Seeing actual *content* about FFXI that isn't "Forgotten MMO!?" or "Here's my VOD on killing this fish" is so refreshing. But you forgot the best interesting part! The prime weaponskills PRIORITIZE lower weaponskill descriptions. As opposed to prioritizing higher level skillchains. Resolution is Fragmentation/Scission, while Fimbulvetr is Detonation/Compression/Distortion. So it will check for Detonation or Compression skillchains first THEN check the distortion. So you can mix it with Evisceration, which is Gravitation/Transfixion, to actually make a compression first, then evisceration again to go back to transfixion. If fimbul was a normal weaponskill, the distortion would immediately proc a darkness, as opposed to the "infinite" chain you can do.
@@shanehunt3019 there are dozens of us still playing this game! Dozens!!! You know I never processed that skillchain prioritization in my head until now! Thank you for sharing?
Are these weapons that can fit into any other gear sets that you would otherwise use? Are there some pieces of gear that work better with the Prime Weapons to also work on alongside working on getting Gallimaufry?
Generally you'd use them just like any other weapon - your priorities for engaged set (haste/DT/multi attack/stp/etc) will still remain the same with a few notable exceptions (like the Prime Great Axe has a TON of Double Attack on it, allowing WAR to re-prioritize its gear. Because of the Prime Aftermath granting Physical Damage Limit + along with the general format of the WS formulas, you often benefit from Weapon Skilling in VERY HIGH Attack Scenarios (Chaos/Min x2/Honor March/Bubble/Dia IV/Aria of Passion if available). I'll leave the math to the big brains out there, but as far as working on other stuff while working on the long grind of gallimaufry goes, the same things still apply - Work on Augmenting your Odyssey Gear (Nyame, etc), work on your reforge, etc - most of that stays the same!
@@HeghmohTV Well, very high attack scenarios, or very low DEF scenarios. When you consider what pDIF actually is (a ratio), the denominator is actually more important than the numerator. This means that even though bringing GEO for melee DPS burns is starting to fall out of style (somewhat), in the case of a party of prime wielders, it reduces the amount of overall attack buffs required. An Idris frailty with BoG (62.7% + a weak 15% defense down and Dia 3 (20.3%) _without_ Light Shot is a crippling 98% defense down. At this pitifully low defense value, even SOUL VOICED Arias can get easy full benefit with just chaos roll. The issue is, this doesn't really work that well in areas where geomancy is nerfed. But lets say you DO use light shot, and you have a 25% or even 33% (BST or BLU) defense down, stacked with a weakened bubble? iirc in Sheol Gaol, offensive geomancy is -75% effectiveness. At first it would seem like only buff bubbles are even worth using. Thing is, even in this horrid scenario, 33% + 21%(Bolstered frailty) + 23% (Dia IV) is still 77% defense down. This makes hitting those pDIF caps a little bit more manageable. Especially when people are trying to stack both Aria and prime aftermath _and_ PDL+ gear.
I haven't been this excited about a RUclips series in a while. I love your content and I can't wait to see more of it!
Thanks for the recommendation!
Thanks! Excited about this next one…it’s a less common one!
As a newer FFXI player, thanks so much for this cool and informative video! 🎉
I've seen lots of your videos - I never look at the numbers; I had no idea you had less than 1k subs. Great content brother keep up the good work
Thanks! I'm still new here, just trying to make my humble FFXI content :) thank you for watching!
I wish I had a whole army of Galkas to play with.
@@ironbadger8985 we all have a army of galkas in our hearts

WORRY!
I'd like to see the dagger!
I do have a Stage 3 dagger! I’ll see if I can track down someone with a stage 4~

PUP, do PUP!
As a career MNK until recently I’ve thought about making the H2H - being able to make an easy darkness on monk and pup would be cool
