I love how people all talk about how its done. Yes there is no secret to how these card tricks are done. Just like you know how a pilot flies a plane. The art is the ability to perform the techniques needed to make the trick look so easy and magical. That takes years of practice to perform it at Davids level.
Of course there are secrets to it you dummy. That doesn't mean NOBODY ELSE ON EARTH is privy to those secrets. But they are secrets by definition. Execution is only part of it.
I was watching David one night, on some late night talk show, or some other show, and he said the folks at home could play along with his card trick. He asked a person, from the audience to think of a card, memorize it, and then to shuffle the deck. (at home, I thought of the 10 of hearts), after shuffling the cards, the person handed David back the deck of cards. He was talking this entire time. He spread all the cards out on a table, then asked the person to reach into their shirt pocket, take out the card, and show everyone what it was. It was the 10 of hearts! I still, to this day, do not know how he did that card trick! Even I was duped at home!
TotalExcessGaming yeah that fruit loops guy was pretty invasive on the trick so david had to stop him and make up something like "that's the move" so he wouldn't pick him the top card. But yeah, he has the smoothest double lift.

@HailHorns666 the froot loops one is acctuall really easy... all you have to do is when they are looking at their card... hold a pinky break (bigger than usuall) under the top card and slide their card in under the top card but since the top card is now slanted upwards you are making the illusion that their card is sliding into the middle of the deck.. then do a double lift and pick up their card and the top card... then (since you are holding 2 cards) slide the top card into the middle
Guys, it's static state camera editing. The people are all in on it. They film it in two parts and splice it in the middle so it looks seamless. A card can't jump to a back pocket. Matter cannot teleport in space. Even lightwaves cannot do this.

Well that's the most important thing for magician. The magician controls the show but you want to make the audience THINK they're in control when they're not.
You can see how he does the last tricks to the gang if you pay attention and think without looking it up, but his consistency to do it so seamlessly is world class
2. when he pushes the card forward, he drops a card on top of his, so the card that goes into the second half of the deck is an indifferent one, and his stays on top 3. last one is a double lift and he bends two cards...the indifferent one he puts in the middle, leaving his card on top which he simply releases to create the illusion of it jumping to the top

I remember as a kid I was astonished by his ambitious card routine, (I didn’t know that’s what it was called then) I remember thinking that everything looked clean and thinking that it was absolutely impossible. I used to say to myself I can’t see him taking any cards out and putting it on top! Now I now how he does every move and sometimes perform it myself but it’s still enjoyable to see

For example on the trick with the grandmas, he had her sign a card, placed it in between two club cards (forgot the number). He double lifts showing her card, places it back, then gives her the top card which is a club. Now the card order is her card and another copy of the clubs card. He then double lifts again showing the club card, and then does a hand trick switching the two cards in a smooth and fast manner to give the jump effect, and shows her card. Then once she turns over her card it'll be a club.
The last trick he did, he bended 2 cards and then put the fruity loops one on top of the deck really fast and the second bended card in the middle of the deck. He has very good sleight of hand skills its amazing.

For the second trick with the old ladies, he had 2 four of clubs, he made the lady put the card ( four of clubs in a sandwich position so nobody could see it was the double, he did a freaking boss double lift, a flick which made it turn around revealing the card that was the 3. Fantastic trick.
He swiped the quarter under his sleeve while moving his hands over the quarter, when he lifts his hands up to show them he's allowing the quarter to go deeper down his sleeve so it doesn't fall out, and he never lets his arms go limp afterwards
These are all great, and props to David for taking street magic back to its roots, but since I've seen some great magicians like Copperfield, Wonder etc... you realise his patter needs some serious work.
All these years later and I finally realized this was staged. Blaine sat down waaaay to quick in that chair next to the blonde woman for somebody that was just walking up. Rookie mistake. Blaine is way smoother these days with his timing.
Once you figure out David's card tricks, they're pretty simple. Most are just two types of tricks - Pulling/planting two cards or using prepared cards in different variations of the same trick. What David is exceptional at is sleight of hands.
Nate Miller I don't think the camera man did that, it would be so hard for him and its almost impossible that people don't see him while he was putting the card in the back pocket so i think david put it in be4 the trick or they're just acting. It's not so hard to make that trick but the problem is that's impossible to put the card in the back pocket without being seen.

These are all great, and props to David for taking street magic back to its roots, but since I've seen some great magicians like Copperfield, Wonder etc... you realise his patter needs some serious work.

All these years later and I finally realized this was staged. Blaine sat down waaaay to quick in that chair next to the blonde woman for somebody that was just walking up. Rookie mistake. Blaine is way smoother these days with his timing.

Once you figure out David's card tricks, they're pretty simple. Most are just two types of tricks - Pulling/planting two cards or using prepared cards in different variations of the same trick.
What David is exceptional at is sleight of hands.
That's literally what magicians do tho. Magic obviously isn't real, it's deception.

Nate Miller I don't think the camera man did that, it would be so hard for him and its almost impossible that people don't see him while he was putting the card in the back pocket so i think david put it in be4 the trick or they're just acting. It's not so hard to make that trick but the problem is that's impossible to put the card in the back pocket without being seen.
Damian Alcalay Lopez Its not impossible it just misdirection now i agree in this situation that it was set up but there are other times where when you give someone a hug you slide in the back pocket and they wont notice but you must be very good at it or youll get slapped haha
I agree with you man, there are many situations in which you can do it, but in this video is just impossible.
