  • Los Angeles, one of the busiest airports in the USA, has some very small tunnels that passengers must traverse to go between terminals without going outside security. In this video I walk from the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) to Terminal 7 via these hidden tunnels and bridges.

4:30 they are currently working on the last connecting walkway between T3 and TBIT. Once complete you will be able to walk from T1 to T7 behind security all the way around the horseshoe. It will however be a long walk.

Also, there were a couple incidents after 9/11 where a passenger managed to go through screening without being screened, causing all the terminals on the south side to be evacuated and people rescreened, because the person could be anywhere (but before the Bradley walkway). They closed the tunnels but they were eventually reopened. They now have a better handle on things.

This is a nice system of bridges and tunnels between most of the terminals. I don't think I was in these terminals when I flew to Detroit a few years ago when I had a layover at LAX coming back from overseas. It is nice that they have this in place so that most people do not have to go back through security again. I'll be curious what it will be like when the new people mover opens up!

Well Chris, you certainly got your steps in on this video 😀. I've actually ran the length of horseshoe ftom Terminal 3 to Terminal 5 in 2018 to catch a flight to Dallas but not for the reasons you'll think. On my ticket it said Spirit Airlines was in T3 so I took a cab to the airport ( I live ten minutes away so theoretically I could take the bus and take a shuttle from rhe bus transit center and be on the property in no time) , I'm one ofvthose people that leave home two hours ahead of time and have never had trouble with going through security( non TSA pre ✔️).
Any woo, when I got in the cab ,I told the driver what airline, Spirit I was taking and what terminal based in what it said on my ticket.
The cab driver looked quizzically at me and started driving. I didn't realize until we go to the airport that I'd forgotten thst there had been a big switcheroo due to American Airlines renivating and taking over all of terminal 4. The cab driver and I were disagreeing about my terminal of course when i saw that AA had all of terminal 3, all of rhe news stories about the renos I'd seen on local news confirmed he was under right. I admitted my mistake and he did say he'd take me to t5 but I said I'd walk. I was out of breath by the time I got to my gate, but I still had plenty of time to spare.
The Tom Bradley International Terminal remodel was started during the mayoral administrations of Jum Hahn and Antonio Villaraigosa and completed during that of Eric Garcetti., So 2003-2017ish. I'm looking foward to the extension of the Metro Crenshaw -LAX(K) line and the Automatic People mover being completed , I wanr to try both out. I have been on the K line once and took it from Inglewood ( one of the starions is around the corner from where I went to highschool and the tracks back then were union Pacific travks and no matter how early my mom and I would leave home, 9x out of ten, we'd get caught behind the gates and of course the train would be long enough to where you'd think it was coming from Dallas instead of the Ports of LA and Long Beach lol. For the furst month of my freshman year, I was late to school because of the train.

I wouldn't say these walkways/tunnels are hidden because there are signs pointing to them. Of course, if someone is leaving from the United Terminal and they want to visit the American Express lounge, that's in Bradley, and then it's this crazy walk and back again (it would be quicker to walk outside, but you're outside of TSA screening). I would never do the tunnel and walkway thing and would just hang around the United Terminal.
