Found your videos through your absolutely superb Railway Empire videos, a game which I consider to be the spiritual successor to the Railroad Tycoon series, so it's awesome to see you going back to this absolutely superb game. Personally I think the graphical style has held up really well compared to other games from the same era. So thank you for honouring that legacy with this playthrough and for all you have taught me about RE and RTS management in general, love your understated, laid back style of YT commentating that is a breath of fresh -air- steam.
Sorry to hear about your Mom. My Dad had a stroke early in 2022 and can no longer walk or talk, though he is now getting stronger. He is in an assisted living facility as well. Life is hard sometimes my friend.
I played the first Sid Meier's game on my aunts IBM. Not sure what the specs were; it wasn't enough because only like half of the assets rendered. In 1990, I was 9. Trying to understand that game at that age was tough. When Tycoon 2 hit Playstation, I scooped it up and found out I still didn't get it. 😅 But revisiting it at 43, maaaaan, I finally understand things and I'm having the fun I knew I was trying have as a kid. 😂 What a great game, and thank you for sharing!
I loved this game 20 years ago on the PlayStation, it was my first train game and it is why I bought Railway Empire. I can't wait for Railway 2 later this year
Thank you. You can expect me as a viewer in every game with trains. There is no more beautiful world for me than the world of trains. Personally, I like freight transport the most and passenger trains less. Also my model railway, which I started 50 years ago and am still expanding, consists only of industry and freight transport. I'm going to enjoy it with your new series of Railroad Tycoon.
I love this game. One of the things I proposed to the Railway Empire dev team was the features we had here with attaching water/sanding towers and maintenance sheds/platforms directly to the station so the train could make use of them by passing through the station. I thought it would have helped the flow in RE and would be used more frequently compared to their maintenance platform.
@@Adekyn100Thank you! Do you plan on continuing this series including the 2nd Century pack at some point? Your videos are really helpful for me to progress through the game, so I was curious to know if you’ll complete the rest of the series. 😊
Man what a surprise!!! I played those when I was little and it was so much fun. This was the first tycoon game I ever played! Super excited about these series 😁😁😁
Hey Adekyn, love that you're doing a series on this game. It's such a classic, brings back lots of memories! Now I can get my nostalgia fix from your videos.
Nice to see some love for the classics :) Bought RRT II Steam edition some years back mostly as an appreciation of its role as a pioneer game in the tycoon genre for me (any many others). However RRT III is still my favourite of basically all railroad games - the dynamic goods pricing is still something that even modern games fail (or don't want) to replicate... and it was amazing.
Glad to hear the good news about your Mom! It's been awhile since I've checked your channel as I've been busy with real life issues myself. Happy to see you back doing more of your excellent videos for my daughter and I to enjoy. Keep on rollin'... chugga-chugga-choo-choo!
I was looking for the next RE2 scenario, and found this. Sid Meier seriously dented my college GPA thanks to RT,, Pirates! and the best game of all time in my book, Civilization. These games are like novels or movies that stay with you your entire life. I'm very happy you caught up with this one. I might mention, in the original Railroad Tycoon, there was a bug that allowed you to takeover a competitor immediately by taking out bonds while he built railroads. As long as you could take out the bigger bond before him, you could then amass enough money to take it over and pillage his company. While a bit unfair, I suppose, it did exemplify the era of the 1980s - and to a certain extent - the 1880s as well.
Awesome call back to a great game and series. Look forward to watching them and reliving memories. Glad to hear your RL has turned out well and is going well. Also really love your comment about how these older games had great game play if graphics were not all that stellar noting why we played them. Lastly thank you for reminded me and some of us our age with the quarter century remark *friendly elbow nudge* Saw another comment and I would so join a discord if you ever considered it.
Can't wait to watch this series. Love Railroad Tycoon. I haven't thought about this game for years, although I do think I have it on steam. Who knows, I may start it up.
Well.. I finally did get the graphics on this game tweeked enough I can actually stand to play it on my 4k 60" screen. Just finished this scenario. I am loving this series.. Enough so I actually took the time to setup a graphics profile to make a 1998 game work on my RX6800XT :) Thanks for looking at an oldie but goodie.
First time commenter, I love the Railroad Tycoon series it would be great to see a RRT 4. These games even entertain me today. I liked how 3 added an Australian campaign. I was also a Train Driver (Engineer) for 9 years so got the 1:1 scale experience.
Funny that you decided to start a series with that game a couple of days right after I bought it (out of nostalgia). It was cheap and just wanted to have it in my collection. I've been playing that game for so long.
@@Adekyn100 The funny thing is, is when you've taken a break and then post something new which I then watch. The next day in my recommended list, in the first 30 videos 9 of them are from you. ranging from 10 months to 4 years ago, but I've seen them all anyway. 😄
Nice to see you playing a classic. I played the heck out of RRT3 back in the day. I still fire it up every once in a while. The extra maps that were user-created extended the life of this. And Railroad Tycoon 2 Platinum (RRT2P) is almost the same game. Let's see how you do when it gets a little more difficult in later scenarios.
It’s a year later. If you still read comments. Thank you for the video series. What I’d like to see is a video on how to play not how to win the scenario. I’d like to fail in the process of figuring it out.

Oh yes! This is still my fav train game. Perfect blend of economics and strategy, and it goes choo choo!
The economy (passengers / mail, industry, stock market, competitors, personal wealth) is deep and allows for interesting scenarios.

We need more. Like lots more :)
In my 40 years of playing computer games, this is up there in my top 5 played of all time.
I have enjoyed getting to know this game over the last few days.
@@Adekyn100 So will you be continuing the series? :)
Trip too memory lane. Played the whole series. And it was great!
I'm enjoying it so far.
This was the game that got me into computer gaming. That seems like a life ago.
happy to hear your family is doing good. please do more videos of this game
Thanks. I intend to do more.

The approach to mid-line maintenance in Railroad Tycoon is better than RE's. The maintenance stations in RE are gridlock waiting to happen.
What a blast from the past! I played this many times as a kid! Thank you for bringing me back to those nostalgic times! You’ve earned a subscriber! :)
Glad you enjoyed it!

so much nostalgia. I'm getting on to play along right now!!!!!!!!!

Hi Adekyn ... Back in my Amiga days, the Railway Tycoon games were the games that got me into Train Games

Thanks. I will be interested to see how I play it too.
Game is currently on sale on Steam for $4.99 or you can get the whole collection (I, II and III) for $14.99

The best train game ever
The best train game ever made. Wish they could just make this in modern day graphics.
They tried but couldn't get the backing.
It is a great game.❤
Yes, without question an all-time great.
Mr. President, this game was the beginning of it all for me. Cheats like Cattle Futures or Casey Jones...
I understand why; it's a good game.
Wish you would put out more indepth game info. faster!
Could you explain what you mean, please?
