True but the public have already been brainwashed into believing that drones are bad so can't be convinced otherwise, in the same way that a lot of viewers of this channel (by law of averages) believe EVs are bad and also can't be convinced otherwise.

It is perfectly legal to fly the same drone INSIDE the helicopter where, I think, we can all agree is not a good or safe thing to do!

In the UK, I saw pulsejet powered planes in the 1980s at model air displayes.
Yes, military and police forces still use "Draganfly" drones and 72mhz systems developed late in the 2000s. Those goggles are actually AR "glasses" powered by android usually, used them at CES back in 2018, but Google couldn't even get their version Google Glass to stick. I also gave up on regulations and just got out of the hobby. I only have sub250 wing and whoop now. No remote ID or registration for me.

Bruce, the question truly is what is the FAA focused on. As the world can see it is not aviation safety. The FAA needs to focus on is getting the young men and women interested in aviation so they can become the airline pilots and A&P technicians of the future.

That is actually my Uncle Bob in the first picture.
They were testing the feasibility of being able to remotely bring donuts to the offices from the donut shop accross the street.
The whole precinct was in agreement that they needed daily donuts, but nobody was wuite physically fit enough to walk all the way there and carry the doughnuts back accross the street without pulling a hamstring.
They had 7 officers at one time at home on disability with pulled hamstrings, and thus the FPV Drone program was tested...but it turns out nobody could pilot across the street successfully.
I tried those style of gogs in 2016, I think they’re a more modern version called the BT-35E, a ‘see through screen’ worked ok if you were single oping both drone and cam, no real value in any ‘2 person’ operation.
Helicopters vs drones is very much like the elephant shrieking when it sees a mouse!
Great vid @xjet. Those were some interesting topics you covered. I think Wave is doing more than just that pulse jet. They’ve been working with darpa on some stuff. Interesting company.

Sweet god. we were running pulse jets on single wing control lines in the late 70's. Yes, you got really dizzy when you stopped.
If you were working for the US government, how much trouble would your council be able to cause for you? To quote the council man trying to knock down Arthur's house in the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, " None at all".
My Dad was nearly killed by a pulse jet engine while he slept in his bed! Unfortunately his home was 100m from the gate of a US army airforce P51 Mustang base and the pulse jet, (along with its 1000kg of amatol high explosive) had been very irresponsibly launched from the French cost at the said airfield (Headcorn, Kent) and After a Tempest (flown by Richie McCaws grandfather no less) put a 3 second burst into the pulse jet it crashed into the boundary of the airfield and blew up! My dad woke up with the end of his bed hanging out of what had beed his bedroom wall to see US ground crews and pilots rushing to pick him up from the destroyed house and rubble. As he was only 7 years old he got lots of care from those airmen and more chocolate and 'candy' than he could have dreamed of!!

Thank you Xjet. One question for our US congress. Hobbyists have paid thousands of dollars for their DJI drones. If they are grounded without the hobbyists' consent, they better have a buyback program in place.
Just three month after I have built my first directly driven dual-rotor helicopter with INAV on it and put it on YT, a Chinese aviation company presented the very same concept as a new groundbreaking innovation on Facebook. On the video it looked like a slightly upscaled one-to-one copy of my build.
The German V1 'buzz bomb' used a pulse jet engine. It was the precursor to the V2 missile.
Hi... and yes there were those same fpv glasses used in about 2006...and yes they were useless as there was more light and outside views than fpv view...my mate used them on a 5mtr glider with a massive cam- recorder and dirty vtx....they did exist

This is the 4th time in about two years a heavy part has fallen off a Boeing. In October 2022, a 747-400 Dreamlifter dropped a wheel. A door fell from a 737-Max and a 777 engine cowling fell in a residential area near Denver. For context, there are about 15,000 airliners aloft constantly.
OH NO!!!! Fiber Optic Quadcopters will be banned. AND block headed government idiots will included control line model aircraft. Well I can't fly C/L anymore 'cause I can't turn around more than 4 times. I tried 2 years ago and fell over on turn 5. 😢😢😢😢
As an 12 year old in 1962 I flew a 95mph c/l in the neighbours pasture on 20 foot lines -- No Problem back then.😂😂😂
V1 flew with a pulsejet. I'm sure pulsejets have improved from those times but what the hell :)
I read an article on that new engine Wave designed on The Drive Warzone. It’s a good article if you want to look it up. I don’t think RUclips will let me post a link unfortunately.

The V1 used a bit different tech than the simple tuned/oscillating pipes and chambers shown though - it had louvres at the front that opened in the slipstream/by under pressure in the chamber, slammed shut as the pressure of the combustion rose, providing 'something to push on'
As the pressure in the chamber drops they again open, letting fresh air in. Repeat. Some pulsejets today use reed valves that do the same.
Starting the V1 used a shot of pressurised air to get it lit off, oscillation was enough to keep it running, but it didn't have enough power to take off on its own power alone -it was launched off the ramp by a steam catapult.

Let's talk about some good things _ Meteomatics Weatherdrones, based in Switzerland, flying up to 5 5k AGL on a daily base with no issues at all, keeping ground risk as low as possible with impact predictions based on wind speeds/directions and buffer zones, using parachutes as well - check the NOTAM's.

Australia’s UTM project has been in development for 4 years.
Presumably Tax payers are funding this UTM project. I hope Airservices will then charge commercial users a fee to recoup system and O&M costs. It would be interesting to see the scope and business case for the UTM project.
How such a system copes with larger birds, kites and temporary structures will be interesting.
There are only two drone delivery services licensed by CASA, operating in 5 geographic locations.
A UTM seems like overkill for two delivery operators - unless it’s very low cost of course 😂.
Surely air taxis would require remote pilot supervision for initial deployments, and could be managed as helicopter services until the level of demand for such services is known ?.

Here in Spain some roads, notably those used by motorcyclists, have warning notices on the side of the road regarding Radar, helicopter or 'Drones' speed limit enforcement...

Right now if you bring a case against remote ID or registration or what amount of airspace the FAA actually can control, you'll lose. Raceday quads lost because Chevron mostly. One of the judges told the FAA there are plenty of other ways the agency could have written that rule. Yet they sided with the agency because of Chevron deference doctrine.

Yep, I was on the "Jet Racers" episode and helped a bunch of Navy engineers build a pulsejet-powered vehicle that we ran down the Santa Pod dragstrip. We beat our turbine-powered opponents ... yay!
I was also a technical advisor for the US version of the series where we built a pulsejet powered drag-boat which won its race at the Longbeach Marine Stadium in LA (beating a V8-powered boat).
That brief clip I showed of the pulsejet dragster was filmed here at the Tokoroa Airfield and had Temuera Morrison (Boba Fett in TV series) in the driver's seat. It was part of a show here on NZ TV.

The problem I see with the rise of drones and tons of regulations. Is back in the day when you had to build your model aircraft. It took some skill and smarts to make something that would work. Which also came along with intelligence on where you should fly and how. Turn-key drones and such let any idiot fly with no commen sense. Of course in the U.S. our current government feels the need to monitor everything everyone does. You should see the new rules for cars. Driver cameras, microphones in the car to listen to conversations. And of course remote shutoff. Our state governor felt it was necessary to have names and addresses of anyone who owns metal working machines ie Lathes, Mills, Cnc. That's to make sure no one is building anything they shouldn't.
2:17 Ok Bruce I disagree with you here, I worked for a company that did part 107 drone work for tv and commercials. we worked on master chef, american idol, etc. We were granted an exemption from the FAA that allowed us to operate over people due to the fact that we successfully demonstrated a parachute working to arrest the descent of our drones. granted these were DJI S1000s rather than massive agricultural or manned multirotors. The chutes were deployed using CO2 canisters and failsafe logic in the A2 flight controller. Of course it could go wrong any number of ways, but the FAA was sufficiently convinced to allow us to operate over people. Can't remember what was the minimum altitude but we did maintain that. Your other reason is that "the wind may carry it away". okay? so what. the point is that it isn't coming down with ballistic velocity. Who cares if it winds up down range, that's way better than it landing on people slow or not. There is a reason there are chutes on a Cirrus. Have you seen the video where a man landed in a neighborhood with one? Kids on a playground would be able to see it coming and run away.
As I said... a parachute can actually make things worse if there's any degree of wind because you can no longer ensure the safety of things on the ground simply by not flying over them. And, a 60lb drone (or anything) travelling at 15mph (laterally) has the ability to inflict severe injury or worse. Parachutes are not a perfect mitigation by any means.
Or the case where the police watching someone with a drone was flying it right inline with the final approach for a runway and small plane hit it.. clearly the govt is more dangerous

"By default" just means that while they don't collect any data from your done, you _have the option_ to send them that data if you choose lmao
They have to put "by default" because if even just 1 person *chooses* to send them their drone data, than it's a lie to just flat out say they collect *no data* from drone
Looks like the BMFA and CAA are continuing to plot the end of model flying in the U.K. The BMFA sleep walking into this and supporting it with the short term prospect of being handed a monopoly on control of ‘approved’ flying sites. Current ideas around RID sound like the end of model glider flying from most slopes / parks.
Do you see the size of that ordinance taped to the bottom of that drone? Gotta be a 10-15lbs load. That drone would not fly more than a minute even IF it could fly at all. I call bs. Plus the load isn't even centered so it would be pulling to one side causing even more drain on the battery

Oh so they're just sending all the "radio" data up to the drone via fiber optic cable. I suppose you could fly an RC sailplane like that. How much does 2k feet of fiber optic cable weigh? Could get around the 400ft rule if sailplane was tethered by fiber optic cable and not controlled by actual radio signals. 🤷♂ Would have to be a large sailplane / drone to lift that much fiber optic cable.
Or a laser link, without the cable. Hard to interept when it works.

AI drone built in a few hours, used to hunt drones, uses drone recognition software. Yes we have all seen the "Slaughter bot" video.
They can’t be built in a few hours but the US military does have such a thing. It uses microwaves to fly the electronics on other drones and can engage multiple targets simultaneously. I think it had around a 30 minute loiter time and seemed pretty small. I was reading about it the other night.
All I can say, there is a main group of people in US AMA community that block your video and do tell - you're a buy who don't understand the situation.

Did Boeing merge with Hyundai? I had a rear wheel come off a 1987 Hyundai (less than 30K miles the bearing went 'poof') when I was driving across the Ben Franklin bridge.
I wonder what this regulation will look like in just 15 years.. Unfortunately, I likely have at least 50-60 years left here.. One thing is for certain, however. I will resort to non-compliance and fly safely until I physically cannot do so anymore.

The policeman is flying a microdrones md4-200 from about 2007 2008. They had this image on their wall in germany for years.
The md4-200 was amazing for its time and literally ushered in the tech we now take for granted.

Last week I took my Typhoon H for its last flight. There are no RID modules under $200, Where are the modules? The Yuneec pilot forums have gone almost quiet other than peeps trying to sell their hexacopters. This is a law that seperates Rich from Poor. I dont even know if I can legally sell it to buy a mini or something and if I can Im sure theres not much of a market for a large heavy hexacopter. HEY! BEZOS! send me an RID module! This is your Law, Help people out!

When is the government going to require RFID on geese, and other large fowl? They have brought down and damaged way more aircraft than drones have.
There are drone pilots in Ukraine that would love nothing more than to be able to bring down an enemy helicopter or airplane with their FPV drones. Even Main Battle Tanks are being destroyed with FPV drones, but so far no airborne aircraft have been destroyed with a drone and people do try. There is video from the drone of at least one failed attempt that I know of.
Isn't it actually the DJI software like Go4 or Fly installed on a cell phone that would be sending this data to the ccp not the drones? We don't have to use DJI software to control some of their drones.
Those guys didn't even bother to design their own model to mount that pulse jet engine on. It's just a modified A-10 model.
Wow .. that’s pretty anti dji is skydio paying you too? Lol by default is because yes we can allow dji to see our flight logs if we choose too. This is needed when dji wants to find out what went wrong with your drone or what the pilot did wrong. If there is actually something nefarious they could do with those flight logs, one easy fix would be to not offer this connection. That being said what could be used against our country that is in our logs? Dji stops us from flying near critical infrastructure. We cant even take off.

Remote ID enforcement starts today and according to Bruce, this is the first day of the end of the hobby. Right Bruce? Haven't you been telling everyone Remote ID is going to kill the hobby? Welp, its here! I guess we should all go home and stop flying our toys. Or.... one could simply not use Remote ID. How will I get tracked down if i do not comply? Who is going to be enforcing Remote ID and kill our hobby Bruce? Did the FAA get 1000's of new investigators? Remote ID will be an epic failure and will never result in mass rule violations as Bruce has been saying for years.
