died of pancreatic cancer in 2015 would have loved to of seen this video. Both he and I would cry just listening to the song because it had such a beautiful message of God’s love for us. Thank you so much for bringing joy to my life. I think you'll find the true reason for only 1 pair of footprints is that the Lord was appearing on Junior Kickstart
