Bro, everyday I have to spend a little bit more to live. Everyday I see this country get a little bit meaner and a little bit more insane. Your videos are my medicine. I don't know where I'd be without being abke to work on my vehicles or not being able to enjoy others rides. Thank you for staying true to your original formula. No fluff, just cars, specs, and noise. Keep it up man. I'm plugging your channel everywhere I can.
Thank you and I’m glad we bring some happiness with what we do. It sure is a strange time we live in but the vehicles and people we shoot with remind me that there’s still a lot of really good people out there
My 528ci poked and stroked '72 Road Runner is my therapy tool and medication! sometimes when I just want to get away from all of the BS in life, I go and jump in her and just the sound is enough to help me relax! Then I just putt around nice and easy knowing that I am faster, and cooler looking, than 99.9% of everyone on the road! if I do run into someone in something that might be a cu*t hair faster than my car they can go ahead and get a ticket or kill themselves showing off!
He’s such a cool guy! Funny, pure cool and as real as it gets. Stoked him and I have become friends these past few years. And what a cool car and story!
Great build Jimmy!!!! I love the salt as well. I love to learn about all the engineering that goes into building a salt flats racer!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Yes Jimmy & Shawn, I did have fun watching this...! The stride of the long gears with the low-down torque looks as much fun as it is unique... And as much as we already know and admire about the ‘68 Charger, you’ve made us think as well as smile... Jimmy, I LOVE and get that you stuck with EVERY aspect of the land speed history & nature of your car...! Otherwise, where would you draw the line...?!
@@AutotopiaLA - Shawn, pure cool is spot on! And I’m sure you’ll have your own insight into the pressures to do something other than what Jimmy did, to a ‘68 Charger...! So, even as I write this - is that what you mean; pure cool under pressure....? Thanks again for bringing Jimmy and this (his!) Charger to your show, Shawn.
I love the barefoot gas pedal! it takes me back to the late 60's or early 70's when I was learning to work on cars, trucks, boats, tractors etc. with my older brother. He lost interest in cars in the mid eighties when they got slow and ugly, but being ten years older than I am, he was the main influence causing me to become the MOPAR oficionado that I am and have been for decades.
Yeah! It is all about how different this car is, and its right to be... And just shows how cool a guy & builder Jimmy is to bring this car ‘back’ in this way...
Love the Whole History of the Bonneville Salt Flats! ... my 'Fantasy' to Strip Down..my '99 Civic Hatchback..( put some ridiculous engine/tranny in 'Her'..)...& Getr Up to 200mph!!! Cheers From Canada!
That is so awesome 😱👍🏻🤙🏼 I remember seeing stuff about this build, then it disappeared, I'm so glad he got it back, it has a amazing history with the guys that build it the first time, so sorry they are not here to see it 😞🙏 , didn't like the wheel's, but it is for the salt lake racing that what it was built for, glad he can drive it on the street now 👍🏽👍🏻👊🏾
Early 1980s, a friend of a friend had a Superbird. Yellow, 440 4 bbl., 2.74 rear end. Supposedly could go 140 mph. Originally owned by a woman who used it to tow her boat. Still had the trailer hitch.
Hands down best sounding car yet Plus I'm sitting here in Lake Charles Louisiana and going oh no there not going to drive it lmao first gear all over town I would love to experience 2nd with my foot in it
That’s one of the cool things about this channel, I have ZERO interest in salt cars. But! It’s Jimmy Shine, SoCal Speed Shop, and a super nice build, it’s cool that doing things right makes me interested in things I’m not interested in.
Aerodynamically, I don't think anyone who might read "land speed record" would ever match that to an old school Charger right off the bat. Paint it orange and stick it front of a decommissioned bridge, give it a rev and start selling tickets! 🤑
There's a74 duster funny car in San Francisco built in the 1980s last time it race was in the 1980s just sitting with a himi and super charger, owner my friend will not talk about it.he is 71 years old, thanks!
these are dunlop on front and exelsior tires 32× 7.50 16 in the back ?? these are 50ties formula 1 tires ! is the charger not to heavy for this wheels ?
I know! Jimmy almost cancelled the shoot because like everyone else…he’s waiting on parts/harnesses. But I didn’t want to miss the opportunity of shooting this one
Hey bro thanks for sharing this with us good old Jimmy's he's a cool dude hey and Justin has a what new build that twin turbo 69 keep me up the par and I don't want to see what he's done with that thing man all right later oh and tell your daughter I said hello

I just love to hear the story behind every car, the pedigree. This is one very very special car. Great video as always 👊🏻
The stories that come with cars always make them better for me
Love the sound of that Hemi. Thanks for sharing, Shawn!
Glad you liked it. That 426 is glorious!
He’s got the best personality for your channel he’s looks like a blast to hang out with !great lineage on the car

That’s so cool .. these cars are iconic for a reason
Fantastic build . Very clean & understated. The execution is superb 👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Jimmy and his crew do exceptional work
Talk about badass!!!
That Charger sounds demonic...they don't get much better then this one Scott!
Keep the videos coming guys.
Really an amazing car and story
Bought it for a song 'its amazing how much things can change in 18 years. Nice alternative approach on this charger.
You can’t buy a rust bucket donor car for a song anymore
That clip of it hauling ass across the lake bed is super bad ass.
So cool!!
Great build Jimmy!!!! I love the salt as well. I love to learn about all the engineering that goes into building a salt flats racer!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
I love this one and to think it was originally built for Bonneville is awesome! Jimmy is a legend

What a great history this car has!! One of my favorite episodes to date, plus Jimmy Shine is the Motha F'ing man. Keep up the great work Shawn.
And in my favorite color,I think I'm in love😁
Such a cool unique Charger and that color is 🔥
Beautiful!!!
He definitely builds cool cars , this is so awesome love the sound
Jimmy and his crew get it done and done right every time
Jimmie shine is amazing with cars

Wow that sounds aggressive! Great story behind the build.
Love the story and what a cool build
Very unique. Salt flats car. That hemi engine sounds glorious. Not enough road for that to open up completely.🔥🔥❤️❤️🤑🤑🆒😃
Need a lot of road for sure!
I love how different this car is. I would love to see a video if it on salt!
Yeah! It is all about how different this car is, and its right to be... And just shows how cool a guy & builder Jimmy is to bring this car ‘back’ in this way...
At least we got to grab a little of the old footage they had on the salt. Such a cool build with purpose
Jimmy Shine has all the cool toys! I wanna play-please, please, please! Good one, Shawn.👍
He’s just so damn cool and I love what Jimmy and his crew build
Heck ya Shawn!! Another brutal car on the channel.
With such a cool history!
Sounds wicked.
Oh it is
Cool gas pedal, made one in HS metal shop, still got it.
😮😮😮😮😮
That’s awesome!!
Very cool unique car with a great story. Great to see it recreated like this. Be safe and stay well.
Love the story of this car and that Jimmy got to buy it back and make it into this
Beautiful beautiful
Man what a great car and a great story,,
So good! Jimmy is a legend in this industry. He’s raced Bonneville multiple times including well over 200 mph in a roadster!
@@AutotopiaLA man,, would live to meet him one day,,, how do you find these people lol
Thankyou Mr Shine the legend and Sean for bringing this awesome beast for us to drool over!!!! I want!!!
Thanks for watching and appreciating Jimmy and this amazing Charger!
Nice charger 👍👍
Such a cool build with a great history
Fun fact: as a 13 year-old I got to be in Dick Landy's pit one weekend at SIR in Washington state, fetching tools. One of my best childhood memories.
Gotta love the Hemi!
Good job ! thanks for sharing !
Thanks for watching!
All that power and you can cruise around in 1st like it's a Sunday afternoon and still have a conversation lol

Such a cool story and I love that Jimmy owns it and turned it into this!

Used it for towing? Awesome!
Jimmy shine's seen it all, and done it all at this point I would think.
He is a legend! He has so many great stories
Killer car! Would love to see an episode on Shine’s legendary Frankenshine pickup!
At 10:50 what was the speed and the RPM of the car when you were looking over. Awesome build.
I don’t remember honestly. We never went that fast and he could barely get to 2nd gear. Tall gearing is an understatement
Great looking Charger & love the 68.
Bad ass 68 !
No doubt
So cool. Sounds amazing.
Agreed
Very cool!!!!!!!!!
What a unique looking car, so purpose built, he nailed it. The Fiesta Flash 🤙🏼🍺🍺🍺
💢OLD-SCHOOL GOING 200MPH😎💨
Sure love the salt fever cars. Only place left where garage built and megabucks cars go head to head
Amazing!!!!
Another rare, amazing car.
And such a cool story from Jimmy with this one
Very nice ride, better story. Swap the tires, find some open road. Maybe drive it to lake?
Hands down best sounding car yet

@@AutotopiaLA I mean… SoCal Spped Shop… bro… the red and white swoosh is iconic! And Shine is a bad mofo
There is no other engine that is like a Super Hero more than the mighty Chrysler Hemi!

Good stuff bro . ✌
Definitely a cool build with a great history
Aerodynamically, I don't think anyone who might read "land speed record" would ever match that to an old school Charger right off the bat.

yeah a Daytona nose cone and wing would help
How could you not love a charger?
What Transmision is he running and are they special gears in the transmission? Thanks
Can’t remember the trans but it’s geared at 3.0 for high speed runs
Classic
DAMN sounds so good with headphones on 10.....
Awesome! Love that 426 sound
Way cool
Sweet,,
Very cool build
I think I'd rather go for a drive then get food. I'd be lurching the food back up in that thing! LOL Great car! Awesome story with it.
Me too but Jimmy was hungry and didn’t want it to turn to hangry lol!
Always love when the Charger opens its eyes hehe
Really nice work in this car......Jimmy is a crack-up!
I ain't scarrrrd
Jimmy is funny..interesting guy...great car...thanks Shawn....good job
Gotta love Jimmy and his builds and always a lot of laughs happening with him
Unique. I think it's missing the Iceman figure on the door panel.
Awesome job.
68/70 charger dream car beautiful car 😍
imagine the gas bill on the 5 mile long course, well worth it i say, awesome build

these are dunlop on front and exelsior tires 32× 7.50 16 in the back ??
these are 50ties formula 1 tires ! is the charger not to heavy for this wheels ?
Man ur the luckiest guy alive!! What a bitches ride!!
I love getting to experience the vehicles we shoot and the people we shoot with. Definitely feel lucky!
wow el poder americano que chulada
Nice car but they were going over 200 in these cars back in the 60's with the super birds
Not on salt…
No seatbelts/harness?
I know! Jimmy almost cancelled the shoot because like everyone else…he’s waiting on parts/harnesses. But I didn’t want to miss the opportunity of shooting this one
Nice car. But it would need a front splitter to reduce drag at high speeds
I think it needs more than that. He needs to get the car into a wind tunnel.
Star Trek 'car witn a X-15 sound.
