Hey nice to see someone from my neck of the woods, I'm from Hamburg NY area and ride down in PA also, Majestic trails. I mainly ride 07 TRX400EX but have bought my son the 2020 SSR300s at Sick Brothers, at the time they were the only one that had anything in stock. Have replaced the carb with Nibbi, and CDI box from Nibbi, what a difference, but I felt that this engine had usable low end so I went up to 14T front gearing it to 3.50 keeping the R,s down and getting it into higher gear. I prefer to use less gas and more clutch. Also rapped whole bike from darksidestudios ,it's called Ruckus and it looks like graffitie, looks trick. That bike is the best bang for your buck hands down and my son is loving it. Also when I rapped the bike a nut cert came free in the tank and SSR replaced the tank for free, telling me that they stand behind their bikes ,nice. These China made bike's rock. Also added 5 LED headlamp ,china made of course. Deep and steep, ride it like you stole it, Mark.
Hmmmm, I have the same bike now for about 6 months and it starts up every time, we ride early morning in AZ due to heat obviously, and I have no problems with starting. The issue i had was the Quick throttle, I replaced that with a single cable honda style throttle tube, and it is actually more comfortable to trail ride with that set up but all in all they are good bikes I keep up with the 450's that the rest of my family has. Awesome Vid!
Interesting issue, with the throttle, noted. That double-cable set up is more of a pro set up, but I can see by your writing that it might tend to be a bit twitchy, though you didn't state what the 'issue' actually was. Yours is a 2021 if I have it right, with the pumper carb. Does this bring the front wheel up at will, without having to near whiskey-throttle it?
@@bikersoncall the quick throttle was the issue, being that it was giving waaay to much throttle for a new rider, my wife wouldn’t ride the bike until it was replaced with a longer twist to the tube which calmed the bike down, with this set up I can still easily pop the front up with half a twist of the throttle.
I looked at one of these SSR 300 S' today after watching a lot of youtube videos on them. And while it's tempting to buy one, with the low price and very cool look of the bike, for the same price you can buy a brand new Honda CFR250F. A solid, reliable, electric start, fuel injected 250. And know that if you ever did have mechanical issues or you break something on the Honda, you can get parts and service easily.
My good Sir, your point about being able to get a new crf 250F for about the same price and honda being a bigger more proven name is well noted, however...a 250F is a farm bike, a trail bike, a great one at that. BUT it is an entirely different style of bike. The SSR300 is a 30 HP full size full suspension motocross style bike that is still very trail capable (Not saying its going to run with a yz250f or a 250R on a motocross track but it is very comparable to those bikes and very close in power. The 250F you speak of has a lot less power (20hp) and a lot less suspension and sits a few inches lower.
Nice video, love to see the SSR along with the CRF X. I have a 300cc enduro bike that is almost identical to the SSR only with bigger tank and double exhausts, otherwise it seems to be the same bike. Almost forget, I'm writing you from Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
Pretty much any Honda Throttle Tube assembly will work. Or Amazon has single cable throttle housings for $10, I would get used to that quick throttle, you will learn better throttle control lol

Just got me the 21 sr 189. Loving it so far. The perfect first bike to get my foot in the door
How dose it fit you I was thinking about getting one but I don’t know if I will be to small what’s your input about it

I'm 53 over weight with body aches and pains but, I'm getting that bug to ride in the dirt again....

So you replaced your 14T front sprocket with a 13T and kept your back sprocket stock 53T? That made it easier to ride in 2nd gear on trails?
Yes. That is correct.

Thank you. Good to hear from you. Hello from the US.
Do you still have the bike and how do you think it compares to the Honda is the Honda way better or are they pretty close
Still have the bike and I love it. The Honda 250X is a great bike but did not really feel any better at all.
Thanks. Not crazy about the throttle either but getting used to it. Do you got a link or part number for the one you replaced it with?
Did you ever find the right single line cable ?

@@2jzk Yep, I can always use better
throttle control. Luckily, for now, my
dirt bike doesn't have enough power
to loop out. :)
@@bikersoncall Nope. I stuck with the Factory Throttle
Fell asleep watching this 😴😴😴😴😴😴👎👎
