Thanks for the video, Chad. Just finished building this for my wife for Christmas, and we were both very happy with how it turned out. One thing I wish I'd done differently is leave the glue off a few of the joints so I could partially disassemble it (like if we ever move, etc.). But, not a big deal since it's a pretty small, lightweight stand. And I should add, it really is impressively sturdy, as you've mentioned. No issues with the weight of our keyboard. Thanks again for the video, couldn't have done it without you.
Hi Matt, I am glad your build turned out well. And yes, I was surprised how sturdy it really is. Sure beats those cheap foldable stands that so many people use...And what a nice thoughtful Christmas gift for your wife!
Great idea. Think I need one for my digital piano. I'll need to make it more narrow and with a top that covers the keys to keep the desert dust off them. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks Tom P. Pocket holes screws are my favorite thing to use for projects like this. They are so easy to use and make a strong connection. Thanks for the comment!
Very nice build out. Professional you + $$$$ tools = All thumbs me with one electric drill! Gives me a visual for a non- musical cabinet maker. Thanks for a very good video.
Indeed a very beautiful piece of furniture for the living room. The keyboard itself hasn't got much charm with the grey plastic shell! Well done, mate! :)
I need a slightly modified design for myself because on top would by a pc monitor and a pullout slab for a keyboard and mouse. I connect my midi keyboard to the pc for various interaction. This does give me ideas. Ty.
This is a really nice looking build, and very straightforward for a beginner project! I don't know much about woodworking, but how stable has this been for you? I am surprised that you didn't include any kind of cross support to prevent wobbling, but maybe that's because I'm just used to more cheaply made stuff that isn't as secure as the legs you made here!
Hello Dennis! Sorry, I don't really have a list of supplies. I basically just used some oak lumber and pocket screws to build everything. The hinges where just basic ones you could find at any hardware store. Thanks for watching!
More or less exactly what I want to build for my own space, with a few tweaks. Unfortunately I have zero experience, and exactly as many tools. Will likely settle on a narrow wooden console table as a makeshift stand, but that won't have the fold down top unfortunately. Anyway, nice job.
Hi Chad...great job...you obviously didn't see the need to tie both leg assemblies together with a cross piece at the lower back side to add further rigidity? Cheers C
Thanks for the comment. I thought about the back brace, but it turned out just fine without it. I figured it would be really easy to add afterwards if I wanted.
EXCELLENT stand! I've been looking at getting a new DP, and decided the "furniture" stands they sell with them are not that attractive - and a Z stand is even worse. Your stand is beautiful, and appears to be something I, as a beginning woodworker as well, could probably pull off. Thanks!
was your next move to cut a section so that you could access the buttons? i love your idea but I would like to place things on top too. maybe make the middle part hinged also. I love your ideas Chad.
Hi Josh, Yeah, you would have to have a different design if you want to place things on top. I just leave the top clear so I can open it for getting to any of the buttons. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Hello, I really can't remember what the dimensions were and I no longer have this stand. I basically just measure the size of my keyboard and went around that.
How much do expensive keyboards weigh? I have never seen one over 50 lbs. I could sit on this stand. It's hard to imagine a keyboard weighing more than I do...
I found you recently from your video about making money from wood working. My current plan is to make a few things, tables and the such, and sell them on cregs list/ FB marketplace. Similar to what you where talking about. Do you have any thoughts or recommendations on someone starting out on this adventure?
Hello! It sounds like you have a decent plan. I started by building stuff that would work in my house just in case it didn't sell. I also started by selling things pretty cheap. It helped me build momentum and then I just raised my prices until things stopped selling quickly. Then i kind of knew what was the most I could sell things for. I finally settled on one item that I could make the best profit from, and also build quickly. Rinse and repeat. Good luck!
@@chaddiy3512 Sounds good to me! up until now I have been using a basic jack plane for cleaning up boards and just purchased online a dewalt thickness planer. I bought it with 1 goal in mind. Make enough money to make the device net positive. If I can do that, i'm golden.

Absolutely brilliant, masterfully executed! I've been looking for this exactly for quite some time, plan to start!
Thanks Brian, and good luck with your project!

Glad I could inspire you and good luck on your build!
Very nice build. The pocket holes were a perfect choice and do not detract from the clean lines of the design.

You have given me the idea for my keyboard stand. Thanks for making this video ❤️
My pleasure 😊
I like how simple the design is but turning out pretty nice and somehow contemporary stylish. Gonna build one for my 6yr old for fun.
Good luck! I'm sure your 6yr old will love it!
Beautiful result. Thanks for sharing this 👍
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it!

Thanks 👍 Yeah, I started with very few tools years ago and worked my way up!

I totally agree!

Great, and hopefully this will help you with your build!
Same dude a pullout keyboard would just look awesome and be very easy and accessible
Awesome. Thanks for sharing

Hello Aaron, this has been rock solid for me. I was a little worried that it would not be deep enough and wobble a bit, but no worries now!
Great job Chad. Thans for this project
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Nice and simple!!!
Glad you like it!
Is there a standardized dimensions for a piano stand?
What is the hight of this table? From floor to the bottom of the keyboard.
This is exactly what I need for my keyboard. Thanks for sharing! Is there a list of supplies (the wood, hinges and screws)?
Hello Dennis! Sorry, I don't really have a list of supplies. I basically just used some oak lumber and pocket screws to build everything. The hinges where just basic ones you could find at any hardware store. Thanks for watching!
Excellent workmanship, however; I believe I would have included a lower horizontal cross brace at.the midway to connect and support the leg sets
Thank you for this! Great job!
My pleasure!

Hi Chad I was watching your video. I have a full size Yamaha portable piano..what kind of wood did you use..
Hello, I used red oak for this project...it worked well!
Very very nice!! Love the design, great work!!
Thank you very much!
Great job, I loved it! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for the comment!
Good job man 👍
Thanks!

why do you say a Z stand is worse
@@topshotta9497 Just my opinion of it aesthetically. To me, the Z stand looks awful. YMMV
Brilliant!
What thickess of plates and legs did you use?
I used 3/4 thick boards for the whole build. I think the legs are 2.5 inches wide. Can't remember for sure the rest of it. Thanks for watching!
Wow, this video triggered my allergies. Excellent job dude!
What was the dimension of the wood used for the legs? Great job!
Hi Mo, I used 1 by 3 oak boards for the legs. They were 28 inches tall and 17 inches wide at the base.
Good job Chad 👌
Thanks!
Excelente! Thank you So much.
No problem, glad you liked it!

Great build
Thanks Aven!
Thanks for sharing! Any preference for the wood?
Hello, I usually use oak for projects like this.
Thanks brother ❤
You're welcome 😊
Since the cabinet is enclosed, have you had any issues with the keyboard overheating?
No issues at all, There is still plenty of air flow even in the cabinet.
Nice project Chad! How'd you know I wanted a keyboard stand? I'm planning to include a built in music stand on mine. Thanks for the great video.
A music stand is a great idea! I will probably add one at some point as well. Good luck with your build!
Thanks for the great video. Do you have a list of parts and dimensions for the build?
No, sorry I don't. I know each keyboard is a slighting different size...so I felt like everybody needed to build it to their own needs.
Its very great job.
if you cut one part, then next you can use .router to make exactly the same
with sanding yes its good but not the same
Thanks for the tip!
Great video...looking to do the same for mine. How heavy is your keyboard?
Thanks, I have no clue how heavy the keyboard is...maybe 35 lbs if I had to guess
What kind of wood did you use? And are they 1inch thick?
Hello, I am using red oak that is 3/4 inch think.
Very nice project. What sizes of lumber did you use?
Hello Greg, I used 1 by 3s for the legs, 1 by 4s for the front, 1 by 8s for the sides and back. You can use whatever works best to fit your keyboard.
Amazing!!! What is the final dimensions of the stand?
Hello, I really can't remember what the dimensions were and I no longer have this stand. I basically just measure the size of my keyboard and went around that.
An improvement would be to make the top cover also hide the keyboard to protect it from dust when not in use.
That is a great idea howard! When designing this, I struggled with wanting it to look kind of cool and protected the keyboard some.
Hello Friend, Please I would be grateful if you could share with me the exact Length, Breadth and Height of the Custom Stand you built. Reply awaited.
Hello, I no longer have this so I can't give you exact measurements. I believe I was trying to get the piano a height of 29 inches if that helps.
@@chaddiy3512 Thank You.
I too would like to know the height, I know the other measurements can be different depending on the keyboard.
Hello Rob, the recommended piano height I think is 28.5 inches... I went just a little higher then that.
That may work for a cheap keyboard, but it needs more reinforcement for a solid keyboard.
How much do expensive keyboards weigh? I have never seen one over 50 lbs. I could sit on this stand. It's hard to imagine a keyboard weighing more than I do...
very good
Well Thanks!
what size screws are you using?
I am using 1 1/4 kreg screws.
Nice job , name of that keyboard please ?
Hello, It is a Casio PX-575R
Thank you sir
I love it
Thanks Arthur!
Amei. Ficou lindo! Queria uma mesinha dessas para meu teclado. (Brasil)
Thanks!
OMG I've got exactlly the same sweatshirt xD
Great minds think alike!

Where do you put your music?
you can add a holder on the flip up top.
@@chaddiy3512 Ok thank you.
Can we have pdf with metric measures ?
Sorry, I don't have anything like that.
hello good job, but know the steps to do it at home
Muito muito bom! Parabéns, Deus abençoe

I’m a workshop and some wood too short to this 😢😭
Well at least you can watch the video!
sad story about B0 key
The irony here is that he can never play his keyboard because his wife installed baby protectors on the wall outlets!
Ha, good one!
