    We compare the current highest pool in London - the Sky Pool at Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard with the new plans of Infinity London. This will be the first 360 degrees infinity pool in the world with an amazing entrance through the bottom of the pool floor. We also compare these two pools with the current highest indoor and outdoor pools in the world - located in Hong Kong and Dubai.

    how can you have a pool that high up and not have wind guards? i've been on rooftop pools. definitely not as high up as the the shard... but still... it's windy. the staircase thing is awesome, and i'm sure this thing is going to be 3 times more structurally sound than it technically needs to be, just can't believe the final product will look anything like the concept image.

    • @mcearl8073
      @mcearl8073 4 года назад +7

      Ela Guarino I cant imagine it will look like that either. In addition to the wind there’s just no way in hell they’d be able to only have a wall that low on the edge of a building that anyone could easily hop over. There’s gotta be more to this that’s left off to look better, like his concept cars don’t have mirrors and other safety stuff.

  • @jenniferp1917
    @jenniferp1917 4 года назад +24

    Okay, so I get how the cylinder with the staircase comes up and then is emptied of water. But, the walls of the cylinder would have to be as high or slightly higher than the depth of the water. So to get to the staircase in the cylinder, you'd have to climb up over the edge of the cylinder's wall (similar to pulling yourself up out of a regular on-land in-ground pool by climbing out the side.) I know you wouldn't be right at the edge of the infinity pool itself while doing this, but at that height, to pull yourself up above the water level to get into the cylinder, would be an extra added level of scary.

    • @mcearl8073
      @mcearl8073 4 года назад

      Jennifer P I don’t think you’d raise up, you step in the center and then the walls go up around you and then the water gets pumped out

      @@mcearl8073 Okay, that makes more sense, thanks.

    • @mcearl8073
      @mcearl8073 4 года назад

      Jennifer P Sure. It really sounds kind of cool until you think about it and it kind of sounds awful in reality. You can’t have your towel or anything near by, you can’t just sit outside the pool while your kids or family are swimming, if you need to get out you have to ask someone to start the stair process, that someone presumably is just standing in water all day turning to a prune and probably freezing. The wind has to be pretty strong up there and London isn’t exactly known to be warm and if the stairs ever malfunction you’re stuck on the roof, in water. I also don’t see how it’s not just dangerous to have a pool with an edge like that that someone could easily climb over, I’m sure there’s more to it than is shown here though so maybe the design addressed some of these issues

      almost 2 billion people have gained access to basic drinking water services in the last two decades or so, it's not like we aren't going to extensive measures to help this problem. it's not an issue of quantity of water, its an issue of resources as it's very expensive and problematic to create properly working systems to help others in need of safe drinking water. infinity pools and the like are only a fraction of the issue, and the water is recycled back into the pool yknow?

      No, have you watched the entire video? If not, jump to 3.17 where we mention the 118 floor pool at Ritz Carlton in Hong Kong as the current highest pool in the world

    Pretty unlikely. First of all, the pool has no entrance 😂 second, the building is obstructing the view of st pauls and therefore not allowed to be build.

    • @Allthegoodies
      @Allthegoodies  3 года назад

      The entrance is described in the video ..... If they make it work is another question

    Yeah fuck no, if the airlock malfunctions you are in serious problem. And knowing the quality British engineering it will malfunction almost instantly.

    besides that it's not going to happen ... I can only imagine spending 5 hours queueing up for a 10 minute swim in a pigeon crap infested claustrophobic, health and safety ridiculousness 1-metre deep waste of time in London .. where you literally never feel like swimming anyway.

      Trusss it’s gonna end up a bird bath for the pigeons 🤣

    I can see it now. OK, I'm done, bring up the spiral staircase please? Uhh, one sec.
    OK, it should work now. OK, wait a moment ... we will have it repaired soon, please be patient.
    So how the fuck do you get people out of the pool when there is a mechanical malfunction?

    Everything about this pool is dumb and poorly thought out. No accounting for near hurricane forced winds at such a height. Rising casson staircases do malfunction and leak. It would be better to have a tiny penthouse island staircase.
