In my opinion, this channel - although being fairly new - is going into depths of the game in a way that separates it from other guides/tech tutorial. I think because you focus on one key aspect at a time, and it enables you to get the point of your videos across with such ease! All I'm saying is you are really appreciated.
great video as always!- you should consider doing series on this kind of stuff for advanced players that goes in depth with tips and advice. I love that you cover topics like these nobody else does.
I was afraid you'd forget to mention whiffing an aerial in front of people's face, especially with as low landing lag as Ultimate has, can be a very good bait. So happy you did! Great video, super simple yet informative.
The intentional whiffs should definitely be calculated to bait certain actions out of your opponents. Low end lag moves are really awesome for this especially if you can link them immediately into a low start up lag move. A common example in smash 4 is an opponent in the air trying to land with an air dodge against Mario and they expect an up smash from Mario. At that point you usually see the air dodge punished with another Mario up smash since the move is so fast.
For another video can you do how to improve spacing? I've been told many times to make sure I'm hitting, but it's the mechanics of microspacing my attacks that troubles me.
To start getting rid of the problem, don’t ever preemptively throw moves out expecting your opponent to get hit. Usually, you would want to try and read your opponent and use a move expecting them to jump or run into it etc., but just stop doing that completely for now. Only attack when you are almost certain it will at least hit their shield. Spend a lot of time doing this, and even if you miss out on hits because you aren’t reading your opponent, keep doing it. Eventually you will learn the range of your moves and have a solid understanding of baiting and punishing your opponent. Obviously don’t just use the same exact approach every time, for example don’t just short hop fair into their shield all game, but when you do use whatever move, make sure it won’t whiff. You will probably whiff anyways because your opponent will try to bait you and dash dance, but just keep working on it. Start getting better at reading your opponents after you get good at hitting every attack and eventually you should get better.
Unless you are whiffing a move on purpose to bait a punish knowing that they cant punish you so you can “punish their punish” then yeah mindlessly whiffing attack is generally bad
Unless it's smash attacks. To which someone can immediately get away. I don't get how even the slowest of smash attacks means they're not super open to attacks.
ÐαηΐεŁ328 DT Yeah it’s kinda weird. But that’s exactly what I mean. As a Wolf player I will frequently use Fsmash which has close to no lag at all and have them try to punish me. Then I’ll run back and Ftilt or something
I think whiffs can be prevented if we know what our opponent would do, for example lets say they dash dance and make you throw out an aerial so that you miss and get punished. Maybe a guide for learning player's habits in the middle of a match would be interesting to see ;)
This is bad advice. Don't tell people this is bad and to never do it. You even gave an argument for it at the end, that being that it can be good pressure. This is essentially the same thing as telling someone to not spam moves because it breeds bad habits. That is also bad advice. What you should be suggesting is that people should be spamming and whiffing *better*.
This all renders useless, because!!! You’re forced to play with your brother items mode on med. I can never play no items offline. Long story, so don’t ask.

Instructions unclear, now use 2 moves per entire match.
comment unfunny now to not laugh
I do this mindlessly alot during autopliot, especially in elite

0:49 you okay Lucina?
Sometimes you can use whiffing intentionally as a way to condition your opponent to shield or move somewhere you want them to go
Pretty much any smash attack in this game is safe.
this can be used for most platform fighter and yes it includes melee and the other smash games
This is channel is pure digital gold.
So I’m not actually playing neutral?
Not
Alpharad:you are just spamming forward smash
Jho: nah i'm playing neutral
Anyone: you are just spamming Nair
Cloud: nah i'm playing neutral
I mean if you do it to the point where your opponent doesn't even have to move anywhere to punish you then yeah you're not doing something correctly.
Loving this series!
Also remember to MIX UP TIMINGS
Just mind that the Parry hitbox is always the same size as full shield, if you're only aiming for shield.
Mario: B-air

Fox: *Literally just standing there*
I’m really glad I was able to notice and get help at least lmfao
Anyone think he sounds like Jean Havoc from FMA?
You say hitting shield is completely better than whiffing yet hitting shield stales moves now
I didn't know this. Thanks man
whiffing isnt always bad, like when our opponent tries to counter but whiff a move to bait them so you can follow up with a grab.
A lot of people do that its annoying and doesnt work well
Good video, but I thought it'll go into what to do if you suck at whiff punishing.
Oh thanks I think I just became a top tier. Who knew that was the problem
...OH FUCK I’M AN IDIOT. WHY DO I DO THIS
Good ol lagless Mario lol

noob Shadi432 I think he did a spacing video in the past already.
noob Shadi432 He did a video called ZeRo Spacing, Learn to Space Like a Top Player.
This is one of my problems and I'm already aware of that. BUT HOW DO I GET RID OF IT.

Do you guys still host tournaments?
Any tips on how to avoid it?

He literally says those exact words in the video

It's similar to tekken to me where it looks safe but it actually isn't lol
I just unsubscribed, just to subscribe again! XD... This video was THAT good AND informative!

Another reason is your attacks get weaker everytime you use them
>Hit not use I believe.
This all renders useless, because!!!

Good video but whiffing is just an attack that misses. What you’re describing doesn’t have a name. It’s just throwing out moves in neutral.
