So glad that somebody else finally said it. I remember the "comedy skit" they did when she hosted/performed the song for one of the Soul Train Awards. I didn't understand why no one seemed to get that Tyrone was the one who was financially self-sufficient. I mean, he could have got a truck to come get his bum friend at any time? *lol*

Seeing this interview, it hit me how much Erykah Badu changed my life. I was in high school when Baduizm came out. Her artistic expression is unlike anything I know.

I saw Erykah Badu in Tel Aviv. The arena was huge and intimate at the same time. She was amazing! She IS a performance artist, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to see her in person. I believe her when she says her best is still to come. 💝

I’ve seen her live twice and she does put on a hell of a show. The songs are decades old, but the way she performs them makes them sound fresh, and she’s charismatic, and quite frankly really funny.
She's amazing live. The intro she does "ME" is always different.
Most are her own compositions lyrics and music.
She is definitely an icon,as well as a DIVA OF HER STYLE.
Just saw her in ATL!!!! She is everything you said and more!!! And even my mom, who has VERY high standards, PRAISED her backing band. They were amazing too.

I love her debut record---she sounded like an updated version of Billie Holiday back in the day. I loved that song "Tyrone" because it made me laugh at the time--it's a really good song, too. I plan to get a little more of her music, too. Nice to see she's still just as weird and wonderful and kinds spaced out as usual. Would be cool to hear if she's putting out some new stuff.

Y’all my Dad took my 2 sisters and I to our first concert and it was Erykah Badu. We were 5, 8 and 13. It’s a core memory for so many different reasons and I’m so thankful for that experience. I love this lady and the genre. ❤❤❤❤

I remember walking down the street in Dallas and walking up on a free concert she was doing. Miss Badu really has a giving spirit and her music and performances are always on point. She’s so down to earth. I’m so glad to see these two greats on the same stage.

Since social media wasn’t a big thing at that time, I guess I wrote with such passion for them, they got excited and asked me if I wanted to do a listing party for Brenda Russell. I like Brenda Russell but I wasn’t energized by her like I was Jill Scott. But Erykah Badu was the first person that I had heard with that type of sound and later found out that Jill was the one that did the writing for her🥰

We were on vacation and I ran to the the record store to buy it!! Me & my friends played Appletree on repeat!! She is one of the only artists were you can play her albums from start to finish on repeat!
