    It always amazes me when seeing all of the negative comments. These guys were kind enough to share their efforts. Thanks a lot, fellas. I’ll be using your video as a guide to build my own for an Elton John tribute that I’m putting together. 🤘

      Everyone is a critic right? We find it funny that a bunch of wookworking trolls landed on our music page. lol!

      I found this INCREDIBLY useful. I’m making a custom keyboard stand for my office and while I’m not going for a grand piano shape I am watching what other people did and getting specific construction ideas.
      Thanks for sharing guys

    I landed here after watching a framing video where the guy said “we ain’t building a piano here.” Now I’d like to build a shell like this. Very cool idea. Good job guys.

    Love this - exactly what I was looking for. I will try to 1) make smaller - I'm reno'ing a small house so premium space and 2) wonder if I can line the spacers from the inside and add a hinge for music book storage. Great job, and thank you!

    I’ll say it: fudge all haters and fudge all critics. Turn it into fuel for success because they couldn’t figure it out yet for themselves. That’s all they’ll ever be. You guys are amazing and thank you for sharing your knowledge! You gave so many people good direction and solid ideas. Your prototypes came out beautifully and it only gets better from here. Make contracts with comedy clubs, piano bars, restaurants, etc. sell them on this idea at a fraction of the cost and they will love it. Having a baby-grand/grand piano anywhere always makes the joint look more appealing and sophisticated. And the folding leg idea was genius. (Maybe have an extra lock mechanism) for wild performers that wanna sit on the piano or stand etc. and have something in the middle of the “sound board” holding it up incase people sit or stand. I’ve seen some amazing performances and singers, fans, etc all wanna get that feeling of sitting on the actual sound board hood. Anyways - keep going! You guys Rock! Ignore the roaches on here. God bless you guys. (Reminder, please wear gloves when using that saw blade!!!) you don’t wanna end up like my wood-shop teacher! Take care. ❤❤❤

    Plywood, MDF, 4x4. Thanks for this great idea.

  • @latenightdiy1496

    This is a pretty cool way to do it. I’ve built two for my piano bar gigs but used 1/2”plywood for top and bottom, so I’m guessing the MDF might be a tad bit heavier. I recently uploaded the whole DIY to my channel but it’s a bit different due to needing a fall board for percussive effects, and I had to design a few things a bit differently for people to sit and dance on LOL. Overall very nice job!

    You should sell these as custon piano shells people would love then as they might not have enough money for a real grand piano or not enough space so this is perfect for that its like dressing up your keyboard/piano

    Thank You for sharing! You did a wonderful Job and the finish project is beautiful. As Newton Said; ""If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants." For those who criticize, take this idea and build on it. Let these gentlemen be your giants. I got the idea that I may want to build a dinning room table that looks like a piano. I thought, I must not be the first person to think of this. Hence I found your video. I got some real good ideas from your project.

      Trong NaGooYen it’s not super heavy but you will definitely need 2 people or a hand truck just because of the awkward shape. Thanks for the comment.

    I need a faux piano to be strong enough for dancers to stand on. Do you believe just adding additional bracing inside the piano would do the trick? Thank you for sharing the video and any advice would be appreciated.

    • @WarrenPostma
      @WarrenPostma 2 года назад

      I would google “torsion box” and make sure you have one of those inside and have a very strong set of legs which can handle the side to side forces (racking force) of a dancer, or several, on the piano. Long before the lid would cave in on this, your problem is the legs will snap off.

    • @KeysVersusStrings
      @KeysVersusStrings  3 года назад +4

      We're a music duo, not professional builders. However, I will say, for our "terrible construction effort", they're still holding up just fine after a year of gigging.

  • @BorderlineAlaska

    No real joinery and every other comment is “oh well shoulda have done differently but Im happy with it”
    Dangerous and probably weak as fuck gimmicks I hope you didn’t actually sell to people

    • @KeysVersusStrings
      @KeysVersusStrings  3 года назад +5

      These weren't for sell, nor do we build things to sell. We are a music duo who built these for our own use. "I'm happy with it" is all we were going for.

      If you’re not going to climb on top and dance, it’s plenty strong the way you built it. It’s funny how on the internet everyone’s holding forth like they get to say what YOU should do, because woodworking gatekeeping is a thing.
