Hey guys, thanks so much for watching! This episode was a ton of fun to make, and is contending for my favorite ExLog yet...thanks to all my patrons, you rock! Let me know what you all think of this episode!
Dude I’m so happy I came across your channel... it takes a really good creator to put this much effort into making a quality video, and you seem like a really genuine guy too. Thanks!
As someone who actually can't walk, I appreciate your message about taking us along. There are so many places I'd love to see but for one reason or another can't and I love being able to have some experiences like this.
Was coming to say this exact thing - with minimized ability to walk great distances, stand for prolonged periods or climb stairs, these videos give me an adventure I'd otherwise miss. Thank you Sal

Now I get to go exploring through urban exploring videos on youtube. Thank you for mentioning people like me!!!! We do exist! You are one of my favorite explorers. I LOVE the history you give
Because it was built into a hillside the top of the east stands was at street level and there was an entrance there off Washington Blvd, with sidewalk, so the stadium and events were easily wheelchair accessible. And the upper promenade went all the way around to the other side as well.
I was there the last game. I remember where I was sitting. The overtime. The scoreboard. The parachute. It was a great game. I got a shirt from that night. Sure miss the small town feel of this place. Will watch again to reminisce. Thanks for sharing with us.
Being partially disabled I really appreciate the work and dedication you put into these videos and taking myself and many , many more of us to places that we'd never see . Keep up the great work and stay safe out there .

Hey Sal. This was a different spin from the norm but totally great info. I love the inclusion of the Rolling Acres Mall !!! Keep up the great work man!!!
Sal, you touched my heart. At 7:27 you spoke about how you do the walking for those who can't. I have a disability that makes it hard for me to walk on solid ground, never mind areas like The Rubber Bowl. I enjoy my hobby of Urbex/urban history through videos like yours. Thanks from an Ohio (Columbus) resident. ❤😁
I am from Akron,Ohio and grew up watching all of this history happen. I met the actor who played Colonel Hogan on the show Hogan's hero's Bob Crane when I was a young man and in the boy scouts at the time. I got to talk with him for long time just him and I before he was recognized and swamped by others at the Downs. He was not long after murdered in his sleep by someone. It was never solved. Our troop wss part of the parade and flag raising ceremonies for the SoapBox Derby championship that held for many years at the Downs. I also worked on what is now consider a cult classic zombie movie called the Dead Next door we shot a huge action sequence there and in the downtown area near the old library. I wasn't fortunate enough to get tickets to ant of the concerts held there, but we were able to get close enough to enjoy the music of some of our favorite bands. It's to bad it could not be saved that would have been awesome if they could have. Thanks for look at old place brought some good memories for me.
Interesting...both degrees are from UAkron, dad just retired from Lockheed (see Goodyear Aerospace blimp hangar shot) as they were closing it down, and the family used to shop at Rolling Acres’ JCP Outlet. Coupled with the gray and cold weather I’m quickly reminded of why I left after grad school and never looked back.

Sal: I gotta admit that I wasn't too pleased when I saw that you weren't "doing" a mall in this video, but I absolutely loved EVERYTHING about this'n! The Agent Double-O "commercial" almost made my missus pee her pants, she was laughing so hard! (MY fave is STILL the Lum's commercial, with Uncle Milty, though...)Sadly, it's the little stadia such as this one that are fast becoming things of the past. Here in San Diego, we used to have a tiny stadium in Balboa Park, and that's where the [rotten, dirt-bag, city-deserting, snot-nosed, Lords of No Rings, total WASTE of CARBON] Chargers used to play until "The Q," AKA Qualcomm Stadium, was built, back in the late 1960s. But in that case, the city really came through, as Balboa Stadium ultimately became the home field for San Diego High School, which was adjacent to the park nearby. Sadly, not every stadium can be repurposed like that, but it's good to know that Akron really tried to make things right.Oh, and I LOVED seeing the excellent drone-inside footage of Rolling Acres Mall. Silly me, I was hoping-against-hope that it could have somehow been preserved by some rich guy with more money than sense; you know, like the kind of rich dude I'D BE if I had a few billion in the bank...! ***SIGH*** GREAT JOB, Sal!

Hi sal, really enjoyed this vlog. To me it's about the history and the glory days of the places you visit, doesn't matter if it's a mall, sports arena or even a school. When watching, I'm thinking of the many people who used to frequent the buildings for their jobs or for pleasure and where they are now. As for the vlog, your research and detail is fantastic. 👍

Hey Sal, big fan of your work. It’s funny you mention the accessibility of the stadium and doing the videos partly for those unable. I think about that a lot as I watch you and Adam the Woo’s travel and mall vids. I’ll occasionally have gout flare ups and combined with some back problems can make exploring or hiking much more effort than for most people. So it’s good to watch these videos. Much appreciated.
You create it and we will watch it. It doesn't have to be a dead mall every time. I once watch a video of yours about a strange insect on your porch. 😁👍

Thanks. I saw Dylan/Petty with the Dead in 1986. Man, it was ready for the wrecking ball then. Sorry it took almost forty years to finish what nature started.
Nice video. I've been to Akron many times and wish I'd known it was there. I've been to the new on-campus stadium and it's nice but generic. The Rubber Bowl, even in it's demise, still appeared to have some charm. Canal Park in downtown Akron, the home of the double A Rubber Ducks, is a must see minor league ballpark. I still find it stunning to see shopping malls abandoned and disintegrating. They were so popular not all that long ago and in my opinion, still should be.

Just an update as of August 2021, the city of Akron will be demolishing the top of the remaining structure which includes the entry gate off George Washington Blvd and then the remaining structure will be filled in and topped over with dirt so it serves a second life as a bearing wall for the road. They plan to create a big hill out of the structure.
I was hoping when the bands were mentioned they Devo would be included. Akron, Ohio. ❤️. 😉. Sharing this video, as it’s so very good. Watched it more than once.
Sal I’m a huge football fan and had no idea the Rubber Bowl was in such disarray. Thanks for documenting the end of its life. I wish I could have visited before it was demolished!
Yo... that footage of Maynard wasnt from Ozzfest '98 at the Rubberbowl... I was there...they played during the day time and he actually brought his mother up on stage, as she was still living in Ravenna...also, Black Sabbath did not headline or even play..it was Ozzy's solo band...
@@sal it's all good man! Shit happens. I grew up in that neighborhood. Was there for Monsters of Rock as well. Sucks that more big concerts couldnt have been there... I guess the neighbors didnt appreciate the noise or the riffraff! Not to mention the lack of actual parking. You'd have to park on a side street and walk. If I remember correctly..the only way Ozzfest got approved was on the condition that no alcohol be sold. It was a dry show...and 90°+ heat that day. My dad was there for alot of the big concerts in the 70's...I think even getting tear gassed when a Rolling Stones show got out of hand in '72! Your videos are great man! 👍
The Rubber Bowl was a dump... when I was there in 1986 for a Grateful Dead concert with Tom Petty/Bob Dylan. It hadn’t imported when I sat Van Halen / Scorpions / Metallica / Dokken / Kingdom Come on night one of two in 1988. I see it’s still a dump but also a stadium of an era gone by. If only you guys could have done a video at Cleveland Stadium. It had a great deal of history there and like the Rubber Bowl was just left to decay while still being used as a stadium. While the wrecking balls did their thing the place (which had wooden seats) the stadium caught on fire (yes a literal dumpster fire). Another place I saw the Grateful Dead was JFK stadium which was condemned a few days later. Another dump that had wooden seats. So when you watch Live Aid remember that the stadium was closed because huge chunks of the concrete was falling on people. Love your work.
\,,/'9'\,,/ nice addition to the series! Great job on this one, been waiting since you said you were going here!!!!! \,,/'9'\,,/ Love the Malls you have covered and great stuff but this is a nice change and you could branch out into so many other abandoned places like hotels, sanitariums, hospitals, towns, theme parks and so much more... Sal I’m a huge football fan and had no idea the Rubber Bowl was in such disarray. Thanks for documenting the end of its life. I wish I could have visited before it was demolished!
Ugh the vandalism, I can't state enough how much I hate graffiti and destructive people. Nicely done man.
That was great Sal!
Thanks Mike!
By the way, I love the touch of the slide film. Classic stuff.
I think that's Ben Roethlisberger @ 9:38 . He played 1 game at the Rubber Bowl
BOSS HOGG LOU That’s him. Chad Pennington played there as well when he was at Marshall. Same for Brandon Marshall when he was at UCF.
Great vid. Keep them coming Mall or not.
Sal, you are very creative and your vids are well edited and informative. Hope you get mad subs. Weng Weng rules!
Thanks so much!!!
Great video!!
Yo... that footage of Maynard wasnt from Ozzfest '98 at the Rubberbowl... I was there...they played during the day time and he actually brought his mother up on stage, as she was still living in Ravenna...also, Black Sabbath did not headline or even play..it was Ozzy's solo band...
My bad.
Great Video 👍🏻
Thank you!!
I remember going there in the 50's when they were racing Midgets & stockcars ..
Seen so many different exploration channels but the way your stuff is edited, researched, videoed and put together is brilliant!!! \,,/'9'\,,/
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I wish more people thought the same! Please share my work out to get the word spread, and I can do more like this!!!
