Vanilla verses Spiced Rum Vanilla after Two Years

Two years ago I made both my regular vanilla and some spiced rum vanilla. How do they compare after two years. Let's taste test. We looked at color, aroma, taste, to find which one we liked best. Watch the video to see what both Joe and I thought.

I did everything to those beans and found that whole beans in Brandy is the best so far! I tried two vodkas Svedka and Smirnoff and Svedka won hands down with B vanilla beans.

I have a couple of questions for you. When I saw your first video, you said the vanilla was three times stronger, and I wondered if a person could just mix it with twice as much vodka and make regular strength vanilla. Then, I wondered if you could make it with half size jars (I think of those Italian clip top jars) and cut it 5:1. But, when I see this video, I wonder one thing different. If you take the vanilla that's been in vodka and cut it 50:50 with new spiced rum, and you take the vanilla that's been in the spiced rum and cut it 50:50 with new vodka, do they taste any different? I'm wondering if it matters whether the rum spices spend the two years with the vanilla pods. If it tastes the same either way, then making it extra strong with flavorless vodka and cutting it with your favorite flavored alcohol afterwards might be easier, since you can decide which mix you prefer at point of use rather than two years in advance.

I watched you October 2020 and decided to try vanilla. I had few beans and a half gallon jar of vodka but tasted it after a few months and realized there just wasn't enough beans so added another 10 beans. I haven't tasted it since. Today I watched you as I always wondered if I should have used rum after hearing so many people say they did. I'll go taste it now and write what I think. OK, it is very strong - I'm so happy. I will wait till next year for the real proof of the pudding. Where is the world did that saying come from? THANK YOU!

700 ml vodka + 10 vanilla beans= stored for at least 6 months.
I tried to calculate it based on your recipe and what I found online. I saw your comment about using 1.75 liters of vodka with 25 beans. Thats why I'm using 10 beans to my 700 ml (one bottle of vodka).
If you have the time to reply and please let me know if I'm understanding it correctly. I have never made extract before! And I want to make it perfect ;)
I always store a long time but am doing my experiment with the 25 beans right now. I will see how fast I can make it. So far, the color is very dark, aroma good I will see how it is in a few months.

This got me thinking of possible uses I'd not before. I was going to beaking pumpkin bread, later this week. I'm going to make a batch, 2 loves adding spiced rum. Doesn't that that seem the perfect spot for spiced rum?
