    Is there any other technique that you think is more important? Let me know.

      Driving consistency consistently being good becomes quite important as well. Great video, trail braking took me quite a bit of repetition but certainly am a faster driver now

      Oooo. That's a good one. Yes, there's no point being able to do one quick lap unless you can replicate it 20 times, there's no points in quali! Thanks for the support and suggestion.

      I think I'm always maxing out the track but then some 10k alien shows me how I some how missed more track, theres always more track or better angle.

      @@1xRacer yes there are a few people who seem a world above everyone. I'm not sure if there is some funny business going on with some of them... But certainly there are a few who just put the hours in and nail everything. It's often just 1 tenth or less through every corner, but over a lap and done consistently, that's a load of time.

    Your presentation gets better and better. It's amazing how good the simulators are now. We've come a long way from when we all practiced being F1 drivers by playing Pole Position!

      Thank you so much. Yes the technology is incredible. I can't imagine how it can progress in years to come but I'm sure it will somehow! You can't beat the fun of a retro f1 game though.

    Nice video Will. Gave me a better understanding of smoothness releasing that brake pedal and how to release and apply the throttle too. 👍

  • @BasementNugget

    Now I know ive been doing it shit the whole time. I go from 100% to maybe 90% of brake pressure then 0%, i knew i was doing something wrong, just not how to do it right. Thanks!

    I picked up a bad habit from my SIM and took it to the real track
    I was not taking my foot completely off the accelerator pedal when braking … only small pressure but knackered my pads up very
    You fully disengage 👌

    • @WillEgby
      @WillEgby  Год назад

      Yes. Maybe a footwear issue? Can be hard to tell you're resting on a pedal with some shoes. I really recommend the Racelabs traces as shown in the video if your sim software supports it. I check it after nearly every corner to check my inputs. Sometimes I think I'm being really smooth and I check and it wasn't haha.

    Super video! Enjoyable and informative. So counter-intuitive that braking is such a big part of quick lap times.

    • @WillEgby
      @WillEgby  Год назад

      Thanks. Yes, all you want to do is get off the brake and on to the throttle asap but it will probably hurt you in the long run!

    if trailbraking, do i have to break a bit earlier or later ? (before or after reaching my normal breakpoint)

    why is it that everyone steerings looks very smooth but when I drive it feels very slidy and not smooth at all (pc2 btw)

    • @WillEgby
      @WillEgby  Год назад

      Probably just practice. It may feel like it's easier to move the wheel more than you need to but you have to restrict yourself. Often it's because you're pushing too hard. Maybe just try focusing on going slower but being really smooth, then build up again.

    Really good information Will, excellent clear explanation and footage (especially the pedal cam… footage, pedal cam? I’ll get my coat!)
    FYI: the final corner at Donington’s GP configuration is called Goddard’s, iirc.

      Thank you. Yes, I do love a pedal cam. Yes, I kept reading Goddards and then forgot the name every time I pressed record haha. Goddards, Goddards, Goddards.
