- (Re-uploaded in better quality and in one piece) Air date: 4/23/1994. This particular match from the Spring of 1994 featured Paul Berger looking for his second win in a row after defeating Don Santiago the week before, having to face challenger Billy Standley.
This match featured some INCREDIBLE shots (especially at the beginning of the second game!) and some very high scores, especially from one particular bowler.
Hope you all enjoy and R.I.P. Don Gillis.
To Wolfman12395 thank you for putting up all these candlepins shows. My dad & I watch one every afternoon together. We are from Mass but moved to South Dakota in 1979 so we both miss candlepin bowling since its only ten pin houses here. Brings back alot of memories. Im glad we found your channel. My mom was on Candlepins for Cash tv show. I wish i could find it.i was there as a baby. I hope you keep posting these matches! Thank you.
Don Gillis was the best sportscaster in New England and in the USA(will be sadly missed)
I've just discovered candlepin bowling on RUclips. Agreed...Mr. Gillis was great
So great to be watching Channel 5 bowling once again. Didn't expect Paul Berger to lose all 3 strings .
I liked when Don Gillis read all rhe bowlers with the most appearances : Charlie Jeutras,Fran Onorato, 'Pistol' Pete Ianuzzo,Joe Donavan...
I started watching Candlepin Bowling as far back January 1970 (Black and White 9" Zenith) and kept track each champion, appearances and high scores, back then they wrote the scores on a chalkboard.
thanks for the post 7-11-2022
I'm anxiously waiting for Tom Olszta vs. Todd Shafer
Not often you see a 155 game with no bonus money earned
These games are usually not close. Most of them one player gets totally beanwiped.
In better quality and in 1 piece, do you think you can reupload that show where paul throws a 500 and wins by over 100 pins?
al johnson and jim kelly were two other big guns that bill standley went up against
Billy so close
