I don't know about others, but I'll try to describe how I managed to learn the bottom part of the turn. First, I think it helps to imagine it exactly how you described a flower in the earlier video: stop your hand, let the poi do the turn on its own. Secondly, and this was huge for me: to get used to having my palms face backwards with a slight positioning behind my hips. Once I got familiar with that, it magically started to make sense how it should work out.
omg this is really helpful! I was kinda getting it without knowing how, it was automatic, but your tips have helped me refine it and gain more control! Thank you :)
Super new to Poi and I love your vids!! So helpful. the 2nd half def was tough for me!! Once it clicked that it is just a reel turn but behind you i started gettig a little flow
I’m loving these videos! Thanks so much for sharing them. I don’t know if it’s useful for others but it helped me to think that during a reel turn the poi are sweeping either up or down in FRONT of me as I turn but with tuck turns I’m tucking them BEHIND me as I turn. That was the missing step for me and as soon as I realised that I stopped thwacking myself with the poi every turn 🤣
Hi Drex. I am one of those that was not feeling those tuck turns behind the lower back.....but then I just started to just use the left poi alone and practice the tuck turn..... And then the right alone and finally both......I needed these extra steps to make progress..... .....also felt compelled to sign up to patreon to support you. Your work deserves support given its quality, expertise and first and foremost your brilliant teaching. Keep it up (for us!), thanks !
Greeeeeat! I knew how to the upper turns but never actually turning from one side to another. It's really esthetic. I'm gonna try and do the bottom one, it looks good and it's new to me!
It would be great if you also showed the drills facing the back wall (a mirror on back wall also) so I could figure out which way you are going ( left to right, etc) thanks.
Thnx Drex, just started on this one, I love that you showed the different perspectives, it really helps! Got my first set of poi last month and I was following the spinballs app but its glitchy on my tablet, so glad to find you are doing updated videos!! Subscribed😁
Great tutorial nailed it straight away from the left side but struggling a little with the right forward side but I will keep watching till I get it ☺️ always love your tutorials you make it so easy to follow and learn quick 👍
I agree. I spent maybe an hour with this before it just clicked. Find it's like that for most of the moves. Except the hyper loop that tricks eluded me forever. Once I master it I'll probably do that one more than anything mwahahah
This one has really broken my brain apparently :P I'm gonna keep trying but at some point I think I'll have to just move on so I don't get too frustrated by the whole thing.
I decided to get back on practicing pois and yout channel is the best. Love your work! (already watched an old video of your's about this movement, but I'm watching this one, the knowledge is the same, but perhaps the way you teach it could be different). Greets from Brazil!
Greetings from DC! I actually can't remember what technique I taught in that last video but my guess is it'll be similar. These are mainly intended as a series for people just getting into poi spinning now so they have a progression to work through.
My mind can't grasp this concept. I can do the arm pit tuck and shoulder stop no problem, but can't turn it into a move. I unfortunately still don't understand. Seems like I need to do a stall behind my back and I can't do that. I think I'm doing something wrong :)
I have problems with stopping the poi behind my shoulders and i have longer poi is lenght a factor ( i realise its stalls behind my back but cant get it to work )
All I seem to do is smack myself in the head. Yours just seem to stop I cant grasp how to get a smooth stop behind my back (they just bounce off my back or smack me in the head)
Thank you! Hit myself a bunch but got it down really fast thanks to your tutorial!
You are so detailed in explaining every single movement. You've helped me a lot. Your passion definitely shows. Thank you!

I love how u teach showing the arm movement without the poi distracting me lol. EXTREMELY HELPFUL! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

My flow has improved so much since finding you! I appreciate how you break everything down in a way I can understand.

Thank you for doing these and being there for us you are amazing
Thank you for watching! I'm in this for the long haul--let me know if there are specific topics you'd like to see me cover.
Thats so helpful. I watched the other video you made about this a while back but with this one I could correct the way I did it.
Greeeeeat! I knew how to the upper turns but never actually turning from one side to another. It's really esthetic. I'm gonna try and do the bottom one, it looks good and it's new to me!
I watched this like 15 times and my under hand is still a bit dumb.
Thank you for all videos!
I'm a basic spinning and loving these blocks I skipped.
Hey I’m just starting to watch your videos it took me about three days to get this move. Thanks for putting this content out there
This is one I can't figure out to save my life! I've watched this at least 50 times 😭
Lol I can’t get it either, don’t feel bad ❤️
I was the same.....until I just decided to do one poi alone first.....
It would be great if you also showed the drills facing the back wall (a mirror on back wall also) so I could figure out which way you are going ( left to right, etc) thanks.
Very helpful for terminology. I have known as certain move a hip reel, which it seems like you refer to as a tuck turn. Have you heard of that before?
It's the wrist. Itneeds more bend and then it flows naturally for the behind arm spin.😊

Great ❤🎉Drex awsome 😊
Thank you so much! The only one *-*
I can NOT get my brain to work with the under the armpits part x.x
Over the top I got... but going underneath is NOT clicking in my brain . Gonna have to drill drill drill
All I seem to do is smack myself in the head. Yours just seem to stop I cant grasp how to get a smooth stop behind my back (they just bounce off my back or smack me in the head)
There is move happening behind.. watch that .. u get that ul get the move
Can we just settle on underarms instead of pits?
Great video for learning, very thorough. Just please stop looking at the camera during the slow-mo. It's terrifying.
What's the length of this poi?
23 inches from tip to tip!
@@DrexFactor Thanks!
I wonder how many people think Linda instead of Ada when they see that shirt.
the instructions are unclear. my cat is in the oven now. where do I go from here?
you should consider giving credit to the māori culture in the beginning of your videos too :)
I'll subscribe if you stop saying yeah so much
I love when he says that
