If this movie came out after 2016 when anime and weab culture was actually more predominant it would have actually popped off and not flopped like it did because 2008 critics had worse taste than todays game journalists.
Sure i can see some cheesy and corny scenes in the movie, its not perfect, but it didnt deserve half the shit it was thrown at back in the day and much less the title of one of the worse live actions of film history.
Now it as more of a cult status in a way

This is how you do a live action anime, you don't try to make it realistic and bring it to our reality you actually bring the anime into the real world

Fantastic. Wish we had a series of Speed Racer films, but they pretty much did everything I could ask for in one stunningly beautiful movie.
Agree, this was the perfect manga/anime based live action movie. Anything done today, would not measure up and probably be woke trash compared to it

I honestly would have preferred a speed racer movie series compared to fast and furious since the shit they are doing with those movies are getting to speed racers level of crazy in terms of car stunts and gadgets so imagine if we had a movie series about people doing crazy shit on a fast car compared to a realistic movie series about fast cars becoming less realistic there will be less complaints
Yeah it's definitely not for people with epilepsy, very colorful and flashy especially in the end scenes in the Grand Prix. This Movie gave me so many cool ideas for GTA races.

All about Casa Cristo was fire, this movie deserves more credit. One of the few live action manga-anime that is actually really well done

An anime adaptation done right. Keeping the over the top spectacle of the races intact while the character's motives and interactions grounded.
The memories of this movie make me tear up a bit. The memories of me sitting down with my whole family to watch this movie are some of the few memories I will cherish until the end of time. Thanks for making this video as a little nostalgia trip for a lot of people who watched this.
Same it's one of the last movies me and my father seen before his passing this and zohan. So they both hold a special place in my heart. This one especially cause my dad told me about speed racer waaaay back in the day when he used to watch it.

Wish this movie had a better success at the box office. Still boggles the mind why it failed.
Most critics never watched an old classic anime. The style, theme and editing was completely lost on them, especially not knowing how goofy and corny the show is.

The nostalgia hits different
I can't explain how much this movie speaks to me.... I resonate so deeply. It really speaks of a journey of finding one's purpose in life, transcending limits including politics, corruption, and even one's own ego.... and creating something truly great. That last race brings me CHILLS every time, especially the explosion and the red and white tunnel. Truly remarkable.

I feel like this movie was playing with concepts that were ahead of its time.
Underrated CGI, would love to see more animations use this style to envision it. It catches the surreal yet makes it the cartoon. I do some slight art and design and it’s right in the park dude.

Yo tenía el CD de meteoro y tenía también DVD en donde la podía ver las veces que quisiera a mis 8 años de edad. Ahora las cosas cambiaron, todo se encuentra por plataforma streaming y lo bueno es que está en HBO MAX y ya la he visto dos veces para recordar mi infancia :")

went to see speed racer in the cinemas and it brought back memories from when I was little kid and I loved the movie and the tv series
thought I would elaborate I grew up in when speed racer was still tv series in the 90's that's why liked this video
for a moment I imagined an initial d crossover with acceleracers, because speed racer that I remember was a very simple one, even though this is one of the best anime adaptations, the most surprising thing is to be hollywood, let's face it, the directors came from matrix

It's been a LOOONG dang time since I first heard this and after having JUST watched the film again after discovering RUclips had the film free to watch just now, not only did it make it clear how much THAT film still holds up in so many ways, but it reminded me of how much of an absolute BANGER this song is more than ever! 🤩
