- A Sunday morning ride with Alejandro starting and finishing in Edinburgh City, with a good bit of Gravel in the Pentland Hills in between.
The route begins by heading up The Royal Mile and through Old Town Edinburgh before leading out of the city along the Union Canal. While up in the Pentlands there are some very steep pinches on the climbs and some rough downhills consisting of both gravel path and single track. Some incredible views of Edinburgh and some great gravel 👍. Keep an eye out for the Highland Cows at 20:15.
This route is recommended for experienced riders. It also is quite remote in the hills so prepare for any situation.

I've taken most of these routes in one direction or another. This is obviously spring/summer/autumn, going by the walkers in shorts, with the routes looking nice and dry too. Pretty brave taking the Slateford Aqueduct like that. i either walk my bike across or slip off further further up the path onto Lanark Rd then join the Water of Leith path.
Yeah we did this ride last August when it was nice and dry! I haven't made my way up these trails since it has been winter so looking forward to getting back to the Pentlands soon 👍
Wow what an incredible city! Great video matty
Thanks Bonnie C. Glad you enjoyed!
Edinburgh has fantastic cycling options in all directions. Midlothian and East Lothian are just amazing
Hey Matt, great video! I sent you a Strava request. I would like to ask you a couple questions about the route. Thanks!
Gonna try it out in a couple weeks, just getting a couple upgrades before. Awesome video.

A great location for some cycling 👍!
Awsome route! What part of Pentland hills did you see the highland cows?
Apologies for the delayed response! I have the route in the description if you click on that, we saw them at around the 44k point. Sorry I don't know the exact name of the location so I hope that helps!
