Thank you for letting us hear a bit of your home language. It was fun. It's kind of like when I was in school and took a spanish. It didn't stick very well because I just didn't have much opportunity to use it. Thanks again
This was a lot of fun, I'm glad you did this and it would be fun to do more once in a while. I love the music reactions too, of course, but it was fun to hear this and learn a little more about the language. I recognized most of these people, and I really love the guy from The Mummy, but had no idea he was from South Africa! So cool!
I definitely enjoyed this, one of the things I love about the Internet is getting to hear more about the rest of the world from the perspective of other ordinary people, rather than just what you see on television, and I love languages. I have friends who've moved to the UK from Europe, and one of the things they've said is that they tend to lose vocabulary in their native language when they aren't using it. I was amused to see Marmite referred to as a South African thing, as I tend to think of it as quintessentially British. It was also interesting, from the point of view of someone who knows a little German, and English, of course, to pick up on the odd word that I understood - fell for skin, is that right? That's an archaic term for, well more animal hide than human skin, in English, though not something you'd ever use in everyday life.
Hi Sally I am very happy that you enjoyed this one😁 It is spelled "vel" but pronounced as fell. But that is for humans, the animal hide would be called "pels" i believe😁🤗
Hi Cheryl! The two I would say would be Dutch and Flemish. We can understand each other but not speak it😁 Afrikaans is just difficult due to pronouncing certain words😅
Is English spoken by most people in South Africa, or is it a second language taught in school, as in Germany? Is Afrikaans the main language there? Very interesting video. ✌️😎
Hi Michael! Thank you so much!😁 We have 11 official languages, but in most englisg would be the 2nd. So in my school that was taught as the 2nd language. Although in an english school one of the other would be taught😅🤗😁
Madelaine Grobbelaar Petsch she grew up mostly in the US that is why her afrikaans accent not that good anymore. Yes she was born in the US but her mom and dad is South African and afrikaaners. She plays in Riverdale as Cheryl Blossom.
Interesting Lieben. This was cool. I don’t know your language at all. Does it have some Dutch influence? Just wondering. My son studied in Belgium for a year and we went to visit him. They speak French, Dutch and German there. I knew some French and some Spanish and it’s true once you stop speaking it you forget. That’s what happens a lot in America we just don’t use our foreign languages enough and we forget. Anyway, we were so tired from the time change that when we went to a Dutch restaurant we found the words funny so we were laughing (at the menu) and embarrassed our son. It was only because we were super tired. Our son rolled his eyes and said he had to get his parents back to the hotel for a nap. For sure. Dutch is hard but has some cool words.
Hi Baby Fry! It was formed from the dutch language yes😁 For example, flemish and dutch and german I can sort of understand and vice versa byt to speak it is another story😅 I used to know a bit of Greek and German but loat it completely😅
Yes...it would be fun to see more things like this and about your lifestyle! 💕
Hi Roni! Thank you so much I really appreciate that😁🤗
This was actually fun and funny hearing a different language! It let's us see a little bit of your culture!
Hi Tara! I am glad you enjoyed it😁
I enjoyed this one! Fun to watch and learn about other cultures 😊
Hi Merryl! Thank you so much😁🤗
This was really interesting! I wouldn’t mind one like this thrown in once a month or so.
Thank you so much😁 It was fun but more an experiment. I think in future it might be more tradition focussed but we will see😁🤗

Hi Regina! Thank you very much!🤗 It was fun but the music will continue😁🤗

Hi Cindy! I am so happy to hear that! I will definitely do more of these in future😁🤗🥰
I'm in the US, North Carolina. I've seen Arnold Vasloo in several movies and TV series. Most notably Bones.
Hi Sarah! That is awesome! Thank you for letting me know, I never knew he was that well known😁🤗

@@EchoesOfEmotionReact Ah, and we could also use pelt, for animal skin. Very cool, thank you.
There are so many words that are similiar, for example. "My hand is warm" is the spelled the exact same way in afrikaans and means the same🤣
That Keanu Reeves scene is hilarious
I prefer the music reactions but I'll enjoy seeing this.
Hi Lesli! The music will still come, I was just testing the waters😊
@@EchoesOfEmotionReact I like the testing the waters idea.
This was fun and interesting. You cleared up sine questions for me. What language is Afrikaans most similar to>
Hi Cheryl! The two I would say would be Dutch and Flemish. We can understand each other but not speak it😁 Afrikaans is just difficult due to pronouncing certain words😅
@@EchoesOfEmotionReact very interesting. I will read up on the history of this language.
I always love learning about other cultures, so if you'd like to do that sometimes, that's Okay by me. Still like your music reactions too though. :)
Hi Deb! Thank you so much🥰 I am going to do a seperate channel for these things in the future🤗😁
@@EchoesOfEmotionReact Ah, okay. Thanks!

I had no idea😲 It is always so surprising to hear celebrities speak the language😅
