I truly loved this book as a boy: over the last few years I've been in recovery & rehab after suffering 2 strokes & neuro surgery & listening to audio books is one of the ways I can pass time without frustration BC books are difficult for me to hold now but this reading has/ is bringing me so much joy again😊 Shaun
Thank you so much for all your hard work. please know that your readings have been a real pleasure, and I feel that what you're doing here stands toe-to-toe and shoulder to shoulder with the best of readings.
Then I have good news, for various reasons I'm going to try and accelerate the project and have a new chapter out more or less every week. A lot of classes and kids have been using this for school so I want to try and get it all out before the end of the school year. If all goes according to plan it should be done by mid May.
The illustrations are wonderful, as are the voices & the reading of the narrative. It sure makes the housework more pleasant to listen to one of my favorite stories!
Bard comes into the story for like a couple of pages, warns the town about the dragon coming, is the last one standing to defend his town, learns of the weak point of Smaug from a random thrush, and f*cking slays the Dragon just like that. Bro I didn’t even knew this guy existed until this chapter and I now love him.
It definetely turned the tide! In so long a film it shouldn't have been left out. Otherwise the role of Bard and the master of the town are displayed quite well in the film.

Thank you for reading, with that said. The hobbit is so bad, the MAIN villain, the thing that had been built up sense the start! Is killed by some random guy from a town they visited! WHY JUST WHY
Plot device Mister Frodo. Plot device. And in reality, Smaug isn't the BBEG. The real bad guy is almost Thorin, and definitely the discord caused by the vast treasure.
No,no the point in Hobbit is not who killed the villain. I think the point is summed up words " If more of us valued comforts of home over a treasured gold,it would be a merrier world." Becouse everyone begin loosing their head over gold at some point, almost forgetting more important things.

Bard for King!
So disappointing that they didn't include the talking thrush in the movies. Was one of my favorite parts in the book

Yeah, the Dragon is really a bit of a red herring, tbh.
Smaug was never made out to be the bbeg he was more said to be a hurdle
