Howard Ashman - Poor Unfortunate Souls (Complete Version)

for fun, i decided to combine both of howard ashman's (lyrcist for the little mermaid) demos of poor unfortunate souls into one, since the first one includes the 2nd deleted chorus, and the second demo includes the spell at the end where ariel loses her voice. i then edited it to the storyboards from the november 1987 workprint, and added a couple even older storyboards with an older design of ursula!

Howard Ashman was a genius. I saw an interview with Jodi Benson once where she said “everything was Howard. I took it all from him. “ this sounds just like the way it sounds in the fillm. Like it was written this way. Because he wrote it. And he wrote it that way. It’s just amazing. So much passion.

After reading the original Andersen's tale, it's just so disturbing to think one can snatch your voice just like that and make you mute unlike the original tale where the witch just cut her tongue out. It's scary.
Disney tried to tone it down, but made it appear scaries.
