Sidewalk Almost Completely Covered From Years Of Neglect - Fall Cleanup Start To Finish

  • I got this job from one of the ads I posting on facebook trying to help people out. These are some new renters that just moved in and the landlord was supposed to have the yard cleaned up but didn't. Obviously we said we would come get it taken care of.
There wasn't much grass on this one but the sidewalk had a ton of dirt that had been washed over it. I would say more than half of the sidewalk was covered. This job took about 2.5 hours to complete start to finish.
    00:29 shovel work front curb
    01:51 clearing sidewalk
    05:32 raking leaves front yard
    08:50 edging front lawn
10:54 shovel sidewalk 1 more time
11:30 blowing debris back into lawn
    12:42 bagging leaves
    14:07 before and after pics

Edging! Edging! Glorious edging! LOL Wish I could have been there to help you with that! The blowing looks like you gave everything a bath! LOL I'll bet the neighbors are saying "Well, I guess I'd better get busy with our yard!" Would love to see grass planted now, would look awesome! I loved watching this process so much, thank you for all you do!

Unless they cut back the oaks and keep the leaves raked, no grass will grow. The soil is too acid right now. They need to put lime down, wet it, let it soak in, then in the spring, plant grass.

Kim, I was thinking the same thing! It breaks my heart to see such good dirt going to waste, and in the spring if nothing is done it will be covered in horrible weeds in no time flat. Mother Nature abhors a vacuum, She'll make sure there's some "green" covering that rich dirt - but it won't be the kind of "green" anybody really wants in a residential setting!

It was great to see how you combed the leaves until everything was clean. It's like removing knots from a ball of wool. But when time lapse made you work with the shovel at high speed, I was out of breath! I was gasping for air to imagine the effort to remove all that dirt. And there was a caterpillar on the edge, a blackened grass caterpillar!!!. Thanks for showing it to me. Thank you for the work, time and effort you dedicate to others

@@TopNotchLawns Thank you for that! You're a GREAT man and incorporating assistants including your son is good experience for them. Your work makes such an improvement. 60 years ago I was old enough to use a scissors to cut the grass under the fence line, rake leaves and use a broom to sweep the dirt back onto the lawn.
Same as all neighbors in my subdivision.
Edging was unheard of back in the day of push mowers. No air or noise pollution, either.

Great job helping out the new tenants!
It sure doesn’t bode well for reliance on the landlord.
I hope the tenants watch their back and keep great documentation on everything.

Good advice. This is how landlords keep their money: do nothing, let the neighborhood and sidewalk safety go to hell, spend as little as possible, and then let charity do their work. Sheeeesh!
