  • Eloping to Iceland has become wildly popular but still remains a once in a lifetime opportunity, one that every couple should consider if they are planning to elope. As a top elopement destination in the world, when it comes to epic elopements, the land of ice and fire really proves to be the ideal backdrop for a truly magnificent day where the sole focus is on the couple.
Corinna and Peter were planning to visit Iceland at the start of 2020 but due to the pandemic, they weren't able to travel so they decided to wait and go after things had settled down. Initially their trip to Iceland was only meant to be a holiday but they later decided that they also wanted to get married in Iceland. Since they both were not for the idea of having a huge wedding, eloping to Iceland was the perfect opportunity for them as they were able to have a day which was all about them as a couple rather than just having a party.
Whilst the weather was ever-changing, on this particular day it felt like we lived through the four seasons. The day started with heavy winds followed by heavy rain which then turned to snow. But I must say the day couldn't have ended better with the sun and a beautiful sunset to follow.
Just because the weather isn't ideal, it doesn't mean you can't go ahead and have the most spectacular day because rest assured, Corinna and Peter, were thrilled and couldn't have had a better day as they said to us after:
"We couldn't think of better people to go on through this adventure together, we can't thank you for ye hard work you put into our wedding day and the care you showed towards us" - Corinna + Peter
We kicked off the day with preparations at Hótel Kría, which is located in a village called Vik near Reynisfjara. As we arrived we were met with bucket loads of rain but that didn't stop anything. The ceremony went ahead with the beautiful backdrop of an epic Icelandic waterfall located on private land. This meant no other visitors were around so we had the whole location to ourselves and it couldn't get anymore intimate for Corinna and Peter.
Once the ceremony was complete we drove down to Reynisfjara to the famous Black Sand beach. The Black Sand beach is a world-famous spot found on the South coast of Iceland. With enormous basalt columns, roaring Atlantic waves and stunning panoramas, this beach is definitely the ideal spot for a couple shoot. We stayed at the beach until after sunset as we captured some of the most exquisite shots especially during golden hour.
