- A different look at the PERfourMER. A grittier, plucky, arpeggiator like demo. Video dubbed as best as I could. Single recording with only the PERfourMER's 4 voices. Light reverb and delay then printed to 1/4 in. tape (Studier Revox PR99 MKIII). Enjoy!
This synth is definitely a classic; up there with the very best
This sounds so good, great composition, love the subtle changes and knob twists over time
Wonderful! I just purchased one of these. Your videos influenced my final decision.
Danny McGirr still liking it?
How about now?
Still love it??
I feel more safe here.
What a fantastic sounding synth! Great stuff
this sounds awesome
ihavete DRM MKIII.. am in love with vermona ...will pick this up hopefully soon ..thanks for this inspiring video
This reminds me a lot of Petar Dundov's "Ideas From the Pond" - an amazing album, which everyone here should check out!!! This really makes me want a Perfourmer, great job.
Not heard of this artist before, just had a listen to the first track and it's fantastic!
Thanks for the recommendation.
Thanks for that ,Alex, absolute wonderful album !! What a joy...made my week
Great job. Very Tangerine Dream but it also reminds me of the soundtrack to the film Sonatine.
I think the PERfourMER is sort of like the modern Oberheim SEM 4 Voice. Wish Tom would come out with an official one.
Hopefully Vermona's name will be as esteemed as Oberheim's in the future. This synth sounds and feels incredible. It's a beautiful instrument all around.
Great Job!
Lovely sounds. Just put together a modular build to capture the Vermona essence. This gear deserves to be legendary. It sounds so real. In comparison the rest sounds flat. TY Vermona.
Archie this is amazing dammit. I think you may have sold me on a PERfourMER. :(
Would you say a lot of the character is coming from the synth or your recording to tape? I mean, damn, it sounds so good!!!
awesome
so holy !
You have to release your music ! Lot's of independant can be interested :) good Work
warm & musical sound, that is the vermona - wonder if it can sound beefier & nasty?
No daw? Which sequencer?
Beautiful... big kompliments!!!
The only synth ive ever had that i regret selling.
what is your arpeggiator source for this one?
All sequences are programmed via controller into Logic and out to PerFourmer
Great video - just curious how do you let the Perfoumer keep playing? is it hooked to a sequencer?
He mentioned in another comment that a DAW is sending MIDI out to the PerFOURmer and then live performed with the parameters.
Sooooo cool , congratulations. Beautiful sound out of this thing. Also looking seriously into it . What do you use for sequencing? In terms of hardware , would I need at least a four track midi sequencer then? I.e. Digitakt? Cheaper Beatstep pro wouldn't manage four midi tracks .
Is this one poliphonic right?
Any info appreciated!
Regards
digitakt midi is mind meltingly cumbersome , 2 b step pro' s for the price of Digitakt if u have the space , I'll be returning my digitakt after 4 days of banging my head against the wall , it is going back.
The p4's midi features are basic , the complexity of digitakt could well be a mismatch unless you need the drum trax , but the B step pro has those too.
I am getting the p4 tomorrow 4 Dec , will try it with the p4 but will probably still send it ( Digitakt) back and get a 2nd B step Pro and maybe a reverb of some sort or a looper.
The drum machine part of the Digitakt is not worth the price if all you want out of it is the midi sequencing alone - Just my opinion. J Horrobin
JOHN HORROBIN Thanks and good luck, please keep informen and upload new video on that set up (2 Beatsteap Pro)
JOHN HORROBIN ...btw, now that I here this again(post was long ago) still love it, great track
I have been hugely frustrated with Elektron, I want them to be better. I have gone back to a DAW but run everything off an Expert Sleepers USAMO. It is MIDI timing perfection and a cheap fix.
Do you have any work released?
+Evan J Hi Evan. I do not have any official releases or music for sale yet. I have worked on some other projects that have been. Most of my personal works can be found on RUclips, and Soundcloud. Thanks!
ArchieMusicCanada You are welcome. I'm in a similar boat but I don't have much of my stuff online yet. I do look forward to a release and would be glad to help spread the word. You've gained a few admirers for what it's worth.
If you don't mind me asking: What software/hardware are you using to sequence the perfourmer? Also, do you know of a way to sequence 1 or 2 VCOs on the perfourmer while making the others playable live?
Thanks! - Evan
Sounds good Evan! I am happy to have reached some followers like yourself. Thanks for the support!
I am currently using Logic Pro X as a DAW. Here is another response describing my setup.
"...In Logic 9 I used a little bit more complicated MIDI Environment for all my synths. I just recently switched to Logic X and have it setup a little simpler. It can be setup the same in both versions, I just happened to change my workflow. I just have a simple External instrument set up on a track for each external synth. I configure the corresponding MIDI interface (I have an RME FF800) and corresponding port to the synth. The PERfourMER is very simple to configure the port. You select the MIDI channel from the selector knob, then hit the trigger button on the desired voices that you want to use that channel. Simple on off. You can have each voice on the PERfourMER communicate on its own channel if desired. I then have an output of the PERfourMER patched to an Audio track in Logic for Printing and effects. Hope that this helps!"
Yes, you can split up the voices as desired into different MIDI channels and do what you described. You could set the desired to be sequenced voices into one MIDI channel and then set the other two to another or depart MIDI channels. I hope this helps.
Thanks again for your support!
Archie.
ArchieMusicCanada Wow, thank you so much! That's more information than I hoped to receive. Extremely helpful. Thus far I've been enjoying live playing the MKII but I'd like to get more into sequencing as you are doing. I would love to keep in touch. Whereabout in Canada are you based?
+Evan J You are more then welcome for the information. I am based near Halifax, NS.
Cheers
A thorough explanation of the dials on the far right for poly mode midi sequences etc is needed badly in English! Peace 🧐❤️🕺🙏🎶👽✌🏻👍🏻🛸Christo
how did you make the arp ? is via midi or you played ?
I recorded myself playing and tightened up MIDI. Then ran MIDI from DAW so I could tweak the knobs :)
Thank you only saw your reply now !
Hands-on interface, relatively good sound, but no sequencer with parameter locks... Those are Elektron killer feature IME, sad that most synths don't have 'em (patented? but wait, I've heard DSI Pro2 has some form of it). Nevertheless the sound of this Vermona is good, noisy but good.
Very nice work. I"ve had my eye on a Prophet 6 for the eventual future, but your demos show the power of the perfourmer..what sort of midi controller do you use?
+Nick H Hi Nick, Thanks. I have a bunch of boards that are MIDI chained and can control the PERfourMER if needed however, I have an M-Audio Axiom Pro 49 in my desk which controls Logic Pro X which then controls the PERfourMER on most days.
Cheers
Archie
Cool. Ever thought about getting an Octatrack? I think it would be perfect for all that.
Vermona of course this is far away to "Oberheim voice 4" sound
Did you really have to write this comment on every video of this synth?
ollimoore 🤣
