- The Indian Economy is doing well with the GDP growing at 6%-7%. Most other large economies cannot match this pace. Other developed countries like the US and UK are facing massive inflationary pressure. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) are large participants in the Indian stock markets and are vital for its growth. However, FIIs may leave Indian stock markets for sometime but will eventually return given the massive size of the Indian economy. It is better to go for a balanced approach across sectors and market capitalization. Moreover, don’t focus just on growth or value but also market segments like Large Caps, Mid Caps and Small Caps. Small Cap stocks are a vast market segment and there are ample opportunities as they are not well researched compared to Mid Cap stocks and Large Cap stocks. When stock markets fall, Small Cap Funds get hit the most compared to Large Cap Funds. It helps to have a portfolio skewed towards Large Cap Funds. First-time equity investors can look at passive funds but the focus should be on active funds. They can have 70%-80% of the equity portfolio towards Active Funds and the remaining towards passive funds.

Everybody say small cap MFs are of very high risk.
But when I check past performance of small cap funds of good MFs like SBI, AXIS, QUANT, ICICI etc. Almost all given very high return.
How and Why?
Can anybody explain
Small-cap companies have a lot of opportunity for growth, their market is not saturated. Small-cap companies' management they have the least experience in the market so they usually do experiments, experiments can go well or they can fail. Whereas large-cap companies are market leaders, they know what works well so they don't experiment with things instead they keep the growth steady. So that makes large-cap companies less volatile vs small-cap companies more volatile. So the risk with small-cap companies is that if they fail and cannot recover they might have to shut down the business, resulting in losses for their shareholders. So that is why people say small-cap companies are very high risk. But, you are talking about MF, so MF will do more research on the company management, their future plans, etc and they create a basket of good small-cap companies. So if you invest Rs. 100, and half of the companies generate positive returns while half go bankrupt, you still have positive returns. Because, you lose limited money but you have chances of earning 2x,3x, and 10x returns on the companies generating positive returns. So with MF, you see they deliver high returns compared to a large cap. But, still, small-cap funds are risky because it might be possible that 80-90% of the companies in the fund go negative and the rest of the companies don't generate that much of positive returns.

Since the video is viewed pan India, use English alone so that every one understands the content.
I don't know how far it makes sense to ask a small cap fund manager for an unbiased view on small cap investment ?
Sir please suggest me some good mutual funds... please sir
@@MohitYadav-th7fz Don't mind, this type of question only shows your immaturity as an investor. Nobody can give a list of best performing funds for all the time. Set your goal and choose few funds active or passive with bit long history. Thats all. Don't pay much attention to star rating. They are short lived.
@@K2Maji i have parag Parikh flexicap fund, mirae asset emerging bluechip fund and axis small cap fund..?
@@MohitYadav-th7fz They are all good funds. Like any active funds they will also underperform in bouts from time to time. You have to accept that and carry on your investment or have to change. I can't see any other alternative.
@@K2Maji thank you sir
