Easily the most thoughtful and well executed of all the various bandsaw table on RUclips. I'd buy one but suspect the cost of the build was quite high. Really nice build.
If you patent the table and sell it using a well drawn up legal agreement, you may be able to acquire a lucrative sum for future endeavors, as well as having the satisfaction of knowing that your invention is being used in the homes of many who are creating their own projects. I think that would be an amazing accomlishment in addition to the talented videos you create. God bless you, and thank you for sharing the gifts you've been given with others!
I remember when this video first debuted and everyone begged for the plans or a read-to-assemble kit. Hundreds of requests, yet nothing ever came of it. Such a shame, too, since this is far better the other stands I've seen. I'd certainly pay to have a kit, even if I had to modify it to fit my saw.... or run out and buy another saw. Great work.
I made 5 of these…. The one you have seen in the videos, one I sent to Diresta way back, sold two and one is still here chilling in a medium FedEx box just in case I need to swap a new one or have a conversation with a laser cutter. I realized with the integrated switch, it should probably be UL listed… then I got too busy with a job that tried to kill me.
@@Grunblau That's great news for the tiny handful of people who got one. Right now, the options for the rest of us are either the SWAG kit, or coming up with something on our own. I think your design is head and shoulders above the SWAG model, but not even the plans are available so we can send them off to a cut-on-demand service. You wouldn't need to offer it with a switch or outlets. That's an easy add-on for the end-user, so just allow for punch-outs in the design much like with junction boxes in electrical work. That way the customer can source their own switches and outlets, place them on the body wherever they like, etc. Or just make it solid and leave it up to the customer to cut and drill for what they need. If they can't do that, they really shouldn't be messing about with the thing anyway! :D The only problem I see right out of the gate is that it might be too low for my DeWalt saw. That's okay, too, because I can always raise it up an inch or two when I mount it to the bench. Or buy a new saw that's a little smaller. As a blacksmith, most of my cutting on a bandsaw is for ornamental purposes. I have the bigger saws if I need to part off big steel, but a small vertical bandsaw would certainly be handy for cutting out rosettes and fluer-d-lis. The problem is finding a stand that I like... and that's available for purchase. ;-)
Hey partner, I just want to thank you for taking the time to add captions. Auto-generated captions are great, but these are above and beyond. Beautiful build to say the least.
Man this is awesome thank you. It would be cool to see a vid of your pre assembly workflow. Apps used and maybe some screen capture, Tools used for bending etc. No pressure of course as this is inspiration enough and hopefully Milwaukee gave you a freebee!
I must say, your folded metal designs are inspiring in their simplicity and functionality - while maintaining beauty. Well done! Love watching your videos (Started with the CNC series, loved the forge, now this (: - that CNC made me fall in love with orange powdercoat)
+ituxcoza I might have to make another one in orange to live next to the CNC! I debated the color scheme and I thought the Milwaukee Red would not go with the Platform Orange. I guess I could rattle can the saw... :)
As I sit here today rewatching some of your videos after the brake rolled through my subscriptions, i remembered this project... Any chance you can share the DXFs of the table? Would actually love to make one for myself too!
+Educating Savvas Yeah, there are mobile versions of exactly what I did with the switch here. I just know how much happier I'd be with an incorporated switch right by my hand. Very useful for router tables, etc...
this is actually clever and it's cheap it's cheaper than the original one . When I was searching for the original one I found that it's very expensive so by a month from now i will have sent you a picture mine when ill finish it+ Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful. I too just got a Milwaukee bandsaw and the prices for SAWG like tables are ludicrous. I'm making my own. Have all the parts just need to cut the insert shape for the table. Thanks for the upload!!!
I was so impressed by this video that I also wanted to convert my recently purchased portable bandsaw from Harbor Freight ( Model 62800) to a standup bandsaw. I checked with Yelp to locate some local metal fabrication shops to cut a piece of 1/4 inch thick table top only. They all asked above $100 for a mild steel top, some of them even asked $200 just for the set up fee. I ended up getting a kit from Swag OffRoad ( Version 3) for $129. For $20 more I can get the table top powder coated and the legs zinc plated.
Wow, that's a bit expensive for a bit of steel! I'd suggest not getting the top powder coated as it will just scratch, look terrible and function poorly. You will also want to add a way to turn the saw off and on rather than pulling the cord out of the outlet. Swag has a foot operated on off switch. I think this may be annoying. Look for router table switches in order to have an easy access switch. Basically the same thing I integrated into my table.
This is a very professional look. Thanks for sharing. There are several designs for the Milwaukee portable bandsaw that mount the table in the slot in the throat like this one. My Milwaukee seems to use that slot as an air exhaust for the motor. It blows a lot of air, not a trickle. I wonder if blocking that slot would contribute to overheating the motor.
i couldn't leave your page without commenting on how awesome this video was. amazing stand, perfect editing and great narration. heres another subscriber
I have watched this build 5 times now absolutely awesome. You are skilled designer/builder with a great eye for detail. You earned a new subscriber. Really i am so impressed with this stand I am going to try and build something very close to this stand. I would like to ask are you going to release your drawings or plans?
Wow, just found you today looking for ideas for a welding table then the metal brake and now this stand/table for the Milwaukee bandsaw. Reading through the comments hoping to find additional information as this is the best I've seen. Any chance you will be selling the sand or providing the drawing to build one?
Brian, fantastic design , very clean.I like the countless others would love to buy a kit or the main parts from you, or if you can sell me the plans i would be happy to pay you for them.
I've read some not so good things about the swag setup and at $130, this seem way more stout. The adjustability of the table is a good idea. EBAY UP BRIAN! You'll make a killing.
+Jerry Peterson I really like my portaband table! I think the cost is closer to $150 with the switch/ outlet . I'll have to check again. I am currently doing a run of CNCS, when that is over I am going to do a run of the tables. BTW I spent about 6 hours using the table just today!
$150 is a very reasonable price point. I would buy one right now if you had them available. Will the table support the older 6236 or just the 6232? Thanks hope you get time to produce these. A lot of us would love one.
Hello, please tell me made a saw and I also know that it's a stupid question, but tell me please, do you sell such a saw stand, I would buy with pleasure I just have nothing to do and nothing to do and you have a very wonderful saw stand
If I'm not mistaken I saw that you shipped a portaband table to Jimmy Diresta. Is this something that you sell to the public, or do you have plans that you are will to sell? I'm very interested in making one. It's the best one that I have seen any where. Thank you
I have to agree with Wes. I saw the one you sent to Jimmy and got excited thinking you might now sell them. I have wanted one since shortly after you posted this video.
What are the switches / plugs? I'm doing some sheet metal projects and I'd like to have a simple power distribution setup as well. Are they hardware store items, or digikey? Thanks. Also, fantastic. I'd pay $250 for the components as finished, with myself sourcing the saw. I'm in the market for a similar setup and have been considering the SWAG offroad product.
Hi Brian Awesome mod you have created. I just saw this video for the first time. I am interested in purchasing one from you. please let me know if this is possible. Btw I like your design better than swag off roads. Thanks.
Hi Brian, Nice table. Your table has all the proper features and You kept it simple. Are your stands available? Please let me know how I can get on the list... Are there plans to make a Dewalt version?
What an awesome solution Brian! Interesting twist on the location of the bandsaw within the table, so the throat depth limits the length of the cut as opposed to the width. I'm guessing that's the most useful configuration for your purposes?
+Alex Howard All of this is based on the design of the Milwaukee. One side of the bandsaw is unlimited by depth, the other side is 5", I think. Mostly doing smaller cut-off stuff and with aluminum, I cut some candle wax first. This will be great for removing runners from dominoes, for example. Never thought about modifying the actual saw until just now.....
That's a beautiful design. I'm curious. What did you give to the laser cutting and bending company? Plans? CAD files? print outs? Did you supply the metal, or did they? Who tapped the threads? Could this be designed in Sketch-up, and then provide the plans? This was quite inspiring. I'd love to see how the design was made, or presented. I'm so new to this.
+David R. Darrow - drdarrow You can interact with most fabrication companies in every way you mention. I tend to model everything make sure it all fits and tolerances are good and then give them the 2D cut able geometry. So a CAD file with notes on it for important features. They will use this actual file to laser cut the pieces. You can supply the metal, but they probably get a better deal on it than you would. I sometimes tap the threads, and sometimes have them send it out to be tapped. Some places tap in house.... For these I had them countersink and tap. This means a couple day delay, but sometimes it is worth it to just have them do it. As long as you can produce a clean DXF you can use any vector creation software. For sketchup, make sure your arcs are actual arcs and not polylines.
any chance i could get a copy of your cut out that fits in the milwaukee bandsaw. in the process of making my own table for my personal use. i wanna get those edges right.

Thanks for the comment! I have a access to a scroll saw too. I wouldn't want to use it for cutting steel or for cutting off a 1.5" diameter sprue though. For breaking up scrap the portable bandsaw is great. The bandsaw is made for steel but with some candle wax, it makes quick work of cutting off sprues and runners.
