- Tarot and the Archetypes of the Collective Unconscious | How Tarot Works | How to Read the Tarot | Tarot Card Reading
This video is all about the Tarot and how it links back to the Archetypes of the Collective Unconscious. As such, using the Tarot can help us shift into a more intuitive narrative mode of thinking that helps us see the common patterns in life and how to handle certain situations in wiser ways.
Tarot Card reading is a really great psychological tool for accessing the unconscious mind... similar to a Rorschach test. And that's specifically because the Tarot is a visual language that relates directly back to the archetypes. And the archetypes reside in everyone.
I also give demonstrations about how to do Tarot card reading and how to Read the symbols and cards within the Major and Minor Arcana. And it's meant to give you a solid understanding of Tarot and how Tarot works.

You read my mind. I've been trying to explain this to Tarot people. I quite like Tarot, I have two decks, used to have two other ones but lost them a long time ago. It lets me see my life from different and sometimes unexpected perspectives, and they help me figure things out. But other Tarot people don't like it when I tell them it will be true no matter what card I pick and they're not "magical" any more than a vitamin C tonic is a magic potion lol. I mean, in a way its magical, we just don't call it magic anymore. Magic got a bad name, they used to burn people alive, so they re-branded and now it's science. Although some people has clearly taken the anti magic thing a bit too far and think it means anti imagination and anything unknown, which totally goes against science/magic which is about exploration if that makes sense. Anyway, thanks for this, next time I'll just send them to this video, you're great at explaining things in ways that make sense.
Most logical and rational explanation of tarot.
That was amazing I learnt more from this 17 minute video than from years of reading books. My memory is terrible but you have made it easy for me to write my own at a glance cheat sheet.
You explain the tarot and it's Jungian psychology so beautifully. I've been a Jungian fan and tarot reader as a hobby for over 30 years. I have difficulty trying to explain the psychology to people as most just want to be spoon fed their answers. Keep up the good work, I look forward to your next vid.
Thank you! :)
I recommend giving people the “Jung and Tarot: An Archetypal Journey” book by Sallie Nichols to read. That’s how I usually explain it to them.
Thanks Emerald. Pure explanation of the potentially complex!
Solid explanation !! I've been seeing a lot of Ten of Swords and the Emperor recently, the synchronicity of seeing you explain these here now as I'm moving past self limiting beliefs is inspiring !
Thank you for your sensitive and beautiful soul insights ...
You are absolutely amazing, thank you for this lovely video!
I think your channel is impressive.
Thank you :)
Now i reached the end and heard about your tarot channel so I will check it out. Thank you! 🤗🤗🤗
Beautifully explained. xx
Amazing. Thank you for making your videos 🥰
Excellent snapshot. Keep on & best wishes from Cancun! CM.
I love your channel and the insightful videos you share. X
Lovely explanations. Happy journeys to you!
my personal favorite is the fool ;)
Your perspective on the hanged man was fresh to me! How fitting with its deeper meaning 😆👌🏻
I'm loving your channel, I took a deep dive into Jung and one of the videos recommended you. I didn't expect to be watching a video about tarot, all your other Jung content has been spot on so I gave it a go. I now understand and appreciate tarot! I'm even considering getting myself a deck, what have you done to me? Seriously tho, great work, great content, and I'll be sharing your work, thank you
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I enjoyed this explanation, thank you 🕊
Thank you for explaining
My foolishness is a taker of risks, the sun king ruler is an optimistic warrior, a quiver of swords represents tools matching the endeavors as experienced craftsmanship or achievements. It’s wonderful to receive certain guidances with love, 🙏
Great work 👏
That was great
Best explanation .....Love from India ❤
Thank you so much! ❤ I loved your interpretations. I have been addicted to tarot at one point and used it in a way that produced negative results in my mind (anxiety). Since then, I just stopped using it and I refused to read for people. I continued watching tarot videos on youtube though. Your way of interpreting the cards and explaining has showed me for the first time a positive side to them (or maybe I have changed...) and that I shouldn't fear what comes out. I personally would highly enjoy a video of you explaining all the cards. Would you be interested in doing one? I also saw a comment where you recommended some resources so I will search for them. 🤗🤗🤗 Keep it up ! ❤
I didn't know the major arcana were some sort of monomyth, pretty neat
Thanks you have very good videos
It should be criminal to be that beautiful and articulate at the same time. JS..

You are wonderful ,love that you say the Tarot can be used for psychological reasons not just woo woo ones.
Thank you for this video. It's so funny you'd liken the tarot to the inkblot test, because this is the same conclusion I reached just yesterday and I started searching for other people who might have thought the same.
What I'm stuck on however, is the psychology of using this for other people. As I see it, The tarot or the inkblot give an insight into the reader's own mind, not the client; so how could one think that what they're seeing is information about someone else? Thanks in advance
Loved this! I just got the Robert Wang Jungian Tarot deck. Have you heard of it?
I love you
Emerald, do you ever use the Tarot de Marseille? I wonder what is your analysis of the symbols in that specific tarot style.
Pls enable subtitles c:
And props to Pamela Colman Smith😉
I heard that the tarot major arcana of 22 cards represent the 22 archetypes of the human personality structure.
Where can I read about it? About the archetypes in the cards?
The Fool = The Emperor= Mars the warrior and dragon slayer. The Hanged Man = Odin searching for more Knowledge
The Fool = Iggy
The Emperor = Hol Horse
The Hanged Man = J. Giel
What was the name of the myth book you mentioned?
What is the best resource to learning the symbolism of each card?
I've learned mostly from various videos. But for the Major Arcana, I highly recommend Robert Bonomo. He's in my suggested channels, and I've talked with him a few times over email. But he has a series called "The 21 Faces of God" and he approaches the Tarot from an archetypal perspective. There was also a video that was helpful for me titled something like 'Learn all 78 Tarot Card meanings in 2 hours'. Books-wise, I recommend "The Ultimate Guide to Tarot" by Liz Dean. It has all the card meanings. But more importantly, the first part of the book teaches you about all the different systems within the deck (suits, elements, colors, numbers, astrological correlations, etc.) So, that would be a good one to check out. Also, just learning the over-arching systems of the deck is really the most helpful as opposed to just memorizing each card individually. Do both. But the system spotting helps you notice overarching patterns and relationships between the cards in the reading.
Can you please tell me what the name of the deck , and where can i buy one. One exactly like yours. THX
Yes. It's the Rider Waite deck. It's the one that's most widely used.

I wonder in what ways the 10 of cups characterizes the collective unconscious?
Interesting thought. I think perhaps that the rainbow can represent something that's in the sky (mind/psyche) and it is there for everyone to behold. And it is also home to emotions... specifically focusing toward the beautiful and transcendent and divine emotions. And the idyllic family scene below suggests perhaps that an awareness and keeping an eye on the rainbow of the collective unconscious leads into a more harmonious home life where everyone has their needs med. So, it's perhaps a bit of a foil to generational trauma that creeps through most everyone's family tree. And as to say, 'look skyward to the unconscious mind to find your connection to healing and the divine in the heavens.' That's my take anyway. But that's an interesting frame for the card that I haven't yet explored. So, thank you for that framing! It's made some bells go off, for sure! :)

I take you didn't watch the video all the way through. I never claimed to be psychic.

@@TheDiamondNet Haha i actually Don't know her name. But What I know is ,she works for publicAgent Adult film industry...& in videos she's Called "Redly" ...
I will say Just Leave the curiosity becuase i don't want you go to a Adult site...!😉😇
Calling something an archetype does not make it an archetype. Tarot card pictures are just unexceptional pictures that are used to conduct divinations. For a particular picture to be an archetype, it would have to appear to people in dreams from time to time, or be used in folk tales sometimes, or be used as motifs in old poems, or to appear spontaneously in pictorial art, etc. None of the pictures in the Rider deck qualify as archetypes. They are just pictures that can be used to divine.
You seem genuine but do you think content like yours enables grifters?
I wouldn't say so... no more than anything else. I'm teaching a skill in this video. And just like any other skill can be used in positive and negative ways.
Do you think the works and understanding of Carl Jung has a productive place in today's society, especially as the level of trauma experienced has changed so much since his time.
I personally believe it is useful but needs updating and therefore is useless without hands on experience of today's experiences and how the mind now deals with trauma compaired to Jung's time.
I also believe tarot has no place because it's a delusional concept, along with other new age tools.
I found those that use tarot cards do so because they lack faith in there own intuitive nature and connection to self.
Tarot cards are like pages of a book you can shuffle, or movie stills you can reorder. I guess books, plays and movies are also delusional, but just like tarot, teach and entertain, so are just as valid? I think they remind us of archetypes too, just more dressed up. Like Joker?
In other words, I wonder if Tarot might be valid as long as humans use story.
Archetypes, same. In what way do you feel they might be updated? (would be interesting to hear)
Stated watching your videos. I was liking them until now. This is just New Age crap again.
Tarot is very useful for inner work. Don’t knock it until you try it. Closed mindedness is no virtue.
Fix your camera
Ronny Bøe Waw!! Is this all that you could see in this, a “malfunctioning camera?! Next time you might want to try this: “I liked/didn’t like your video, but I would also suggest that adjusting your camera might improve it considerably”
